Naruto: Drinking Makes You Stronger

Chapter 7: Feasts, Fights, and Frustrations

Time, silent and steady, flows by like a quiet river.

After the incident where Asuma was frightened by Leo, he was left shaken and limp.

Once again, Leo firmly solidified his dominance at the Ninja Academy. However, this time, Leo noticed that Kurenai and Rin had become unusually enthusiastic. They frequently brought him different kinds of sake and even competed to invite him for lunch during breaks.

Naturally, Leo made his choice...

"Leo, please eat more. I made this bento myself," Rin said, her cheeks slightly flushed as she handed over her carefully prepared lunch. Her eyes shone with anticipation.

"Leo, this bottle of sake is one of my father's most treasured. I brought it just for you to try," Kurenai chimed in, refusing to be outdone. She presented a well-sealed bottle of premium sake.

"Well, let me give it a taste," Leo said, licking his lips. He opened the bottle Kurenai had offered and took a large gulp.

Gulp, gulp—

"Ah! This is good sake!" Leo exclaimed after savoring the drink, his expression filled with satisfaction.

Ding!

The system has detected the master reaching peak enjoyment while drinking. Kendo comprehension +3.

As expected, Kurenai was right—this was indeed a high-quality sake, one of her father's prized possessions. Normally, drinking sake would only trigger the Dionysus System for a random +1 attribute point. But this particular bottle granted him +3 Kendo comprehension points at once.

"I'm glad you like it, Leo," Kurenai said with a delighted smile. She glanced at Rin, who was pouting in frustration, and the corners of her lips curled upward in subtle triumph.

Rin, on the other hand, felt upset that Leo had chosen to drink Kurenai's sake first. She had previously gone through the trouble of sneaking sake from her own house to impress him. However, her efforts had been discovered, and she received a scolding for it. As a result, the sake in her home was now hidden even more securely.

So, Rin decided to bring a bento instead, putting all her effort into preparing a delicious meal.

"Just you wait, Kurenai. I won't lose!" Rin thought determinedly, her small fist clenched tightly. Then, as an idea struck her, a mischievous smile appeared on her lips.

"Leo, it's not good to drink on an empty stomach. Why don't you try the bento I made?" Rin said cheerfully as she opened the lid of her lunch box.

"Hm, that's true," Leo agreed, his mood already elevated by the excellent sake. He looked at the bento Rin had prepared, and his eyes lit up.

The bento box was noticeably larger than a standard one, and it was packed with an assortment of beautifully cooked meats. As the saying goes, good food complements good wine. Drinking without food would truly be a shame.

"Wow, this looks amazing!" Leo said as he picked up a piece of fried chicken and popped it into his mouth.

"This is delicious!" he praised with genuine admiration. Then, he took another swig of the sake.

Gulp, gulp—

"Ah, this is the life," Leo said, his face filled with satisfaction as he enjoyed the perfect combination of meat and sake.

Ding!

The system detects that the master has reached a new level of enjoyment while drinking. Physique +5!

Ding!

Congratulations! The master's body has surpassed the critical threshold, achieving the level of Elite Ninja. Chakra +15!

Ding!

Congratulations to the master for reaching the Elite level in Chakra!

(A/N: Elite Ninja = Jonin)

(A/N: Jōnin, literally meaning: High Ninja, meaning (Viz): Elite Ninja: From Google )

(A/N: In MTL Version the Physique and Chakra are all chuunin despite leveling up to Elite Ninja but here I am the law ehhehhe I change it into in advance.)

At this moment, the familiar mechanical voice echoed in Leo's mind.

"So, I've leveled up?"

Leo clenched his fist, feeling a newfound strength coursing through his body.

"Open the status panel."

Status Panel

Master: Hatake Leo

Age: 8

Physique: Special Jōnin level

Chakra: Special Jōnin level

Kendo Comprehension: Swordsman

Special Ability: Asura Sword Intent

Comprehensive Strength: High Jōnin level

(Note: Strength increases significantly while in a drunken state.)

The Dionysus System was unlike those seen in novels Leo had read in his previous life.

The system, much like Leo himself, seemed disinterested in most things except sake, maintaining a lazy demeanor. As a result, the panel only updated when major thresholds were crossed, and it didn't provide detailed numerical stats.

But Leo didn't mind.

To him, numbers were static and meaningless in real combat. What truly mattered was the ability to prove oneself repeatedly in battle.

Take his current status, for instance. While the panel labeled him as having "High Jōnin" strength, it hardly told the whole story.

Not long ago, when Kakashi challenged him, Leo was technically only at the Chūnin level. Yet, after taking a few swigs of sake, hadn't he defeated Kakashi with a single slash?

As for his special ability, the Asura Sword Intent, that was a reward he earned after defeating a teacher who had dared to break his sake bottle, cementing his reputation at the Ninja Academy.

This terrifying sword intent was a fusion of his kendo skills and aura, creating a phenomenon that could plunge enemies into an illusion of facing a terrifying Asura. Without immense willpower, opponents could do nothing but succumb to its effects.

After briefly glancing at the panel, Leo dismissed it.

With such delicious food and sake before him, why waste time overthinking? Living in the moment was the most important thing.

"Hmph."

Kurenai glanced at Rin, who was smiling triumphantly again. With a huff, she narrowed her beautiful eyes and started plotting.

She had to figure out where her father was hiding his best sake. As for her father, who would inevitably lament the frequent disappearance of his prized collection, Kurenai decided she wouldn't concern herself with that.

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK!

At the Ninja Academy in Konoha...

Hideichi Tanaka stood at the front of the class, holding a textbook and delivering his lecture with great earnestness.

However, what made his class unique was the sound of students gulping and swallowing—an unusually loud and frequent occurrence.

"Cough, cough."

As the lecture neared its conclusion, Tanaka couldn't help but steal a glance at Leo.

When he saw that Leo was only slightly drunk and showed no signs of losing control, he breathed a sigh of relief.

In truth, Tanaka had lost count of how many times he had petitioned the school to replace him as the class instructor.

After all, what if Leo one day drank too much and went on a drunken rampage? If Leo ended up attacking him with his sword, where could he even go to cry about it?

For the first time in his life, Tanaka felt that teaching at the Ninja Academy was a high-risk job—and the danger came from a single student!

"This concludes today's lecture. Next, we'll proceed with a practical test," Tanaka announced, taking out the day's class schedule.

"Huh? Another test?"

"Don't you think we've been having too many tests lately?"

"Wait, isn't this the first practical test this month?"

The class immediately broke into murmurs of complaint.

Compared to the past, the frequency of tests had increased significantly. Just this month, there had already been four theoretical exams.
