Chapter 258: Bloody Battle
Dyne stood at the very front and attacked the monsters that passed through the Plasma Storm and the Ice Wall.
Many other beasts rushed to the sides, and the team began to fight them and kept maintaining a defensive perimeter.
Dyne charged deeper to test his new abilities. He used his sword and shot with the Wild Arm and fought just like Zero as numerous slimes approached. Finally, they easily moved through the wall with their ability to move from the icy floor without hindrance, and they charged at Dyne.
SLASH! SLASH!
Dyne’s sword was sharp and easily sliced through the Slimes. It struck the core deep inside the slimes and instantly killed them.
The Killer Bisons finally managed to charge through, and Dyne used his blaster's arm and shot several rounds of fire bullets at these beasts.
BOOM! BOOM!
The power of the Zenoir was harnessed, and the natural attacks of Dyne were now stronger.
But more and more monsters emerged and moved through the ice wall.
Killer Bisons with Kabuki Rats hopped on top of them and the Death Wing butterflies flew towards Dyne together.
Dyne’s sword began to burn with fire.
Dyne made a burning upward slash as he vaulted through the air.
“Dragon Flame Blade!” Dyne shouted one of Zero’s moves.
SLASH!
The upward slash burned through the numerous monsters and killed the Kabuki Rats and the Death Wing that flew.
As Dyne was landing, he performed a spinning attack as he slashed Grim, creating a circular slash.
“Sky Waltz!” Dyne shouted and performed another one of Zero’s most abused moves in Megaman X4.
SLASH!
The Killer Bison was finally cut at the second attack.
CRACK!
The ice wall began to fall.
“Everyone form a defensive perimeter! Fighters up front! Support at the back! Gather closer, everyone!” Dyne ordered.
Jaden, Scyther, Chad, Vahn, Gala, and Tetsu rushed to the front. They were the most confident in fighting the hordes of monsters that appeared.
But as the ice fell, the Mist that shrouded them was somewhat lighter than before. And the shocking scene of all beasts that managed to survive the Viguro’s attack was revealed. It was so many that even Jaden had a hint of fear.
“This is… an army of monsters?” Jaden asked. They were not able to clearly see it through the Mist. But it was as if Fate intimidated them that the Mist revealed their numbers.
“Take courage. Fighting Fate isn’t easy. It’s impossible. And that is cultivation. We face the odds and grow stronger than the impossible becomes possible.” Dyne held on.
“This form before you is that which breaks the impossible! So you guys have to push yourself!”
The group held on and braced itself as the seemingly unending number of creatures rushed toward them.
“Hold the line, guys! Vahn! Move a little back! The rest support the front lines. Noa, Vahn! Cast Theeder now!” Dyne ordered as he released his magic as well.
Four Theeders belonging to Dyne, Jedo, Noa, and Vahn appeared and began to attack with a turning laser.
KZZZT! KZZZZT!
The laser attack wiped out several rows of the monsters at the front, but many more kept charging in!
“Team Chocobo! Move out and draw out the enemy! Keep kiting the enemy on the sides to lessen the main load!! Shiva, keep charging for more attacks and create walls whenever you can! The monsters may try to move from the sides of the wall, so follow my lead, and let’s fight while moving to the sides!”
“Yes!” Everyone answered.
The number of monsters began to grow and grow as they broke through the ice.
“Fight!” Dyne shouted as numerous spells were shot, and Serus was summoned to fight the charging beasts.
The wild and gruesome battle lasted for several hours.
The rounds of Seru casts were not enough. Even with Shiva’s attacks or another Viguro summon, it still couldn’t attack them.
Fate had already calculated the amount and strength of Seru summons that Dyne and his team could do. So it lured Dyne to face hordes immediately to force him to make those cast and be overwhelmed and retreat.
But Dyne knew that this would happen.
And so, Dyne kept stopping the team from wasting their magic and used various means to escape and flee. And after being able to gather with such a great monster, their Seru summons could kill more, especially since the monster horde was more crowded.
Viguro and Gizam’s attack could hit and kill more at each casting.
