Sasuke sheathed the Kusanagi sword, deactivating the Chidori Blade technique.

With a reverse grip, he placed the blade back into the scabbard behind his waist. Turning his head, Sasuke looked toward the island and asked, "Where is the tailed beast?"

Hearing Sasuke's question, Guren hurriedly replied, "Lord Sasuke, please follow me!" She spoke with an air of respect for Sasuke.

Seeing her demeanor, one could hardly believe that, just three seconds ago, this woman had looked at Sasuke with disdain and hatred. The rapid change in her attitude within seconds was astonishing. Even Kimimaro shook his head in disbelief.

"A foolish woman," Kimimaro thought. "Even if she returns to Lord Orochimaru's side, it's unlikely Lord Orochimaru would glance at her again. It's evident that she's already been abandoned. Without even bearing the Curse Mark, does she really hope to regain Lord Orochimaru's favor?"

Although these thoughts occupied his mind, Kimimaro remained silent and followed along. Meanwhile, Haku positioned herself on Sasuke's other side, keeping a wary eye on Guren.

To Haku, Guren still posed a significant threat primarily because she was a woman. Between women, an inexplicable hostility often arises.

Guren sensed it too and quickly understood why Haku looked at her that way. "This little girl likes Lord Sasuke, doesn't she?" Guren thought, smirking inwardly. "Heh! I have no interest in a kid like Sasuke. She's treating me as a romantic rival?"

"Fine then. If that's how she sees me, I'll make her even more uncomfortable." With this in mind, Guren deliberately made some provocative gestures.

"Lord Sasuke, this way!" she said. "From now on, I'll fully cooperate with you. Whatever you request, I'll fulfill. If you have any concerns, please let me know."

Sasuke, clueless about Guren's intentions, found her sudden change in behavior… difficult to describe. However, his thoughts were preoccupied with the Three-Tails, so he chose to ignore her actions.

Haku, on the other hand, was fuming. "That wretched woman! How dare she try to seduce Lord Sasuke? Lord Sasuke would never fall for such tricks!"

Sasuke, Haku, Kimimaro, and Guren moved deeper into the island to search for the Three-Tails. Meanwhile, elsewhere…

As night fell, the atmosphere in Konoha became unusually tense. The streets were empty, and despite the bright lights, most shops had closed early. Even ordinary villagers could sense that something was amiss in Konoha.

This time, the threat didn't come from external enemies attacking the village. Instead, it stemmed from internal strife that had begun after Tsunade's return.

Konoha had split into two factions. On one side were the jōnin who had chosen to support Danzo's rise to power. This faction represented a significant majority, comprising roughly nine-tenths of Konoha's jōnin. The remaining fraction was made up of elite jōnin, led by figures such as Kakashi.

High-ranking jōnin like Kakashi, who had the strength and confidence to stand on their own, weren't overly concerned about choosing sides right away. Once Tsunade returned, these elite jōnin naturally aligned with her.

The problem, however, lay in the timing. If the decision about the next Hokage hadn't already been made, Tsunade's return bolstered by support from Kakashi and others would have guaranteed her position as the Fifth Hokage. But the situation was complicated.

Just before Tsunade's return, Koharu and Homura, under pressure from the Daimyō, had reluctantly agreed to appoint Danzo as Hokage. Though the formal inauguration ceremony hadn't been held, and Danzo's face hadn't yet been carved into the Hokage Rock, his position as Hokage was already confirmed.

Upon her return, Tsunade first visited Jiraiya and personally treated him, stabilizing his condition and ensuring his full recovery within six months. She then moved swiftly to address the issue of the Hokage position, boldly declaring herself as the Fifth Hokage. True to her nature, Tsunade made no concessions to Danzo.

This caused friction. Backed by elite jōnin like Kakashi and even gaining public support from the Hyūga Clan, Tsunade had a strong base of power. Danzo, however, also had considerable influence, particularly due to his overwhelming support from ordinary jōnin.

Thus, the two factions reached a stalemate. Neither could decisively overpower the other. In the days since Sasuke set out to find the Three-Tails, multiple negotiations between the two factions had taken place, all revolving around the contested Hokage position.

Such a major power struggle could not go unnoticed by other villages. Even in the still-developing Kirigakure, intelligence agents had infiltrated Konoha. However, these spies had no intention of directly harming the village.

It was merely information gathering.

Essentially, the entire shinobi world was aware that Konoha might face internal conflict.

As Sasuke set foot on the island to search for the Three-Tails, the Konoha conflict finally erupted.

Danzo couldn't hold back any longer. He attempted to poison the elite jōnin supporting Tsunade.

Kurenai Yuhi and Might Guy fell victim to the poison.

If not for Tsunade's presence and her quick medical intervention, the two might not have survived.

Using such despicable tactics in competition enraged Tsunade. She immediately issued an order for Kakashi and others to eliminate Danzo.

Thus, on this night, the Konoha conflict officially broke out.

Danzo, who had long been preparing, mobilized Root ninjas to surround Konoha Hospital and seize the Hokage building. He intended to use his assumed authority as Hokage to completely drive Tsunade out of the village.

However, Danzo underestimated Tsunade's influence in Konoha.

As the granddaughter of the First Hokage, one of the Sannin, and known throughout the shinobi world as "Princess Tsunade" or "Tsunade-hime," her status alone made it nearly impossible for Konoha to expel her.

Danzo's actions backfired, severely damaging his reputation.

Despite having a considerable number of ninja supporters, the battle proved overwhelming for him. Kakashi and the elite jōnin were far beyond his ability to contend with. The difference between ordinary jōnin and elite jōnin was no trivial matter!

The Konoha conflict erupted in full force.
