NBA Skills: Dominating Kuroko no Basket

Chapter 49: Hearts in Harmony

After that, Shiro stopped looking at Haizaki and turned his gaze to Momoi. Momoi, a little embarrassed, looked back at him with her face flushed red, but her eyes showed no sign of avoiding him.

"Shiro, thank you" she said softly, her voice carrying a hint of shyness and gratitude.

Nearby, Akashi gave a knowing look, sighing to himself, 'These two, really…'

At that moment, Aomine approached, grinning playfully as he slung an arm around Shiro's neck, teasing him, "Nice, Shiro! You've gotten even stronger!"

Shiro calmly removed Aomine's arm from his shoulder, his expression steady. "It's not that I've improved—it's just that he's too weak" he replied coolly, his words dripping with disdain for Haizaki.

"True. I don't get why someone so weak has the nerve to taunt others with that nasty attitude. It's disgusting" Aomine's face darkened, clearly displeased by Haizaki's behavior, though he no longer considered Haizaki a threat. He was leagues below Shiro's level, after all.

"Shiro, do you think you might have crushed his confidence?" Nijimura asked, smiling a bit wryly as he stepped forward, lowering his voice.

"I went easy on him" Shiro replied indifferently.

Nijimura nodded with effort. He knew just how terrifying Shiro's actual strength was and felt a bit disappointed in Haizaki, who wasn't nearly as formidable as Nijimura had once thought.

Haizaki, meanwhile, was slowly regaining his senses. His gaze was filled with rage and unwillingness as he glared at Shiro, as if he wanted to tear him apart.

Shiro sensed Haizaki's stare but merely smirked internally. 'If you can't beat me on the court, do you think fighting will get you anywhere? I don't have time to mess around with you! '

"Oh, right, Shiro, come here. I need to talk to you" Nijimura suddenly called, as if remembering something important. Shiro nodded and strode over without hesitation.

"Shiro, I'll wait for you!" Momoi called to him with her soft, sweet voice, quickly disappearing from the court with a flushed face. At that moment, everyone couldn't help but smile.

On the other side of the court, Nijimura looked serious and thoughtful, as if the upcoming topic was quite important. He faced Shiro and said, "Shiro, our basketball team has always needed a capable vice-captain. Everyone recognizes your strength. If you're willing to take on the role, it would greatly help the team. Actually, this is also Coach Shirogane's suggestion"

Shiro thought carefully before responding sincerely, "Captain, you know my personality—I'm not really suited to managing or leading a team. Instead of an vice-captain's role, I'd rather focus on becoming an outstanding player, charging forward on the court like a sharp sword. In my opinion, Akashi would be a better choice for the role. As the heir to the Seijuro family, he's surely received professional training and education for such responsibilities."

Shiro's tone was steady, his stance clear, conveying his sincere feelings.

Nijimura rolled his eyes. 'Aren't you also the sole heir of the Kawakami family? ' But he had to consider Shiro's words. Akashi indeed seemed a better fit for vice-captain.

"Alright, I'll convey this to Coach Shirogane. If you don't want the role, we won't push it on you" Nijimura said, nodding thoughtfully with a hint of understanding and respect in his eyes. He understood that everyone had their own choices and wouldn't impose. Shiro was somewhat relieved, this wasn't something he was suited for.

"Alright, Captain, I'll be going now" Shiro said quietly, knowing Momoi was waiting for him. Nijimura's solemn expression softened as a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes.

"So, how are things going with you and Momoi? The whole team's rooting for you two!" Nijimura asked, his curiosity unmistakable.

Shiro felt embarrassed, coughing to mask his awkwardness. "Captain, since when are you so nosy? And why does the whole team know about it? Am I that obvious?"

Knowing that people had noticed his feelings made Shiro a bit uncomfortable. Despite his two lifetimes, he still felt sheepish over his affection for a middle school girl.

"Come on, anyone with eyes can tell! Don't tell me nothing's happened yet" Nijimura muttered, glancing at Shiro with a look of mild disdain, as if saying, How can you be so dense?

Taking a deep breath, Shiro finally smiled at Nijimura. "Thanks for your concern, Captain. But as for Momoi and me, I think it's best to let things take their natural course"

Feeling Nijimura's inquisitive gaze, Shiro quickly found an excuse to leave. "Alright, alright, I'm off to change!" he said, quickly heading toward the locker room.

Nijimura watched Shiro's retreating figure, hands on his hips as he sighed. "Ah, youth—both wonderful and troublesome!" Then a thought struck him. 'Wait a second, I'm single too! Why's he the one in a relationship?' he grumbled internally, cursing Shiro for flaunting his relationship on the court!

"Momoi, let's head out" Shiro said, reappearing in fresh clothes. He flashed a soft smile at Momoi, his eyes filled with warmth.

"Alright!" she replied, lightly tucking a lock of her silky hair behind her ear. She walked toward Shiro with a graceful, sweet smile, her gaze meeting his in a way that made the world seem brighter.

In that moment, time seemed to stop, and they both silently wished this beautiful moment could last forever. Their hearts seemed to resonate, and they shared a smile, as if in perfect harmony.