But even then, it wasn’t enough to kill the massive army of beasts.
The team fought and would even reach a melee, holding the line for a time.
But just when the line would break, Dyne would use the Spikefish Flute.
The Spikefish Flutes were all used up as they kept using them in critical moments to flee back to the sides to cast another round of magic or to save those who were wounded and in critical condition. This allowed the team to make devastating attacks from afar.
But with the number of enemies that surrounded them, Jaden and the rest had to use healing items and tools that even came to the point that they would just bite a healing item one after the other.
The key reason why Dyne had won was the Serus that they summoned that managed to wipe out a great number of the beasts.
The team was also nearly depleted in their items and healing tools.
Rena and Chrone could no longer move. Even with the numerous magic potions and mana-restoring herbs, their body had reached the limit that even the generation of magic stopped!
Soon, Dyne had to use another Spikefish Flute to pull Esto, Rei, and Ipkus through the Slimes that they had. Unfortunately, the wounds they had could not easily be healed by the healing items as they were knocked out and drained of every stamina that they had.
Dyne still hadn’t acquired the ‘Pheonix’ items in Legaia, which could grant people the stamina to regain consciousness and fight back. And so, while these three were healed, they remained unconscious.
The slimes brought the three wounded me to the back and returned to fight. But with the loss of these three, the team of Dyne felt even greater pressure.
Chad and Jaden finally also fainted as they could no longer keep up their defenses and made Dyne use various skills to save them and another Spikefish Flute from having them pulled out.
But things grew bad when Vahn was attacked and became unconscious.
The battle turned into an all-out melee, and Arya, Scyther, and the Agumon-fusion were eventually attacked and wounded.
Noa and Shiva made one last combined attack, and the ice energy broke out to kill as many as possible.
But Noa and Shiva overdraft their mana, and they both fall unconscious.
Ishreth quickly followed as she made several wide attacks that exploded around the area.
At the end of it all, Dyne was deep within the ranks as the numerous beasts surrounded him,
There was blood all around him, but he kept pushing deeper.
The Zero armor was badly damaged, and Dyne gathered all his attacks and used Trance. Then, he channeled the darkness and the berserked madness into Jedo to create a combined attack.
“Fallen Phoenix Crush!”
BOOM!
A massive explosion that harnessed the Dark energy of Jedo and released it out like small round magic balls burst out and killed the last number of the monsters.
Dyne fell to the ground after this, and his fusion with the Serus and Wild Arm ended.
Godhand appeared and had various cracks all over its body.
Rena quickly channeled the last bits of her magic to heal Godhand, who was very close to dying.
“That’s it… I can’t… cast any...more…” Rena fainted.
Only Tetsu and Serge stood as they saw the massive dead monsters around them.
Brod and Bertugo were badly wounded, but they were able to keep standing with their monster vitality. But neither had the power to fight.
The Slimes would have died several times if not for how there were other dead slimes around the area they consumed and merged with their own.
Ultimately, the slime creatures were the last team members that could move and fight well.
“Calamity… Get me up…” Dyne voiced out.
“The rest… bring everyone close to one place… I will use the last of my remaining power... to absorb all these experience and divide it all to everyone!” Dyne voiced out.
Calamity moved and made Dyne sit up.
“Master Dyne… Is it safe to be here? What if…?” Tetsu asked as he looked around.
“Don’t… worry! That’s why... I didn’t bring Nanaki.” Dyne smiled.
“Nanaki?” Tetsu recalled the wolf that Dyne found, who used to be Terra’s host.
“It seems you guys had quite an adventure!” Guardian Kin’s voice was heard.
He and several Monks arrived, and Nanaki was with them.
“Guardian Kin!” Tetsu was delighted to see him.
“This wolf suddenly moved out, and we had no choice but to chase after it. We were worried.” Guardian Kin smiled.
A monk hastily ran over to Dyne and gave him medicine.
Dyne recovered enough strength to stand up well.
"Guardian Kin! Please guard. And let your monks move closer. I will be giving out all the experience points we can get from these monsters!"
