Naruto: Starting with Tsunade-san

Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Fire Art - Ash Disappearance Technique

The freezing cold and fierce winds covered the landscape in a white and silver shroud. All that could be seen was white, as if the entire world was blanketed in snow.

Here lies the Land of Iron, situated to the right of the Land of Trade and near the coast, serving as the only route to the Land of Water.

This country is perpetually cold, blanketed with snow and ice throughout the year. The snow accumulates so densely that one sinks to their ankles while walking.

The sound resembles walking on fine flour, blending into the silence.

The stormy winds make the ground feel like a chopping board, and exposing bare skin to such conditions brings pain, as if being cut by knives. To withstand the biting cold, samurai wear heavy armor to protect themselves from the winter.

For newcomers, this place feels like a red hell, but for Tōshirō, there's no better place to showcase his strength.

Here, the power of his ice techniques rises significantly. When he senses the surrounding cold, Tōshirō realizes that his B-rank techniques could reach the level of A-rank.

It's no exaggeration to say that in this battlefield, he could reach the level of an elite shinobi.

That's why Tōshirō dared to risk his life to come here to rescue Tsunade.

Of course, beyond this reason, other factors played a role.

Firstly, Tōshirō is familiar with the techniques of the Hidden Mist Village, as he has trained in water techniques.

Secondly, his ice techniques have an advantage over water techniques.

Thirdly, the enemy is out in the open while he is hidden, and they know nothing about his abilities, giving him a chance to strike them by surprise.

Based on these reasons, he had the confidence to undertake the rescue mission alone.

The cold was so intense that Tōshirō's breath appeared as white mist that didn't dissipate immediately but lingered for moments.

For an ordinary person, finding Tsunade in this vast expanse of white snow would be nearly impossible.

But this wasn't difficult for Tōshirō; everything was under his control.

Ice Release - Ice Eye.

This technique involves creating ice crystals and using light refraction to find enemies. In other places, its range is limited and consumes a lot of chakra.

But here, the capabilities of the Ice Eye expand infinitely. As long as there is snow, he can monitor everything with minimal chakra consumption.

This technique is one of the two A-rank ice techniques recently taught to him by Master Itachi.

Now was the time to use it in the right place.

The seals for the Ice Eye were extremely complex, requiring 54 hand seals, ten more than the Water Dragon Technique. Performing it flawlessly required significant effort.

When Tōshirō learned the seals, it took him a long time to memorize them.

But fortunately, the effort wasn't in vain, and the time had come to use it.

Ox - Monkey - Rabbit - Rat - Boar - Rooster - Ox - Horse - Rooster - Rat...

Tōshirō's hand movements were precise and organized like the movements of a devil shark, and finally, he succeeded in performing the technique.

Ice Release - Ice Eye!

Tōshirō closed his eyes and tried to locate Tsunade.

After a few minutes, he eased the hand seals, indicating he had found Tsunade's location—northeast, far away, but reachable quickly.

With the direction confirmed, he no longer needed to wander aimlessly.

Tōshirō didn't start moving immediately; instead, he performed an additional seal.

In moments, a long horn made of ice appeared on his forehead.

Ice Release - Horned Sword.

The distance between him and Tsunade was great, and walking there would take too long.

So, he resorted to this technique.

Now, it seemed he had a long horn on his forehead, which might look amusing, but this horn helped increase his speed.

This wasn't just random talk but supported by scientific evidence.

Like the swordfish, which has a horn on its head, and fighter planes, which have tubes to measure airspeed.

By imitating this, Tōshirō could overcome air resistance and increase his speed, becoming as swift as an arrow.

This is what's called science.

He leaned his body forward, focused his weight on his feet, and began running with quick, small steps, while his arms moved harmoniously behind him to reduce air resistance.

With the addition of the ice horn, he moved at an astonishing speed.

...

Meanwhile, a group of ninjas dressed in light clothing was running swiftly, leaving clear traces in the snow, with Tsunade carried on the shoulder of one of them.

The long and exhausting journey made Tsunade feel pain, and she gradually regained consciousness.

"Where am I...?"

She felt a headache, and before regaining her memories, she heard a mocking voice say:

"Oh, the Princess of Konoha has awakened."

Tsunade realized she was entirely bound with ropes and instinctively tried to escape, but found herself weak and unable to move.

One of the Mist ninjas taunted her: "Don't bother trying. You've been poisoned with a drug that prevents you from using your strength, and as a medical ninja, you know what that means."

