Naruto: The ANBU God

Chapter 124: I Don't Know You

Ten minutes later, he was standing at Kushina's door with a radiant expression, holding a bouquet of roses.

In fact, from his original distance to Kushina's house, the journey would have taken only three minutes. However, he wanted to surprise her, so he made a detour to buy a bouquet of flowers, hoping to express his affection for her.

"Kushina, are you home?!"

The next moment, Minato took a deep breath, smiled slightly, and called out, trying to sound as charming as possible.

BAM!

His voice had barely sounded when the door was slammed open.

Immediately after, a girl with long, fiery red hair appeared in front of Minato.

"What is it?"

Kushina asked with a cold expression, her eyes filled with indifference.

"Ah..."

Minato was taken aback, looking at Kushina, who had a completely different expression than he had expected. The words he had prepared got stuck in his throat. He suddenly felt lost and confused.

What happened?

Who made his dear tomato mad again?

Why was Kushina talking to him like that? Since when had there been such a distance between them?

"...."

Kushina looked at him with an empty expression and said, "Yes, I'm fine, but I'm busy."

Seeing that she was about to close the door, Minato quickly handed her the bouquet of flowers with a bright smile: "I know you're mad at me, but... the war kept me away, it wasn't on purpose."

"But... I came to see you as soon as I got back to the village."

Saying this, he raised his eyebrows, trying to sound confident and added in a low voice, "Don't be mad, okay? I'll take you out for a nice dinner and then we'll go for a walk outside the village."

Kushina raised her eyebrows: "Who's mad at you? I have no relationship with you, and I have no reason to be with you."

"What...?"

Minato's smile froze, and his expression became tense. But still, he tried to smooth things over, saying in a calm tone: "Kushina, don't be like that. You and I already have a relationship, and I won't let you say we don't."

"You promised Hokage-sama, remember?"

"Who the hell wants to go out with you?! Do you really think just because the Hokage said it, it means anything to me?!"

Mentioning the Third Hokage was the trigger. Kushina exploded, her eyes filled with such intense rage that it almost felt like heat was emanating from them.

Minato didn't know if he was pretending not to understand her, or if he was truly blinded by the so-called "Will of Fire." But interacting with him only made Kushina's dislike for him grow even more.

Before, when she had accepted her fate, she could only resign herself and accept his advances passively.

But now that there was someone who could change her destiny, there was no room for doubt. She didn't want to be a tool of Konoha.

"Kushina, what the hell are you trying to do?! You are mine!"

Upon hearing Kushina's tone, Minato raised his voice, trying to sound firm and dominant, as if he were scolding her: "You are destined to be my wife, Kushina! You can't just...!"

SLAP!

Before he could finish speaking, a sharp sound echoed like thunder.

Kushina had slapped him. Her gaze was icy, and her voice resonated with a coldness that cut through him like a knife: "You're talking nonsense, Minato! I'm going to see Luo Lei to get justice, and you have nothing to say about it."

"By the way, I knew about the Council's plan to have me captured a long time ago, and it was YOU who 'saved' me. I'm not stupid, Minato!"

"There was never any relationship between us. I'm just the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki, a tool of Konoha. And you... you're the celebrity, the Hokage's protégé, Jiraiya's proud student. You don't have to waste your precious time with me."

BAM!

After saying this, Kushina slammed the door shut without even looking back.

Just thinking about Minato as a puppet of the Council, interacting with her under their instructions, made her feel nauseous.

She was very clear about one thing.

If she really married Minato...

Then her children and grandchildren, she feared they too would become Nine-Tails Jinchūriki, tools of Konoha, just like her.

And what about Minato?

He was useless. To him, the village would always come first, no matter what or who.

"....."

Upon hearing Kushina's words, Minato touched his slapped cheek, feeling the sting of the blow as if his pride had also been struck.

His mind was agitated, and he couldn't understand how Kushina had reached this point. The changes in her were too great, everything had suddenly become strange... and she had even hit him.

'Wait...'

'How does Kushina know about the Council's plan to save her?'

'Could it be...?'

At that moment, as if a dark suspicion crossed his mind, Minato's expression changed. His fingers clenched around the bouquet of flowers until they almost crushed it, and an unpleasant feeling swept through him.

He only wanted to do his job and serve his village well. He had no real feelings for Kushina, he only wanted to complete the mission assigned to him by the Hokage.

But now, seeing how much Kushina had changed, did it mean that the mission had failed?

No, he couldn't afford to fail this mission.

"Kushina, don't do this! What happened in the past was... it was because I really care about you. Otherwise, do you think I would have risked my life to save you?"

Minato took a deep breath, trying to sound sincere: "Please, give me a chance... I'll prove it to you with my actions."

"Don't force me."

Behind the door, Kushina responded with a cold tone: "If you don't leave right now, I'll release the seal, release the Nine-Tails, and destroy the entire village."

Her voice carried as a terrifying wave of red Chakra emanated from Kushina, so intense that the door seemed to tremble.

"...Okay... don't get upset, I'm leaving right now."

Feeling that fluctuation of Chakra, Minato's expression changed completely: "If you release the Nine-Tails, the village will be destroyed... so don't do anything reckless."

Sigh...

Kushina was utterly disappointed.

This Minato... even now, the only thing he cared about was the village, not her.

"By the way, ever since school, my favorite was the Konoha Superhero: Luo Lei." As if to leave him with no hope and make him give up once and for all, Kushina added one final statement.

"Pfft!"

Upon hearing that, Minato, who had already stepped back more than ten meters, couldn't help but spit out blood. He only had one thought in his mind:

'When the hell did that happen?!'
