Chapter 26: 26. 3BF & P Pt 3
Naruto grinned, his heart pounding in his chest as he stood over the remains of the enemies he had just taken down. Blood dripped from his wounds, but he could still feel the thrill of victory coursing through him. The reanimated shinobi had been stronger than he expected, but he'd managed to take them out with his newly developed techniques—an unpredictable mixture of Void chakra-infused Rasengan and a barrage of shadow clones that overwhelmed the enemies with sheer chaos.
"I'm getting the hang of this!" Naruto said to himself, his voice filled with excitement. His confidence surged. He had felt Ryusei's ripples of time guiding him, but for the most part, it had been his skill, his power, that had won these fights. He was stronger now, more capable, and with each passing moment, he felt like he was nearing his full potential.
But as he stood there, chest heaving and adrenaline rushing through him, he spotted another group of shinobi moving through the battlefield. They weren't just any ordinary reanimated shinobi. Their presence was imposing, their power evident even from a distance. These were stronger—much stronger.
The group was led by a legendary shinobi, a figure Naruto recognized immediately from the history books: Raiga, the Sand Demon, a former elite jonin of the Hidden Sand Village. His mastery over sand techniques rivaled even the Kazekage of his time. Reanimated and fueled by Edo Tensei, Raiga's aura was overwhelming, his control over sand evident in the whirlpool of sand swirling around him, ready to crush anything in its path.
Naruto's grin widened, a spark of cockiness lighting up in his eyes. "I've already taken down so many… What's a few more?" he muttered, bracing himself for the next attack. "I can handle this."
Fueled by his earlier victories, Naruto charged in without hesitation. His mind raced with ideas for new jutsu, new ways to use the Void chakra he'd been developing. As he leapt into the air, he formed another Rasengan, this one darker, more volatile than before. He infused it with a new layer of chakra, creating a miniature, ranged version of the attack—a spiraling ball of destructive energy that twisted and warped with the power of the Void.
"Take this!" Naruto shouted, hurling the Void-enhanced Rasengan at Raiga's group. The attack exploded on impact, sending sand and debris flying in all directions. For a brief moment, it looked like he had the upper hand—the reanimated shinobi staggered under the force of his attack, their chakra threads flickering as the Void energy disrupted their control.
Naruto followed up with a series of quick attacks, summoning more shadow clones and launching them into the fray. His clones moved in perfect coordination, each one armed with a Rasengan or kunai, overwhelming the enemies with their sheer numbers. The battlefield was a blur of movement as Naruto pushed himself further and further, his excitement growing with every successful strike.
But in his rush for victory, Naruto didn't notice the subtle shift in Raiga's movements. As he launched another barrage of attacks, Raiga raised his hand, the sand swirling around him in a tight, controlled vortex. The air grew heavier, and before Naruto could react, a massive wave of sand erupted from the ground, moving faster than any of Naruto's previous opponents.
Naruto's eyes widened in shock as the sand enveloped him, trapping him mid-air. He tried to break free, but the sand constricted around him like a vice, crushing his body with immense pressure. He struggled, trying to summon more chakra, but the sand was relentless, squeezing the air from his lungs and rendering his movements sluggish.
"You got cocky, kid," Raiga's voice echoed, cold and detached. "In battle, overconfidence is a death sentence."
Naruto gritted his teeth, struggling to form a Rasengan, but it was too late. The sand constricted even tighter, and before he could react, a sharp, spear-like tendril of sand pierced through his side, the pain exploding through his body.
Naruto screamed, his vision blurring as blood poured from the wound. More tendrils of sand followed, striking him from all sides, embedding into his legs and arms. His body trembled under the weight of the attack, and he felt himself slipping, his chakra reserves almost depleted.
And then, something snapped.
Deep within him, a familiar energy stirred—dark, chaotic, and furious. Naruto's vision blurred as he felt the searing heat of the Nine-Tails' chakra rise from the depths of his being. The pain in his body began to fade, replaced by a burning sensation as the beast's power surged through his veins.
"RAAAHHHH!" Naruto roared, his voice a mixture of his own and the feral growl of the Nine-Tails.
His body erupted with fiery red chakra, two blazing tails forming behind him as the power of Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox, surged to the surface. The sand constricting him exploded outward, unable to withstand the sheer force of the chakra. The air around him rippled with malevolent energy, the ground cracking under the weight of his power.
Raiga took a step back, his eyes narrowing in shock as he watched the transformation. "The Nine-Tails' power… This is far more than I expected."
Naruto's eyes glowed an ominous red, his form partially consumed by the Nine-Tails' chakra cloak. His wounds began to heal at an accelerated rate, the kunai and shuriken embedded in his body disintegrating under the force of the demonic chakra. His breath was ragged, his body shaking with the raw power coursing through him.
But even through the haze of the Nine-Tails' fury, Naruto's mind remained focused. He knew this power was dangerous, that it could consume him if he wasn't careful. But he had no choice—he couldn't lose. Not here. Not now.
"RAIGA!" Naruto roared, his voice echoing across the battlefield.
