NARUTO: Ninja World Scientific Revolution

Chapter 18: CHAPTER 18 - Returning to the Village

After safely escorting the merchant convoy to its destination in the Land of Grass, Team Akimichi Fuu returned directly to Konoha. The Land of Grass also had a ninja village, and while it was allied with Konoha, it was better not to stay there for too long unless on a mission authorized by the Hokage.

This C-rank escort mission had been uneventful, aside from killing a group of bandits. Kurenai Yuhi and Kiyo Hyuga, the two girls, had been unexpectedly decisive in taking the lives of the bandits. Akimichi Fuu wasn't particularly surprised by Hyuga Mirai's response, as he had heard about his reputation at Konoha Hospital. With the medical ninjutsu skills of a Chuunin, he must have seen his fair share of corpses.

Kurenai and Kiyo, though pale after using shuriken to kill the thieves, quickly regained their composure. From this alone, they had already shown themselves to be competent ninjas. However, they still needed some refinement. This was their first battle, after all, and it felt more like a "ninja game" to them. In comparison, Hyuga Mirai was much more focused, always keeping the mission at the forefront and being cautious at every step.

After submitting the completed mission, Akimichi Fuu spoke to the three of them in his usual expressionless manner: "Tomorrow, gather at Training Ground 3. The day after tomorrow will be a rest day, then we'll continue taking on more missions."

Endlessly accepting missions would not foster growth. Akimichi Fuu preferred to balance missions with training—one day of training followed by a day of rest. The goal was to complete fifteen C-rank missions within two months, after which the team would attempt B-rank missions.

The next day's training was no different. Akimichi Fuu didn't treat them as students fresh out of the Ninja Academy, but as real ninjas. Though he didn't use deadly force, with his Jonin-level strength, a single strike could injure any of them. If they were hit by ninjutsu, they might have to go straight to Konoha Hospital.

However, Akimichi Fuu was skilled at controlling his power. Most of his ninjutsu was used for defensive or restraining purposes, rarely used in direct offense. Nevertheless, during the practical sparring, Hyuga Mirai, Kiyo Hyuga, and Kurenai Yuhi were constantly in danger.

A Jonin specializing in ninjutsu was much stronger than a Chuunin, even if their taijutsu was weaker. Akimichi Fuu occasionally used ninjutsu, and without revealing all of his strength, Hyuga Mirai was thoroughly beaten. Still, this helped him improve, as each defeat pointed out his shortcomings. Akimichi Fuu was a good team leader. After knocking them all away, he would always highlight where they went wrong.

"That hurts. Sensei Akimichi is so strict!" Kurenai Yuhi grumbled, noticing the numerous bruises and swelling on her body. It was no surprise they were given a day of rest—she could tell they would need medical ninja attention.

Kiyo Hyuga didn't say anything. She was in better physical condition, but a large bump had formed on her forehead, giving her a rather awkward appearance. Hyuga Mirai glanced at her twice before nearly laughing out loud.

"Ahem, Lady Kiyo, Kurenai, let me treat your injuries," Hyuga Mirai said, waving his hand.

"Hehe, thanks, Mirai-kun," Kurenai Yuhi replied, smiling, her ruby eyes narrowing into crescent shapes.

This was where having a medical ninja in the team proved its value. Without one, they'd have to spend extra money going to Konoha Hospital. Besides, Hyuga Mirai's medical skills were well-known and on par with the official doctors at the hospital.

Kiyo Hyuga moved closer but was clearly embarrassed by her swollen forehead. Her face flushed with a mix of shame and anger. She remained silent, hoping her forehead would heal quickly.

"Palm Healing Jutsu!" Hyuga Mirai swiftly formed the seals, gathering green chakra in his palms. He placed his hands on both Kurenai Yuhi and Kiyo Hyuga's bodies. Under the healing light of the yang chakra, their most noticeable injuries healed almost completely. The remaining bruises would require some ointment and a day of rest to fully recover.

"Phew~ all done. Just apply some ointment, and you'll be fine by afternoon," Hyuga Mirai said, retracting his chakra and sitting down on the ground to catch his breath.

The Palm Healing Jutsu was an A-rank medical technique, and even among Konoha's medical ninja, only a few could master it. Not only was it chakra-draining, but it also required great control over chakra. Hyuga Mirai used it for such minor injuries not just for his own sake, but also to justify taking a rest.

"Lady Kiyo, I'd like to take tomorrow off to rest at home," Hyuga Mirai said.

Kiyo Hyuga was about to insist on coming to the clan's training ground but swallowed her words upon hearing Hyuga Mirai's request. After all, he had just treated her injury, and she couldn't turn him down so easily. She also realized that he must be exhausted.

Kurenai Yuhi, watching from the side, knew rejecting him would make her seem heartless.

'Mirai-kun must be tired. Why does Kiyo still insist on making him train?' she thought to herself.

Kiyo Hyuga immediately nodded and said, "Alright, rest tomorrow."

Afterward, she cast a glance at Kurenai Yuhi with her pure white eyes before walking off the training ground without saying anything else.

"What did Kiyo mean by that look just now?" Kurenai Yuhi asked in confusion, turning to Hyuga Mirai once Kiyo was far enough away.

"I'm not sure. Maybe she thought your eyes are pretty," Hyuga Mirai casually replied, standing up and brushing off the dust from his clothes. "Well, I'm off now, see you the day after tomorrow."

At this age, aside from improving their strength, the remaining thoughts of the young boys and girls naturally gravitated toward the opposite sex. A perfect example was Obito Uchiha, who had feelings for Nohara Rin at only six or seven years old. While Kurenai Yuhi might not yet be thinking along those lines, compliments from the opposite sex could still brighten her mood.

Receiving such praise from Hyuga Mirai, someone reliable on her team—handsome, capable, and with renowned medical talent—Kurenai's mood instantly lifted. She hummed happily as she left the training ground.

Back at home, Hyuga Mirai tended to his own injuries and reflected on the time spent with the team. He felt he hadn't revealed anything out of the ordinary. It had just been an ordinary C-rank mission, and their performance had been just like their usual training at the Hyuga clan's training grounds.

"Next, I'll lock the doors and windows. No one should disturb me. After I've taken the day off from Lady Kiyo, Zosuke Hyuga won't be coming either. I should have a whole day to myself," Hyuga Mirai thought as he mentally ran through his plan. He was confident that even if he used the system's simulation function, nothing would go wrong.

"System, activate the extraction function!"
