Chapter 195: Haku, You're a Boy!
After their meal, Haneda took Haku to a bathhouse for a relaxing soak.
Lying in the bath, watching snowflakes drift outside the window, felt incredibly comforting. Haku, too, enjoyed these peaceful moments. Since his mother's passing, it was the first time he'd felt such warmth. The contrast between the snowy outdoors and the cozy indoor warmth made Haku wish he could follow Haneda like this forever.
After a short rest, Haku suddenly remembered something important. He clearly recalled Haneda mentioning that he needed him. It seemed that this need was related to Haku's abilities... For some reason, he began to accept his Ice Release powers, which he once despised.
"Mr. Haneda, are we going to train this afternoon? I heard ninjas train every day," Haku asked hopefully, looking at Haneda.
"No." Haneda glanced at Haku's frail frame and shook his head. In his current state, surviving would be an accomplishment. Haneda didn't want Haku to die from training right after taking him in.
"Give it some time; there's no rush," Haneda said, planting a sword in the snow and signaling for Haku to try to lift it. Haku used all his strength, but the blade barely budged. Lowering his head, he felt discouraged. He couldn't even lift Haneda's sword. How could he be of any use to him? Would he be cast aside if he couldn't help?
"Come on," Haneda said, glancing back at Haku, who looked bulky in oversized clothes. "Those clothes don't suit you well. Let's get you some new ones at the clothing store."
"Okay," Haku replied, looking up at Haneda, feeling touched that Haneda seemed to care about him.
...
At the biggest clothing store in town, Haneda led Haku inside. Everyone around them was dressed fashionably, making Haku feel self-conscious. But seeing Haneda's calm, dignified demeanor, Haku straightened up, determined not to embarrass him.
Inside, a group of female shop attendants flocked to Haneda—his handsome appearance and natural Uchiha clan charisma had instantly captivated them.
"What can I help you with, sir? May I recommend...?" One of the attendants quickly stepped forward while the others looked on with regret.
"Find him some suitable clothes," Haneda said, resting his hand on Haku's head. "Pick whatever you like. Money's not an issue."
"Thank you, Mr. Haneda." Haku nodded, his eyes lighting up as he scanned the array of beautiful outfits. He spotted a pink outfit embroidered with cherry blossoms. "How about this one, Mr. Haneda?"
"That... hmm?" Haneda looked over, seeing a pink, cherry blossom-adorned outfit. "That's a bit too cute; it might not suit you," he replied gently.
Looking a bit disappointed, Haku then pointed to a yellow outfit with floral patterns. "What about this one, Mr. Haneda?"
"This one..." Haneda was at a loss. Haku, you're a boy! Why are you only picking flowery outfits?!
A shop attendant, smiling, commented, "This young lady has great taste! This outfit is one of our best-sellers, popular with many noble girls."
"He's a boy!" Haneda interjected.
"A boy?!" The attendant gasped, covering her mouth as she looked at the exceptionally pretty Haku in disbelief. A boy?!
...
Finally, with Haku's pleading gaze, Haneda reluctantly paid for the pink, flowery outfit. Though he threw in some black and white clothes, he doubted Haku would wear them except when he was around.
"Listen, Haku, a real man... a true man..." Haneda began to lecture, but Haku interrupted, eagerly looking up at him.
"I know. He's clear about what he must do and the direction he needs to strive towards," Haku replied, promising earnestly, "Mr. Haneda, I'll work hard to become a worthy tool for you."
Haneda glanced at Haku, then looked in the direction of the Hidden Mist Village with a slight smile. "I hope so."
...
Watching Haneda confidently stride towards the Hidden Mist, the figure tailing him from the shadows—Zabuza—felt shocked. After what happened earlier, Zabuza couldn't make sense of Haneda's intentions. Taking in an orphan, openly shopping and strolling around—it seemed like a vacation. But Haneda was a renowned Konoha shinobi, a strong figure famed from the Third Shinobi World War. And now, here he was, strolling casually toward the enemy's stronghold?
Zabuza thought of the rumors about the Kaguya clan's coup d'état in the black market and decided to keep following Haneda. If necessary, he would secretly inform the Mist ninjas of Haneda's movements.
...
After two and a half days, Haneda and Haku arrived in the Hidden Mist. The village, nestled in the deep mountains, was shrouded in dense fog, adding an air of mystery. The road was nearly empty, with only a few merchant caravans under Mist ninja protection moving slowly along.
With two days of proper meals, Haku's face had filled out, enhancing his already delicate features. After putting on a simple disguise, Haneda blended in with a merchant group, entering the village as travelers. Any Mist ninja who noticed them was swiftly put under a genjutsu.
Inside the Hidden Mist, Haneda and Haku settled into an inn, though the peace was interrupted by occasional inspections. Nevertheless, things remained relatively calm.
