Naruto: Starting with Snatching the Mangekyō Sharingan

Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Preparing to Awaken the Eye

Black Zetsu nodded and said, "That's right. The Sage of Six Paths' younger brother. In fact, the immortal and indestructible Ten-Tails was not defeated by the Sage of Six Paths alone but through the combined efforts of him and his brother."

Seeing the puzzled look on Nagato's face, Black Zetsu continued, "After the Ten-Tails was subdued, the Sage's brother volunteered to guard its seal on the moon, ensuring that the beast would remain contained. That's why there aren't many legends in the ninja world about the Sage's brother, Ōtsutsuki Hamura."

"So, the Sage's brother… his descendants are the Hyūga clan?" Nagato speculated.

"Correct," Black Zetsu confirmed with a nod. "Hamura's lineage split into two branches: one remained on Earth as the Hyūga clan, while the other resided on the moon. The details about the lunar branch are unclear even to me."

Hearing this, Nagato relaxed slightly. He knew what the Hyūga clan was capable of—they were no match for the Uchiha, a clan of unparalleled might. If the Earth-bound Hyūga were so unremarkable, the moon-dwelling branch likely wasn't much stronger.

Noticing Nagato's dismissive expression, Black Zetsu warned him, "Nagato, I advise you not to underestimate Hamura's descendants. Hamura himself was incredibly powerful, rivaling the Sage of Six Paths before the latter became the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki. You'd be wise to take them seriously."

"Ōtsutsuki Hamura's strength was truly that remarkable?" Nagato asked in surprise, having assumed Hamura's reputation was merely overshadowed by his brother's.

"He was undeniably strong," Black Zetsu replied. "Hamura and Hagoromo fought Kaguya Ōtsutsuki for three months, reducing the Earth to ruins. In the later stages of the battle, their combined power surpassed Kaguya's, which led to the creation of the Six Paths: Chibaku Tensei and her eventual sealing.

"To develop such a sealing technique in the middle of a life-and-death struggle speaks volumes about their strength."

"I understand," Nagato nodded solemnly. "I'll take them seriously and won't underestimate them."

Meanwhile, in Konoha – Hyūga Clan Compound

In a spacious meeting room, a dozen Hyūga clan members sat rigidly, their expressions somber.

Following the recent incident where Hinata was nearly abducted, the clan had delved into their ancient archives to uncover information about this mysterious third party. Their search bore fruit.

Hyūga Hiashi scanned the room and said gravely, "Let's hear your opinions. Are the Ōtsutsuki on the moon hostile or friendly?"

The room fell silent. The elders avoided his gaze, their expressions unreadable.

Hiashi's anger simmered. The comfort and arrogance of the main branch had dulled their sense of responsibility.

Sensing Hiashi's patience nearing its limit, an elder finally spoke, "Clan Head, we know nothing about the lunar Ōtsutsuki. Perhaps they mean no harm? After all, we share the same ancestor—Hamura."

Another elder chimed in, "Indeed, Elder Yōichi is right. Since we are of the same lineage, they may have come to aid us. Why else would they appear when Hinata was nearly taken?"

As more elders echoed this sentiment, the room grew noisy.

Hiashi, however, felt only disappointment.

No malice? Their intentions couldn't be clearer! If they were friendly, they wouldn't hide in the shadows—they'd approach openly and establish relations.

"Their target is likely Hinata..." Hiashi thought, his worry deepening.

These useless elders—why do we even protect the main branch?

The meeting ended without resolution.

Days Later – ShinTen Biotech

Inside Akira's private lab, a Hyūga main branch clone lay on an examination table. After a meticulous inspection, Akira's expression showed satisfaction.

It had been days since the White Eyes had been transplanted into the clone, and the results were promising. Both eyes had fused into one Byakugan.

From outward appearances, the experiment was a success.

Forming hand seals, Akira used the Spirit Transformation Technique to enter the clone's body.

The moment he assumed control, he noticed a difference.

"Byakugan!" The clone's veins bulged around its eyes, blood vessels prominent as its vision activated.

"The right eye's power has nearly doubled," Akira noted. "Its range was previously limited to a kilometer, but now it reaches almost two."

His eyes lit up. "As I thought, adapting the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan fusion method to awaken the Tenseigan is feasible!"

The next steps involved further fusions to determine whether the Byakugan, like the Sharingan, could only undergo a single fusion.

"If a single fusion isn't enough, then this experiment is a failure," Akira thought. "But if a combination of clones from Ōtsutsuki Toneri and Hyūga Hinata can't awaken the Tenseigan, then the alternative is to amass Byakugan eyes to form a giant Tenseigan."

He was already prepared for this contingency.

A giant Tenseigan may even surpass a regular one in power.

Returning to his own body, Akira muttered to himself, "It's time to focus on awakening my own Mangekyō Sharingan."

While he could perfectly wield Obito's Mangekyō, awakening his own would dramatically amplify his power.

"Even if I can't achieve the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, simply unlocking my own Mangekyō will be a significant boost," Akira mused.

He already had a plan for how to awaken his Mangekyō. It was now time to put it into action.
