It seemed to Uchiha Retsu that this young Uchiha, now promoted by Fugaku, was indeed worthy of cultivation. He thought about the future of this promising talent in the clan.

"If I'm not mistaken, Chiji and Rina must have left you with several basic ninjutsu scrolls," Retsu said, stroking his beard.

Uchiha Haruto nodded, confirming that this was indeed the case, and then added, "Elder Retsu, I've already learned the Great Fireball Jutsu on my own."

Haruto was eager to show his value, hoping to gain more advanced resources for training.

Retsu looked at Haruto approvingly and said, "Very good. The three C-rank Fire Style techniques—Great Fireball Jutsu, Phoenix Flower Jutsu, and Dragon Fire Jutsu—are the foundation of Uchiha's Fire Release system. Only by mastering these three jutsu can you qualify to study the higher-level techniques of the clan."

He continued, "For example, if you add form manipulation to the Great Fireball, it will evolve into the Great Fire Annihilation technique. Similarly, if you add nature transformation to the Dragon Fire Jutsu, you can perform the Great Dragon Fire Jutsu. These basics are crucial. Even the Red Phoenix Flower Claws are closely linked to the Phoenix Flower technique."

Retsu paused for a moment, studying Haruto. "You're not yet ready for the high-level jutsu, but you have enough basic techniques to refine. Today, I will teach you the remaining two Fire Release techniques and show you how to continue improving your fire abilities based on these foundational techniques."

Without another word, Retsu stood up from his recliner and led Haruto outside, ready to begin the lesson.

Haruto's eyes lit up with excitement as he followed Retsu. Aligning with the clan leader had already paid off. Thanks to Uchiha Fugaku's support, a seasoned Jonin like Retsu was now personally guiding him, going beyond simply offering a scroll or a basic demonstration.

However, Retsu's decision to teach Haruto wasn't solely due to Fugaku's influence. At over seventy years old, Retsu's strength had waned over time. Although he no longer fought on the frontlines, his decades-long career as a shinobi had given him immense experience and insight. He had served under several Uchiha clan leaders, from Uchiha Madara's father, Uchiha Tajima, to the current head, Fugaku.

Retsu had seen the clan's glorious peak and its gradual weakening since Konoha's founding. Naturally, he was concerned about the future. Haruto, having opened his Sharingan at ten and showing strong spiritual energy, had the potential to become a key pillar of the clan. Retsu believed it was vital to ensure the younger generation was properly nurtured.

After some time, Haruto and Retsu arrived at the mouth of the lake at the lower end of the Nanga River.

The Nanga Shrine, where the Uchiha clan held its clan meetings, was located downstream. It was by this same river that Madara and Hashirama had met for the first time. Perhaps even they had competed here in their youth, engaging in light-hearted contests to see who could perform basic techniques better.

The small artificial lake near Fugaku's house was also fed by water from the Nanga River. Like most rivers, the upper parts of the Nanga River were narrow and fast-flowing, while the lower reaches were wide and calm, eventually merging into the larger lake. This was an ideal place to practice Fire Release techniques, as the nearby water reduced the risk of accidental fires.

"We'll start with the Dragon Fire Jutsu," Retsu began. "It requires fewer hand seals than other techniques, and you can incorporate ninja tools into the process, making it a little easier."

Retsu handed Haruto a kunai with a wire attached to it. "The Dragon Fire Jutsu only requires four seals: Snake, Dragon, Hare, and Tiger," he explained, slowly forming the hand signs so Haruto could observe clearly.

Haruto activated his Sharingan, closely watching Retsu's hand movements and the flow of chakra throughout his body.

"After forming the seals and gathering your chakra, don't expel it with the same force as a Great Fireball. Instead, condense the flame into a straight line, concentrating its power on a single point."

With that, Retsu spat out a slender, focused flame that shot across the water like a fire dragon.

"Now, try it yourself," Retsu said.

"I've memorized it with my eyes," Haruto replied, eager to please.

Retsu smiled at the response. "Good. Now, for someone at your level, it's best to use kunai and wire with this technique. The wire will help guide the flame in a straight line, and practicing with it will improve your control over Fire Release. You can even soak the wire in flammable oils to amplify the intensity of the flame."

This level of instruction was invaluable, something that those without a connection to a ninja clan would rarely have access to.

"Go ahead, give it a try."

Haruto hurled the kunai with the wire attached, his enhanced vision from the Sharingan allowing him to aim perfectly. The kunai embedded itself in a rock at the center of the lake.

"Snake, Dragon, Hare, Tiger!"

"Fire Style: Dragon Fire Jutsu!"

The flames raced along the wire, reaching the rock and heating it to a glowing red.

"Well done," Retsu nodded in approval before moving on to teach the next technique, the Phoenix Flower Jutsu.

By the end of the day, Haruto had made remarkable progress. He had taken his graduation exam in the morning, received his forehead protector from Furukawa-sensei at noon, and spent the afternoon visiting Uchiha Fugaku. Now, in the last two hours, he had learned advanced Fire Release techniques from Uchiha Retsu himself.

Retsu didn't stop at merely demonstrating the two jutsu. If that had been the case, Haruto could have easily copied the techniques with his Sharingan. Instead, Retsu provided Haruto with critical insights into the subtleties of chakra control, hand seals, and the theory behind each jutsu, helping Haruto understand how to refine his Fire Release skills further.
