Chapter 166: Chapter 164: Ambitions

Chapter 164: Ambitions

Inside the space ring.

Standing on the desolate ground, Baishi glanced at the Phantom Ring on his right hand and muttered to himself, "As expected, it can't come in."

Earlier, after fully restoring his chakra, he had activated the Flying Thunder God: Guided Thunder seal, opened a spatial rift, and entered the space.

Before entering, the space ring was securely on his finger, but the moment he arrived inside, it had disappeared.

This could only mean one thing: the ring remained outside.

It made sense. The space existed solely because of its connection to the ring. The ring was the anchor that bound this dimension to the ninja world. If it could also enter the space, it would create a paradoxical loop, akin to "infinite nesting."

Naturally, such a scenario was impossible.

Still, Baishi wanted to confirm his theory.

He quickly formed a series of seals, activating the Flying Thunder God: Guided Thunder seal imprinted on the ring. A small crack appeared in the void.

He then used the Yamanaka Clan's Mind Transmission Technique to communicate with a Wood Clone he had stationed outside as a precaution.

"Is the ring still outside?" Baishi asked mentally.

"Yes," came the swift reply. "As soon as you entered, the ring fell to the ground."

"Check it. Is everything intact?"

A moment later, the Wood Clone responded, "No issues. The seal is perfectly stable."

"Good."

Relieved, Baishi severed the connection and turned his attention back to the interior of the space.

Having the memory of his previous Wood Clone's exploration gave him a rough idea of the layout, but the darkness that enveloped everything was frustrating.

"I need to find a way to light this place up."

He first tried conjuring a small flame in his palm using Fire Release. While it provided some light, Baishi shook his head. "Too inconvenient."

He then switched to Lightning Release, summoning a crackling bolt of electricity in his hand. But the sharp sound of electric arcs only added to the discomfort.

"This is even worse than fire," Baishi chuckled.

Dispersing the lightning, he fell into deep thought, eventually directing his gaze toward the ceiling.

Ordinary people might see nothing, but Baishi could clearly sense the intricate network of Heaven-Sealing Technique seals embedded in the space's boundaries. These seals not only formed the structure of the dimension but also connected it to the ring.

"Maybe this could work…"

Baishi quickly formed seals, tweaking portions of the Heaven-Sealing Technique to allow it to divert and gather chakra at specific points.

The task wasn't difficult. The seal already had a mechanism to channel chakra, and since he was its creator, he adjusted it swiftly.

About fifteen minutes later, Baishi completed the modifications. He pressed his palm to the ground, sending a stream of chakra into the seal.

Above, the ceiling lit up as a glowing web of chakra spread across it, like a giant luminescent spider web.

Baishi's eyes sparkled. "It works!"

Encouraged, he injected more chakra, causing the web to form a glowing orb at its center. It hung like an enormous lightbulb, bathing the space in soft illumination.

This wasn't a ninjutsu, merely an intense concentration of chakra emitting light.

After analyzing the technique's efficiency, Baishi calculated its energy cost: maintaining the light for 30 minutes required around 100 units of chakra.

For most people, this consumption might be prohibitive, but Baishi found it acceptable. He was confident he could refine the technique to double its efficiency, allowing 100 units to last an hour.

With his nearly 2,000 units of chakra, he could easily sustain the light for over ten hours.

And if more power was ever needed, he could always capture additional tailed beasts.

Satisfied, Baishi turned his attention to the barren surroundings. He sat cross-legged and activated Mind's Eye, scanning the environment thoroughly.

A few moments later, he opened his eyes and muttered, "Not even a trace of natural energy… This place truly is a dead zone."

In the ninja world, natural energy existed everywhere, no matter how barren the location. Yet here, Baishi couldn't sense even the faintest hint of it.

This confirmed that the dimension was utterly lifeless. The few plants clinging to survival were merely delaying the inevitable—death.

In a sense, the lack of natural energy wasn't entirely bad. It meant the space was exceptionally pure.

Baishi's mind raced with ideas. Could he artificially introduce natural energy into this space, creating a pristine "sanctuary"?

And if he refined his Sage Mode here, could he escape the influence of the Three Great Sacred Lands?

Of course, these thoughts were for the future.

"First, I need to set up this space properly."

Baishi retrieved a handful of seeds, scattering them on the ground. He then used his custom Wood Release technique, Wood Style: Continuous Storage Huts.

Typically, constructs made with Wood Release would vanish once the jutsu was undone. However, by combining Wood Release with Yang Release, Baishi could grow real plants that persisted after the jutsu ended.

Under his guidance, the seeds rapidly sprouted and grew, transforming into neatly arranged storage huts.

After dismissing the jutsu, Baishi confirmed that the huts remained intact.

Satisfied with his work, he entered one of the huts and engraved a Flying Thunder God: Guided Thunder seal on the floor.

This would allow him to store items directly into the hut by targeting the seal.

Unfortunately, retrieving items still required Baishi or a clone to enter the space physically. Despite calling it a "space ring," the setup wasn't as convenient as a traditional storage tool.

But Baishi didn't mind. As long as it worked, a little inconvenience was acceptable.

Over the next few hours, he methodically categorized the huts, assigning each a specific purpose and marking them with corresponding seals.

With the storage system complete, Baishi spent some additional time leveling the remaining ground. Finally, his work in the space was done, and he exited the dimension.
