Before Larry Riley could finish his explanation, Silas interrupted him, sounding puzzled.

"Wait, what do you mean I'm not satisfied? The players you found are all good. We beat our opponents by 24 points. I'm very satisfied!"

Larry Riley was stunned for a moment. Then, cautiously, he said, "You just said that they all performed well?"

"That's right, especially those three undrafted players. The characteristics you marked on the player list are very accurate, allowing me to arrange tactics suitable for them. We have to keep them all. At least they have the strength to be substitutes, and Wesley Matthews still has considerable potential to be tapped," Silas replied with a smile.

Larry Riley was shocked. Could it be that the boss was genuinely keeping a close eye on these low-level, overlooked players and knew their strengths and potential?

"In fact, the boss asked me to recruit them to the team. The markings on the player list were also made by the boss..." Larry admitted with a wry smile.

He didn't dare take all the credit. If Silas praised him in front of Liam, it would be exposed quickly.

"What? The boss asked you to find them?" Silas was just as stunned. He never would have guessed that Liam was behind this. Liam had only just acquired the team. How could he find three talented players who fit the Warriors' tactics in just one month?

Even experienced scouts rely on some degree of luck in the summer league. Silas couldn't believe that Liam, a rookie head coach, had such a sharp eye for talent.

He knew that Liam had discovered Curry and Butler, but over the past month, Liam had been busy with Curry's draft and trade as well as stabilizing the team. There was no time to observe new players.

Isn't it true that not only does playing basketball require talent, but being a coach does too?

Silas suddenly realized it wasn't without reason that he'd been an assistant coach for so many years. If it weren't for Liam's markings on the player list, he wouldn't have noticed the standout qualities of Wesley Matthews and the others.

Forget about my coaching dream, maybe I should just go home...

While his thoughts spun, Larry Riley suddenly asked, "Stephen, have you ever met a 26-year-old team owner?"

"No," Silas replied with a sigh. Not only had he never seen it, but he'd also never even heard of it.

"And what about a 24-year-old championship coach?"

"Neither have I," Silas answered, feeling defeated. He was 34 years old and still an assistant coach.

"The world of geniuses is beyond our understanding. Just follow the boss's arrangements," Larry Riley sighed.

Silas nodded mechanically and hung up the phone.

Suddenly, he felt a bit useless. The players were found by the boss at Larry's behest, Butler was picked by the boss, Lowry was traded by the boss, and the tactics? All based on the boss's written instructions...

Is this the legendary saying that with great power comes great responsibility?

...

The next day, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Curry drove Liam to a small local stadium.

He parked the car in the lot, and the two of them got out, heading toward the building.

"Boss, do I really not need to play in the summer league? Griffin, Harden, and others are going," Curry asked in a low voice.

After the draft, Curry had been ready to participate in the summer league and had even contacted Silas via Dell to prepare.

But Liam had informed him that he wouldn't need to go to Las Vegas for the games. Yesterday, Liam came to Charlotte and told Curry he was taking him somewhere, so they had come here.

Hearing Curry's question, Liam chuckled, "Stephen, the summer league won't challenge you or help your development. It'd be a complete waste of time for you to play in it."

"Okay, but I've seen some media, like ESPN, saying I'm afraid of not playing in the summer league…" Curry muttered.

After the draft, everyone knew the Warriors had gone all out to trade for Curry. Because Liam had acquired the team, many experts who initially predicted Curry would go early in the draft began to question him.

They wondered if Curry could handle the NBA's physicality or if he would become another bust.

But others quickly defended him. Bill Simmons wrote:

"I don't understand these people's thinking. Maybe they're too focused on the cheerleaders' thighs, but it's a shame those old men can only look…

"If Steph Curry were as fragile as the donuts I eat every morning, Coach Liam wouldn't need to hide it. He could let Curry participate in the tryout, scare off the competition, and still pick him with the 7th pick instead of hiding him in a closet, hoping no one notices…

"Clearly, Coach Liam feared Curry's tryout would be too impressive, sparking a bidding war for him—just like my wife does every Black Friday in the supermarket. Curry is going to shock everyone this season, mark my words!"

This article, with Simmons' signature sharp style, won over many fans.

Online debates broke out, with traditional columnists pessimistic about Curry and doubting he could make it in the NBA, while a newer generation of basketball analysts, focused on efficiency and data, cautiously supported him.

While they admitted Curry's efficiency might drop in the NBA, they praised his three-point shooting.

Curry, affected by the debate, wanted to prove himself in the game.

Liam smiled. "Don't let the outside noise sway you. The summer league doesn't matter; the new season is what counts."

By this time, the two had reached the gym entrance. A sturdy white man in his thirties walked up to them.

"Coach Liam, I've been waiting for you," the man greeted them warmly.

Liam shook his hand and smiled. "Brand, just call me Liam."

The man grinned and turned to Curry. "Stephen, welcome to the basketball acceleration camp!"

"Training camp?" Curry asked, confused.

"That's right. Come inside and see for yourself," Brand smiled, gesturing for them to follow.

As they walked, Liam introduced him. "This is Brand Payne, founder of the basketball acceleration camps and one of the best trainers out there. He used to coach at Wingate University."

Payne modestly replied, "The camp is just starting, and I'm still a new trainer."
