Naruto: I'm Sukuna's Jinchuriki [ R-18 ]

Chapter 9: Chapter 8

**Konoha, 43 Years**

Uchiha Kagami had developed a unique rhythm at the ninja academy. While others diligently paid attention to lessons, he used class time for restful naps, maximizing his energy for nighttime training.

Despite this blatant disregard for the curriculum, no teacher could fault him. Kagami consistently topped all academic and practical exams. When faculty members encouraged him to graduate early, he declined, dismissing the notion with a smirk.

Why leave the comfort of school for grunt work as a Genin? Capturing runaway cats or escorting caravans held no appeal for someone of his talent.

The looming Third Ninja War had yet to erupt. However, its seeds had already been sown. Tensions simmered as Sand Village searched fruitlessly for their Third Kazekage, unaware of Sasori's betrayal. This missing leader would ignite conflict, dragging all five major villages into a brutal, globe-spanning war.

For Kagami, it was merely history waiting to unfold—a tapestry where he aimed to weave his influence.

**Hatake Residence**

The request came unexpectedly. Kakashi, usually proud and aloof, approached Kagami with uncharacteristic humility.

"My father wants to see you," Kakashi said, bowing deeply. "Please..."

Intrigued, Kagami agreed.

Upon arrival, the famed *Konoha's White Fang*, Hatake Sakumo, was a shadow of his former self. Once a revered warrior, Sakumo now looked emaciated and broken. His hollow eyes spoke of a man crushed by disgrace and betrayal.

"It's you," Sakumo rasped, forcing a weak smile. "Kakashi often mentions you."

"Hatake Sakumo," Kagami replied coolly, his tone devoid of emotion.

Sakumo hesitated before speaking. "Kagami-kun, I've heard much about your wisdom. Tell me... What is *right*?"

Kagami's eyes narrowed. He wasn't one for consoling others, but Sakumo's despair offered an opportunity.

"Do you know who leaked your mission details?" Kagami asked bluntly.

Sakumo's face darkened. "…I have my suspicions."

"It was likely Danzo," Kagami stated. "And the Third Hokage did nothing to stop it. He let public opinion turn against you. Why? Because it suited him."

Sakumo flinched but remained silent.

Kagami continued, his voice icy. "The truth is simple: the Third Hokage wouldn't risk his position to defend you. He preaches the Will of Fire, cherishing comrades, but only when it doesn't threaten Konoha's reputation or his own authority."

"Why… would he allow this?" Sakumo whispered.

"Because you're a threat," Kagami said. "With your strength and reputation, you're a natural candidate for the Fourth Hokage. By tarnishing your name, they've ensured you'll never be considered. They've made you a tool for dirty work, not a successor."

Sakumo's hands trembled.

Kagami leaned forward, his words cutting deep. "You're angry because your ideals have shattered. But the Third Hokage is just a man—selfish and flawed. He would never risk destabilizing Konoha for you."

Sakumo's voice rose. "Then what am I supposed to do?!"

"Fight back," Kagami said sharply. "Prove your ideals have worth. Go to the villagers who slandered you—beat them, cripple them if needed. Show them the strength of someone who values comrades over missions."

Sakumo looked horrified. "I… I can't harm innocent people…"

"Then stop wallowing in self-pity and act!" Kagami snapped. "Make your choice, Hatake. Live by your beliefs or die a coward."

---

Hatake Sakumo stared at the young Uchiha, the fire in his spirit rekindled. He had been searching for an answer, and Kagami's brutal clarity left no room for doubt.

"You've chosen your side, haven't you?" Sakumo asked. "Between Uchiha and Konoha…"

Kagami's lips curved into a faint smile. "I haven't chosen anything, Hatake Sakumo. The winning side will be the one that chooses *me*."