Tsunade appeared furious, as a medical ninja, she was familiar with most types of poisons.

The "Five Scents Muscle Weakening Poison" contained five scents, and under its effect, the entire body becomes weak and tired. After a few days, a person could move normally but wouldn't be able to use chakra at all, even strong ninjas at the Jōnin level would be completely powerless if affected by this poison.

Tsunade glared and asked, "Why are you attacking us?"

The Mist Jōnin who had run a long distance without showing any fatigue replied calmly, "What other reason? The ninja's work is merely employment. Someone paid a lot to get rid of you Konoha ninjas. As for you, you're just an added bonus."

Tsunade frowned and tried to inquire, "Who is this person?"

The Mist Jōnin responded, "That, I can't tell you. It concerns the client's privacy."

Despite his confidence in victory, the Jōnin showed a high level of professionalism and didn't reveal anything unnecessary.

In reality, he was lying a bit; their primary mission was to target Tsunade and her companions. They had orders from the higher-ups to capture Tsunade alive.

As for claiming they were offered a deal, it was just a coincidence to earn some extra money.

Tsunade asked, "Where are you taking me?"

He answered, "Where else would we take you? Of course, to our village, the Hidden Mist. Important figures like you can't be handled personally by someone like me. But perhaps we can guess—you might be taken for bargaining with Konoha for some important matters, or maybe..."

He paused and smiled maliciously, then said in an evil tone, "For some human experiments."

Just hearing the words 'human experiments' was enough to make Tsunade feel frightened. Although she was mentally prepared for the worst, she couldn't stop herself from trembling slightly.

Seeing Tsunade's trembling, a sadistic smile appeared on the Mist Jōnin's face: "You should know that you are a direct heir to the great ninja legend, and within you lies an incredible Wood Release power that can end wars. Our village can't pass up this opportunity."

Becoming a captive had never led to a good end, especially for female ninjas, where the outcomes were so painful that death seemed more merciful. Tsunade couldn't imagine her fate.

It was impossible for Konoha's forces to arrive in less than two days, and now it seemed that the only thing that could save her was a miracle from the gods.

But the problem was that Tsunade didn't believe in gods or religion. She considered all of it a sham, having seen too many people who stole and killed while pretending to be devout, yet lived in poverty.

As a staunch atheist, she didn't think the gods would care about her fate.

So, instead of suffering and being humiliated, causing losses to her village, she preferred to die.

Tsunade thought of finding a way to commit suicide. She'd heard that biting one's tongue could lead to death, but she wasn't sure if it was true or whether it would be painful.

If it didn't work, she might try crashing into a wall.

Tsunade believed in nothing but herself, and she didn't expect any miracle to save her.

Even if it did happen, it would only be in dreams.

Suddenly, 'Boom!' The sound of a loud explosion echoed, causing the ice cliff to collapse and snow to fall.

In the face of this sudden avalanche, there was no joking if buried under the snow.

The Mist ninjas felt some panic, but they quickly regained composure thanks to their strong adaptability and moved away from the avalanche, then looked towards the source of the explosion to find a young man with black hair and black eyes standing with a cold expression.

His hair resembled a hedgehog's head, and a black tuft stood out from his forehead. When he wasn't smiling, his features were as stern as a perpetual ice mountain.

It was clear that this young man was somehow connected to the avalanche.

Tsunade was the most surprised among everyone because she recognized this face well.

How did he get here?

While all eyes were on the young man, no one noticed the creature slowly approaching from beneath the snow.

"Who is this boy?" wondered the Mist Jōnin carrying Tsunade.

Before he could finish speaking, he felt something was wrong. Before he could respond, it was already too late.

Suddenly, a hand emerged from beneath the snow and grabbed the ninja's leg.

"Underground Decapitation Technique - Ice Release."

In an instant, the young ninja was pulled underground, leaving only his head above, as the figure jumped out from the snow.

This technique was similar to the 'Earth Release - Underground Decapitation,' which he had learned from Jiraiya and modified. Since its difficulty was only D-rank, it was easy for him to adapt.

Tsunade fell to the ground hard, looking up with wide eyes, surprised and overjoyed at the sight of the young man, who seemed like a god descending from the heavens.

The mist ninjas quickly realized what had happened.

"Damn, it was a clone!"

Due to the avalanche and the sudden appearance of the clone, they were completely distracted.

They began attacking the young man.

But the young man remained calm, as if he had anticipated this. He quickly clasped his hands together, took a deep breath, and exhaled forcefully:

"Fire Release - Hiding in Ash Technique."