He charged forward, moving faster than Raiga could react. The ground beneath Naruto cracked with every step, and in an instant, he was upon Raiga, his hands glowing with the fiery red chakra of the Nine-Tails. He slammed his fists into Raiga's sand defenses, the force of the impact shattering the sand barriers like glass.
Raiga tried to retaliate, summoning more sand to entrap Naruto, but it was futile. Naruto's chakra-enhanced blows ripped through the sand like paper, tearing apart Raiga's reanimated body. With a final, furious strike, Naruto slammed a Rasengan—now infused with both Void and Nine-Tails chakra—into Raiga's chest, obliterating him in a flash of destructive energy.
The battlefield fell silent as Raiga's body disintegrated into dust, the reanimation jutsu failing under the sheer force of Naruto's attack.
Naruto stood there, panting heavily, the red chakra of the Nine-Tails still swirling around him. His eyes slowly returned to their normal blue as the power of the beast receded, leaving him standing amidst the ruins of the battlefield, victorious but shaken.
He had won—but only barely.
Naruto clenched his fists, his body trembling as the reality of the fight set in. He had let his confidence get the better of him, and it had almost cost him his life. But even in the face of overwhelming odds, he had pushed himself beyond his limits. He had survived.
And now, more than ever, he knew he had to keep getting stronger.
As Naruto stood amidst the swirling dust and fading remains of Raiga, his body still trembling from the immense power of the Nine-Tails, the air around him began to ripple subtly. The distorted waves of time twisted for a brief moment, and in an instant, Ryusei appeared, stepping calmly through the ethereal disturbance.
He crossed his arms, a small but approving smile playing at the corner of his lips as he surveyed the scene. The battlefield was littered with the remnants of Naruto's hard-fought victory—shattered sand constructs and the dissipating chakra of fallen enemies. It was clear that Naruto had pushed himself to his absolute limit.
Ryusei's voice broke the silence, calm and yet filled with a certain pride. "Good work, Naruto. You held your own and went beyond what I expected." He paused, glancing at the traces of the Nine-Tails' chakra still lingering in the air. "Even if you had to tap into Kurama's power, you kept your mind clear enough to use it well."
Naruto, still catching his breath, wiped the sweat from his brow, his face showing both exhaustion and relief. "Yeah… I didn't think I'd need to use Kurama's chakra, but they were tough—way tougher than I expected."
Ryusei nodded, his eyes narrowing as he glanced toward the remaining reanimated shinobi still lingering in the distance, unaware that their strongest leaders had already fallen. "You've grown a lot today, but we're not done yet. There are still more of them to deal with. Think you can finish them off?"
Naruto straightened up, his exhaustion momentarily forgotten as his determination reignited. His fists clenched as he looked at the remaining enemies with a sense of renewed purpose. "Of course! I'm not stopping now. I've gotta finish what I started."
Ryusei smiled slightly. "That's what I like to hear. Take them out, and we'll decide where to head next. We can either keep moving to the next battlefield or—" Ryusei paused, his eyes meeting Naruto's with a knowing look, "—we can head to Slssp."
Naruto blinked, wiping the dust from his face. "Slssp? What's that?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.
Ryusei's expression grew serious for a moment, a hint of mystery in his voice. "It's an ancient training ground hidden within the folds of time. A place where chakra and energy behave differently, where warriors from different eras trained. But it's dangerous. It's not something we do lightly."
Naruto's eyes lit up with excitement, his exhaustion forgotten. "That sounds awesome! Dangerous or not, it's gotta be an incredible place to train!"
Ryusei chuckled softly. "I figured you'd be interested. But first, finish off these reanimated shinobi. If you've still got energy after that, then we'll decide whether to head to Slssp or keep fighting. Either way, it's going to push you even further."
Naruto nodded, his resolve returning. He took a deep breath, his chakra flaring once more as he prepared for the next fight. "Alright, Ryusei. I'm not backing down. I'll finish this, and then we can go wherever we need to. I'll be ready."
Without another word, Naruto charged forward, his feet moving swiftly across the battlefield as he targeted the remaining reanimated shinobi. The once-dormant spark of energy within him reignited with purpose as he formed a new Rasengan, this time more controlled, more precise. With each strike, he unleashed a series of coordinated attacks, using the skills he had honed from his earlier battles.
The reanimated shinobi, though skilled, were no match for Naruto's newfound confidence and power. His Rasengan, now infused with controlled Void chakra, tore through their defenses, destabilizing the chakra threads that kept them bound to the world of the living. One by one, they collapsed, their bodies disintegrating as the reanimation jutsu failed.
Naruto moved with fluid grace, his shadow clones darting across the battlefield, overwhelming the remaining enemies with their sheer numbers. His mastery of his chakra had reached new heights, and with Ryusei's silent encouragement, he continued to push himself further.
As the last of the reanimated shinobi crumbled to dust, Naruto skidded to a halt, his chest heaving as he wiped the sweat from his brow. He had done it. The battlefield was silent now, the remnants of the enemy forces gone.
Ryusei stepped forward, the ripples of time around him still settling as he approached Naruto. "Well done," he said, his voice calm but with an unmistakable hint of pride. "You've proven that you can adapt, grow, and fight even when the odds are stacked against you."
