Chapter 42: The correct answer
Chapter 42: The
Correct Answer
Sakura's sudden words surprised Menma. He didn't expect her
to be so courageous. Whether she could see clearly was one thing, but being
able to make a decisive decision was another. At least at this point, Menma was
a little impressed with Sakura.
A strange glint quickly flashed across Kakashi's eyes.
"That's okay! I'll give you the bell, Sakura. At
worst, I can just ask the Third Hokage for another chance to graduate. Anyway,
I will definitely get another chance," Naruto said, waving his hand
quickly and tossing the bell in his hand to Menma, Sasuke, and Sakura. He then
patted his chest hard, trying to prove the credibility of his words.
"Hmph, I don't need this bell either. I'll graduate
next year," Sasuke said after taking a deep breath and throwing the bell
back into Naruto's hand. Although he really wanted to take the second test and
didn't want to waste another year in the academy, his self-esteem didn't allow
him to accept the bell just like that.
"What are you doing, Sasuke? I gave it to you out of
kindness. I told you I would definitely get another chance to graduate from the
Third Hokage!" Naruto said, looking anxious.
"Humph, I don't need such kindness!" Sasuke
folded his hands on his chest and said coldly. The pride of the Uchiha clan
didn't require such kindness.
"Hey, this guy!" Naruto raised his eyebrows,
about to continue speaking.
Clap, clap, clap. "Very good! All four of you have
passed the test!!!" Kakashi suddenly clapped his hands, delivering the
surprising news without any preamble.
Except for Menma, the other three were stunned.
"Ah?" "What?" "Eh!?" They
stared at Kakashi in disbelief.
"What does this mean? Brother Kakashi, how did this
happen all of a sudden?" Naruto asked, staring blankly at Kakashi.
"Haha, the question you just asked was actually a
test. I am very satisfied with your answer, so you passed the assessment. Menma
must have noticed it from the beginning, right? My real intention in setting up
this assessment," Kakashi said with a slight smile, then turned his eyes
to Menma and spoke softly.
"Eh? Really? Menma!?" Naruto asked, looking at
Menma in surprise. Sakura and Sasuke's eyes also fell on Menma.
"I can't say it was from the beginning, but I had a
rough guess. Kakashi-sensei, you set this test to see if we have the awareness
of teamwork, right?" Menma nodded slightly and replied calmly.
"Teamwork?" "Um?" While Naruto was
mumbling to himself, Sasuke's eyebrows showed a not-so-happy look. Sakura felt
completely relaxed and elated, thinking how fortunate it was to pass the
graduation examination. She had already prepared herself to be laughed at by
her peers and family members for returning to the academy.
Now it seemed there was a bright side. Sakura had plenty of
reasons to be happy!
"Well, Menma is right. It is teamwork. In the world of
ninjas, the assignment of tasks and the execution of orders are important. But
to complete these, tacit cooperation between a team is essential. A person's
power is limited. This is why ninjas must work in teams to receive and perform
tasks. You've graduated from the academy, but you need to understand the
importance of the team and companions. No one can be separated from the
collective," Kakashi said seriously.
"Is that so? I was really worried about not being able
to graduate before. Hahaha, if you told me earlier, Brother Kakashi, you don't
have to worry about teamwork. Our team definitely has it. Right, Menma, Sasuke,
Sakura?" Naruto patted his chest with a smile.
Seeing Naruto's attitude, Kakashi shook his head in
amusement.
"I don't know who just said they wanted to find the
Third Hokage?" Kakashi nodded at Naruto.
"Ahaha, isn't that just a casual comment? Just a
casual comment," Naruto touched the back of his head, embarrassed, and
smiled.
"So, we can consider it a successful graduation,
Brother Kakashi?" Naruto moved closer, looking up at Kakashi with
twinkling eyes.
"Well, you are all qualified," Kakashi said with
a smile.
As mentioned before, among the students graduating this
year, even if others cannot graduate and have to return to the academy, 99.9%
of the students in Team 7 must graduate successfully. Unless Kakashi judged
that Menma couldn't participate in ninja life normally, but that was almost
impossible. Menma had been personally certified by the Third Hokage as a stable
and eager-to-be-recognized Nine-Tails Jinchuriki worthy of cultivation and
trust. Although his personality was a little cold, it was understandable and
could be improved gradually. Menma's graduation was a foregone conclusion. Not
to mention, Naruto and Sasuke had equally special identities. Even without
these considerations, Menma and the others' performance had met Kakashi's
expectations. The four could graduate and perform missions officially.
"Yoshi, our Team 7 is officially formed. So, as a
celebration, Brother Kakashi, do you want to express your gratitude?"
Naruto cheered, approaching Kakashi with a smile and looking hopeful.
"Well, we should celebrate. Today is also the first
day our Team 7 is officially formed. I'll treat you to a good meal, and then
have a good rest for a day. We'll go receive the official mission
tomorrow!" Kakashi smiled and nodded.
"way to go Brother Kakashi!" Naruto raised his
hands and cheered loudly.
"Menma, Sasuke, you won't refuse this time,
right?" Naruto asked, looking at Menma and Sasuke.
