Naruto: Satoru Uchiha

Chapter 77: Chapter 77

"You're a disgrace to the village," Gaara said coldly, his voice devoid of emotion. "Why do you think we came all the way to Konoha?"

His inverted figure hung effortlessly on the tree, arms crossed, his feet rooted firmly to the branch without any visible support.

"Kankuro!" Gaara snapped, silencing his brother's attempt to explain. "Shut up."

The chilling undertone in Gaara's voice sent a shiver through Kankuro, who stumbled over his words.

"I… I got it. I'm sorry," Kankuro muttered, his voice shaky.

Even the blonde-haired girl, Temari, shifted nervously beside him.

This guy... Please don't let anything happen, she thought.

Gaara then turned his cold, lifeless gaze toward Sasuke and the others, his beastly eyes unblinking.

"I apologize for my teammate's behavior," he said indifferently, though the words lacked any true sincerity.

Sasuke, crouched on a nearby branch, watched Gaara intently.

When did this guy even arrive?

The frustration gnawed at him. His inability to sense Gaara's presence beforehand was a stark reminder of his own weakness.

How am I supposed to face him if I can't even keep up with this guy?

Sasuke clenched his fists, recalling Satoru's earlier words. His dark eyes deepened with resolve.

Gaara, meanwhile, turned his attention briefly to Sasuke, noticing the sharpness in his gaze.

Interesting. He hit Kankuro's hand so precisely with that stone.

This one might actually be decent.

However, Gaara's expression remained stoic. Still, it's not enough. Not even close.

The air suddenly grew heavy, the world eerily silent.

The sound of the wind, the rustle of leaves, and even the distant chirping of birds seemed to vanish. A tense stillness blanketed the area.

Both groups stood in wary anticipation, the atmosphere thick with unease.

Then, the silence was shattered.

"Yo! What's everyone doing?"

The cheerful voice rang out unexpectedly, catching everyone off guard.

Satoru emerged from the tree above Gaara, hanging casually upside down. His bright smile and bandaged arms stood out starkly against the tense backdrop.

"???"

Kankuro's jaw dropped, the threads in his hand falling uselessly to the ground.

When… When did he get there?

His eyes darted to Gaara, realizing the most unsettling part of the situation: Satoru had appeared behind Gaara, completely unnoticed.

Even Gaara, a jinchūriki with extraordinary sensory abilities, had no idea how or when Satoru arrived.

Gaara's pupils shrank to pinpoints, his normally expressionless face betraying a flicker of shock. The sand around him began to stir, reacting unconsciously to his emotions.

Satoru swayed playfully from the branch, looking completely at ease.

"It's the bandage freak!" Naruto shouted from the ground, his voice filled with excitement.

Naruto's admiration was clear as he watched Satoru effortlessly command attention.

"This guy is so cool! Even Sasuke isn't this impressive!"

Sasuke's eye twitched at Naruto's loud proclamation, though he maintained his composure.

When did he get here? Sasuke thought, frustration welling up again. He's just as quiet as that red-haired guy. Are all these people this strong?

The realization only deepened his determination. I need to get stronger. I have to.

Gaara's gaze sharpened as he addressed Satoru. "When did you arrive?"

Satoru tapped his chin thoughtfully, pretending to calculate.

"Let's see... I've been here for a while," he replied with a grin. "Since before Sasuke's little 'cool guy' moment, actually."

The comment drew a surprised laugh from Naruto.

"Right?! I've been saying that Sasuke's always trying too hard to look cool!" Naruto exclaimed, his blue eyes lighting up with enthusiasm.

"Exactly," Satoru said, nodding in agreement.

For a moment, the two seemed to bond over their shared opinion, gazing at each other like long-lost allies.

Sasuke's eyebrow twitched as he massaged his temple in frustration.

Why does it feel like I'm surrounded by idiots?

Even Sakura, standing off to the side, couldn't suppress her exasperation.

Gaara, however, was far from amused.

"Are you ignoring me?" he asked, his tone laced with danger.

Satoru tilted his head, considering the question seriously. "Ignoring you? Not really. I just thought…"

Gaara waited, his sand swirling more erratically as his impatience grew.

Satoru finally continued, his expression comically stern.

"I just thought it's a bit much to have so many people on one tree, don't you think?"

"...???"

The response left everyone stunned.

What does that even mean?

The crowd exchanged puzzled glances, unsure how to interpret Satoru's words.

Naruto and Sakura looked at each other, just as confused as the Sand siblings.

Only two people in the group understood Satoru's meaning.

Bai and Ghost Lantern Hozuki, watching from a nearby tree, stifled their laughter.

"Typical Satoru-sama," Ghost Lantern Hozuki whispered, shaking her head with amusement.
