Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Developing a Supportive Sensory Ninjutsu
Searching for a tailed beast in such a vast ocean...
Even though the Three-Tails has a massive body, it still seems insignificant in the vastness of the ocean.
Thus, sensory abilities are absolutely necessary.
Unfortunately, Sasuke hasn't mastered Sage Mode at this stage, so his sensory skills aren't particularly strong.
"How can we find the Three-Tails in such a huge ocean?"
Kimimaro's face grew much more serious; he clearly understood how difficult it would be to locate the Three-Tails here.
Guren also realized that this task wasn't easy at all.
However, compared to other tailed beasts, the Three-Tails was relatively easier to capture. After all, a tailed beast without a Jinchuriki wasn't particularly strong.
Although the Three-Tails has astonishing destructive power, its large body makes it an easy target for ninjas.
Such a large target is much easier to deal with.
"The only option now seems to be to wait."
"The Three-Tails was last seen five days ago. If we wait a bit longer, it will definitely reappear!"
"Are you suggesting we wait like sitting ducks?"
Haku was speechless.
Based on what she knew of Sasuke, he wouldn't do something as foolish as waiting passively.
As expected, Sasuke looked visibly displeased.
"Wait?"
"I have no intention of just sitting here quietly and waiting."
Not willing to wait?
But if you don't wait, what other option is there? Searching the ocean for the Three-Tails?
That would be incredibly challenging.
"What does Sasuke-sama intend to do?" Kimimaro asked, sensing that Sasuke might have a plan.
"If we had a sensory-type ninjutsu, finding the Three-Tails wouldn't be hard."
That statement was true, but none of them seemed to possess such an ability.
Guren also wondered if anyone among them had sensory abilities.
The next second, Sasuke directly said, "I've been wanting to develop a similar ability for some time now. This is the perfect opportunity! Let's develop a sensory-type ability to locate the Three-Tails!"
Hearing this, Guren was stunned.
What did this kid just say? Develop a sensory-type ability?
Is that something you can just decide to create?
You have to understand that developing ninjutsu isn't that simple. Even the simplest ninjutsu requires countless practical experiments by ninjas.
Moreover, it usually takes a genius to summarize and refine those experiences into a new jutsu.
Even if Sasuke could develop this ninjutsu, it might take ages.
Wouldn't it be better to just wait?
Guren remained silent.
But Sasuke directly stated, "Let's rest for tonight. I'll think about the direction for development first."
Kimimaro and Haku nodded and set up camp by the seaside.
As night fell, Sasuke used chakra refinement instead of sleeping.
Throughout the night, Sasuke's intense chakra fluctuations were noticeable.
Although Guren sneered at Sasuke's earlier remarks, watching him train so diligently even during rest left her impressed.
No wonder Sasuke was so strong at such a young age.
It was clearly linked to his extraordinary effort, not just talent. Even Kimimaro and Haku shared the same diligence.
Seeing this, Guren was quite surprised.
"Refining chakra? What's the use of that? Doesn't a ninja's chakra grow over time naturally?"
"How much chakra can refining even add? A tiny bit?"
Feeling it was ridiculous, Guren went straight to sleep.
Meanwhile, Sasuke was contemplating how to develop a sensory-type ability.
He had two ideas.
The first was inspired by the "En" technique from the Hunter x Hunter universe: releasing chakra like aura, using it to form a sensory zone around his body.
This would allow him to detect anything within this zone.
The idea had potential, but the main problem was that Sasuke's current chakra reserves couldn't support spreading the "En" over a large area.
Extending it to just a dozen meters would already be an achievement.
This idea was temporarily set aside.
The second idea aimed for wider coverage with current chakra levels. Sasuke thought of using electricity.
Electro-sensory abilities seemed promising. Sasuke considered something akin to the "Mantra" ability of Enel from the One Piece universe.
Enel's "Mantra" was not just Observation Haki; it was enhanced by the Goro Goro no Mi fruit's electro-sensory abilities.
This made Enel's "Mantra" particularly powerful though if his mind was disrupted, its effectiveness would diminish.
Sasuke realized he couldn't perfectly replicate Enel's ability.
Instead, he set a modest goal: detecting the weak electrical signals emitted by living beings in a given area.
By identifying these signals, he could locate all living creatures within a certain range.
This seemed more achievable in the Naruto universe.
However, challenges remained.
Sasuke would need a lot of electricity not for powerful lightning-style attacks but to significantly increase his sensitivity to electrical signals.
To solve this, Sasuke came up with a solution:
"Utilize the Endless Thunder Pool!"
Originally, this technique was intended for developing powerful lightning-style moves like Kirin.
Now, it seemed feasible to use this technique as a foundation for creating sensory-type ninjutsu.
Activating the Endless Thunder Pool itself would take a few minutes.
So, in actual combat, this technique is clearly not suitable for use.
However, as a sensory-type ninjutsu, it's perfect. After all, sensing the enemy usually happens before the battle begins. Once the battle starts, there's no need for sensory abilities how can you fight if the enemy isn't right in front of you?
The next morning.
When Sasuke opened his eyes, Guren was already awake, keeping watch by the sea, sticking to her strategy of waiting passively.
However, upon hearing the sound of Sasuke getting up, Guren still put on a smile.
"Sasuke-sama, did you sleep well last night?"
Hearing this, Sasuke shook his head.
"I didn't sleep! Sleeping is such a waste of time!"
Uh...
Well, this kid's chakra fluctuations didn't stop all night.
Indeed, he hadn't slept at all and had been training relentlessly.
"Sasuke-sama, you should take a little rest! I'll keep watch here, and if I get tired, I'll have the others take over for me!"
"You keep watch. I've already figured out what kind of technique I want to develop. I'm ready to start."
As he spoke, Sasuke walked to an open area nearby...
Watching Sasuke's retreating figure, Guren was stunned.
What did this kid just say?
He's figured it out?
He spent just one night figuring out how to develop a new technique?
What kind of joke is that? Developing a ninjutsu isn't something you can just figure out after one night of thinking!
