Chapter 20: Chapter:20
At the Naka Shrine, Uchiha Tomita looked at Uchiha Hirito, feeling a heavy sense of resignation. He had never anticipated this outcome: he was officially stepping down as head of the Uchiha clan, his role now surrendered to Hirito.
Though reluctant, he acknowledged that such a fate was inevitable. Hirito, who had unlocked the Mangekyō Sharingan, represented a bright future for the clan. Bowing before Hirito, Tomita pulled out a jade-carved magatama, a symbol passed down among Uchiha clan leaders.
"Clan Leader Hirito, lead the Uchiha to a brighter future," Tomita pledged, handing over the token of leadership.
Hirito accepted the token with a promise to his predecessor. The thought lingered in his mind—no matter how dark things might turn, they couldn't be worse than the original fate where Uchiha Itachi had nearly wiped out the clan.
Before the gathered crowd could fully celebrate Hirito's new role, a masked Anbu ninja burst into the scene, shouting, "Enemy attack! Konoha's defensive barrier has been breached!" His panicked gaze fell on Tomita, still half-kneeling before Hirito, stunned into silence.
Seeing the confusion, Tomita stood and clarified, "I am no longer the Uchiha leader. The clan is now under the command of Lord Uchiha Hirito."
Momentarily stunned, the Anbu ninja processed the news before quickly urging Hirito to rally the clan to defend Konoha.
Hirito laughed, waving off the concern. "There's no need for alarm. The barrier broke under the aftershock of my technique."
The Anbu agent gaped, unsure whether to believe him. Konoha's defensive barrier, a seal created by Uzumaki Mito and fortified by Tobirama Senju, required significant force to break. The idea that Hirito's attack could produce such an effect seemed unreal.
Yet the Anbu didn't argue, choosing instead to discreetly exit and report what he had learned. Offending the newly appointed head of the Uchiha clan, especially within the Uchiha compound, was not wise.
Within minutes, his report clarified the situation, and the misunderstanding dissipated. Still, word spread through Konoha's clans like wildfire. The Senju, Hyuga, Ino-Shika-Cho, and others had armed themselves, fearing a full-scale assault. The breach of the village's barrier and the death of the Second Hokage, Tobirama, had everyone on edge.
But it wasn't just the barrier-breaking that shook Konoha's clans. Rumor had it that Uchiha Hirito now held the Mangekyō Sharingan, and with it, power similar to that once wielded by Uchiha Madara.
At the Senju compound, Uzumaki Mito studied the intelligence reports, her expression grave. How had such a formidable Uchiha suddenly surfaced? The information on Hirito—his history, his battles, and the ninjutsu he had mastered—only intensified her unease.
If Tobirama's death had somehow catalyzed this transformation, then Hirito had waited for just the right moment to reveal his true self. Mito held a document containing Tobirama's own words: "Uchiha Hirito, an outlier among the Uchiha clan, has transcended the confines of his bloodline and should be nurtured as an asset to the village."
Reading this, Mito's worry deepened. The young man Tobirama once endorsed now commanded powers far beyond what anyone had anticipated. Hirito's recent behavior—intimidating his clan members with high-level ninjutsu—bordered on madness, yet somehow aligned with his newfound strength. Mito recognized that Hirito's next likely aim was the Hokage's seat, a thought that made her blood run cold.
No one in Konoha, save perhaps herself, could contend with such power. Could Sarutobi Hiruzen? She immediately dismissed the notion. Her own son, Haruto, lacked Hashirama's Wood Release and, as much as she hated to admit it, wouldn't stand a chance. Only the power of the Nine-Tails within her could match Hirito, but she wasn't eager to escalate the conflict to that level.
Her fingers tightened around the report. For now, Hiruzen could be her first line of defense. Tobirama must have seen something in him that others had overlooked, something she hoped could prove useful.