Naruto, still catching his breath, managed a grin. "Yeah… but I'm not done yet. So… what's it gonna be? Are we heading to Slssp?"
Ryusei glanced around the battlefield, considering their options. "We've done enough damage here for now. The Akatsuki forces will be scrambling after this. If you're ready, we'll head to Slssp. But know this, Naruto—it's not just another training ground. The energies there will test you in ways you've never imagined. If you're not careful, it could break you."
Naruto's grin widened, his eyes filled with determination. "Bring it on. If it's a chance to get stronger, I'm in."
Ryusei smiled, the air around him beginning to ripple again as the fabric of time shifted subtly. "Then let's go. It's time for you to take the next step."
With a single, fluid motion, Ryusei raised his hand, and the world around them began to distort. The battlefield blurred, the edges of reality twisting as Ryusei summoned the energy of the Void and Time. The ground beneath them rippled like water, and in an instant, the two of them vanished, leaving the battlefield behind as they journeyed toward the mysterious and ancient training ground of Slssp, where Naruto's real test awaited.
The next stage of his growth was about to begin.
As the rippling of time and space settled, Naruto found himself standing in what looked like the edge of a dense, misty forest. The air felt thick, almost buzzing with a strange energy, and the ground beneath him was soft, like it was pulsing in sync with his own chakra. His eyes widened with excitement, his head swiveling as he tried to take in everything around him.
"So this is Slssp, huh?" Naruto said, his voice filled with awe. "Man, I can already feel the energy in the air! This place is awesome! It's like the ground itself is alive with chakra. What kind of crazy training do we do here? Are we gonna fight past warriors? Summon giant beasts? Maybe there's some ancient shinobi technique I can learn to make my Rasengan even crazier!"
Ryusei, standing a few steps behind Naruto, crossed his arms, trying to suppress the grin spreading across his face. He watched Naruto bounce with excitement like a kid in a candy store. The ripples of time around them had brought them to a completely calm space, and Ryusei knew that Naruto had completely misunderstood where they were.
Naruto kept going, his enthusiasm building with every word. "Seriously, this place feels like it's on a whole different level! What's the first step, Ryusei? Hit me with it. I'm ready to train!"
Ryusei couldn't hold it back any longer and burst out laughing, his voice echoing in the quiet mist. "Naruto… 'Slssp' isn't some legendary training ground," he managed between laughs. "It's sleep."
Naruto blinked, his grin freezing in place for a moment as the realization hit him. "Wait… what?"
Ryusei, still chuckling, clapped Naruto on the shoulder. "Slssp isn't some mystical place, Naruto. It's just me telling you it's time to sleep. Rest up. You've been fighting nonstop, and your body needs time to recover."
Naruto's face twisted from excitement into disbelief as the truth sank in. "Sleep?! You got me all hyped up for sleep?! Come on, Ryusei! You made it sound like we were about to head to some super-secret ninja training ground!"
Ryusei shook his head, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye as his laughter subsided. "I did say it was dangerous, didn't I? You've been pushing yourself nonstop. Resting is just as important as fighting, especially before the big day."
Naruto crossed his arms and pouted, still not entirely over the disappointment. "Man, I thought we were about to unlock some crazy new power, and now you're telling me to take a nap."
Ryusei grinned, still amused. "You've done plenty for today, Naruto. You've fought harder than anyone else could have. You need to recover so that when the real fight comes, you're at your best. You don't want to face the Akatsuki and Edo Tensei when you're only half-charged, do you?"
Naruto let out a long sigh, realizing Ryusei had a point. "Yeah, yeah, I know. Still, 'Slssp' could've been a little cooler," he muttered, rubbing the back of his head.
Ryusei shrugged, smirking. "Hey, it got your attention, didn't it?"
Naruto chuckled, finally letting go of his frustration. "Yeah, you got me good. Fine, fine. Let's get some rest then. But don't blame me when I wake up with enough energy to crush the next field single-handedly."
Ryusei gave him a mock salute. "I'll take my chances."
With that, they found a quiet spot near the edge of the forest where they could settle down for the night. The misty atmosphere that had felt so charged earlier now seemed calming, as if it was encouraging them to rest. Naruto lay back on the soft ground, still grumbling quietly about being tricked into thinking there was a new training ground.
As the silence fell over them, Ryusei glanced at Naruto. "You did well today, Naruto. And there's more training to come, but you need to take care of yourself too. Get some sleep—you've earned it."
Naruto, already starting to drift off, nodded. "Yeah, yeah… but tomorrow, I'm definitely gonna make you train me harder. No tricks, Ryusei. I'm ready for anything."
Ryusei smiled softly. "Tomorrow, Naruto. But for now, rest."
Naruto's breathing soon slowed, the exhaustion of the day finally catching up with him. As the mist swirled gently around them, Ryusei leaned back against a tree, his thoughts drifting to the battles yet to come. They had made great strides, but the true test still lay ahead. For now, though, sleep was their best weapon.
With a quiet sigh, Ryusei closed his eyes, allowing himself to rest as well, knowing that tomorrow would bring new challenges—and Naruto would be ready for them.
