Chapter 105: Chapter 105: The Secret of the Mangekyō Sharingan
After Fugaku left, the members of the Uchiha in the Konoha Police Force were visibly excited, their faces alight with exhilaration.
"So cool!"
"This is how the Uchiha should carry themselves!"
"From today onward, the Uchiha will never back down again!"
The words struck a chord deep in their hearts.
Since the Second Hokage's reign, the Uchiha had been forced to retreat again and again on nearly every matter. While these concessions bought fleeting moments of peace, they begged the question: how long could this cycle of retreat continue?
If stepping back solved the problem, why couldn't it be the Hokage's faction that gave way for once?
Uchiha Inaho stepped forward, laughing heartily.
"Leader of the future, I'm in awe of you!"
"Compared to you, Fugaku's way of handling things is downright pathetic."
Uchiha Hachida chimed in. "Exactly! Always so hesitant and indecisive. That's never been our Uchiha way."
However, Uchiha Tetsuka expressed concern. "Leader, is it really wise to fall out with Fugaku?"
Noticing everyone's gazes, Tetsuka quickly clarified, "I'm not saying you're wrong. It's just that we're already at a disadvantage against the Hokage faction. If internal strife emerges, won't it only benefit the Third Hokage and his allies?"
Hearing this, Uchiha Mirai set his teacup down and replied calmly, "Don't worry. I'll handle it."
...
At the Hokage's Office
The door to the office was flung open as Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado stormed in.
Hiruzen Sarutobi, gripping his crystal ball, frowned in annoyance.
"You two are starting to act just like Danzo."
Before the words could settle, Danzo himself strode in.
"Hiruzen, speaking ill of others behind their back is hardly a good habit."
Hiruzen exhaled faintly. "Hmph. If you don't like it, perhaps you should change your behavior."
Danzo sneered, unyielding. "Who are you to tell me what to do?"
Koharu interrupted their bickering. "Hiruzen, this is serious! Uchiha Mirai detained Gentarō and Kazashi in the police force!"
Hiruzen took a long drag of his pipe. "I'm already aware of that. Frankly, Gentarō and Kazashi went too far."
Koharu pressed on. "I've already compensated the shop owner for their losses. Besides, the injuries were only superficial."
"But when I sent Fugaku to retrieve them, Uchiha Mirai outright refused!"
Hiruzen raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What did he say?"
Homura replied hastily. "Mirai declared that Gentarō and Kazashi would be confined for half a month. He even said, 'If someone has to compromise, why shouldn't it be you?'"
Hiruzen sighed heavily. It did sound like something Mirai would say.
Danzo's voice turned cold. "Hiruzen, this blatant provocation cannot be ignored. If we let this slide, not only will the Uchiha become unruly, but the other clans may grow restless as well."
Koharu and Homura nodded in agreement. "This needs to be addressed. Uchiha Mirai must provide an explanation."
After a moment of silence, Hiruzen spoke in a low tone.
"Danzo, take a team to the police force and retrieve the detainees."
Danzo smirked triumphantly. "Understood. Leave it to me."
...
Evening
When Uchiha Mirai returned home, he found Uchiha Shisui waiting quietly at the door.
"Hey, Shisui!" Mirai greeted with a smile.
Shisui bowed respectfully. "Mirai-senpai."
"Come on in. Let's talk inside."
"Yes."
Once they were seated in the room, Mirai asked, "Shisui, how's your time in the police force been so far?"
After the Third Shinobi World War, under Mirai's guidance, Shisui had graduated early and joined the Konoha Police Force, setting him on a completely different path from the original story.
Shisui's face lit up. "I'm loving it, Mirai-senpai. It feels great to genuinely help the villagers."
Mirai chuckled. "That's good to hear. I've heard from Inaho that your skills are impressive. Let's spar sometime. If you're strong enough, I'll make you a squad leader."
Shisui immediately sat up straight. "Yes, sir!"
Then his expression turned serious. "I heard Fugaku came to the police force today. Did he cause trouble?"
Mirai nodded. "He did, but I sent him packing."
Shisui's eyes darkened dangerously. "Mirai-senpai, why not just eliminate Fugaku? The Uchiha deserve a leader like you."
Mirai smiled faintly. "Fugaku poses no threat to me. I can end him whenever I choose, but I have my own plans."
Killing Fugaku was easy. What Mirai wanted was for Fugaku to witness the Hokage faction crushed beneath his feet. Only then would he see the look on Fugaku's face.
Shisui quickly apologized. "I'm sorry, Mirai-senpai. That was out of line."
Mirai shook his head. "Don't worry about it. On that note, there's something I need to tell you."
Shisui tilted his head in curiosity. "What is it?"
"The secret of the Mangekyō Sharingan."
"What?!"
Shisui froze, then his eyes gleamed with excitement. "Thank you, Mirai-senpai!"
The Mangekyō Sharingan was every Uchiha's ultimate aspiration. None could resist its allure.
Mirai's tone grew solemn. "The evolution of the Sharingan is closely tied to spiritual energy. With strong enough spiritual energy, the Sharingan can continue to evolve. But increasing one's spiritual energy is incredibly difficult, nearly impossible in practical terms."
"Apart from that, there's another method to evolve a Sharingan into a Mangekyō Sharingan—severe emotional trauma. The pain of losing someone you hold most dear is the fastest path to awakening it."
These secrets were known only to the clan's leaders to maintain internal stability. For Shisui, hearing this was a revelation.
Mirai gave Shisui a moment to process before continuing. "The Uchiha are a clan of love. Their understanding of love is deeper than anyone else's. That's why, when an Uchiha loses love, they become more extreme than most."
"Shisui, if you choose the second path, be prepared to face the consequences."
Shisui nodded firmly. "I understand. Mirai-sama, you must've endured unimaginable pain to achieve your current power."
Mirai smiled. "No, I took the first path."
