My Adept class only helped me reach a rank II proficiency. The fact that I had reached rank IV in both [Fox Fire] and [Ki] had to be because of my race. Speaking of which, my race had been upgraded to 9 Tailed Fox Princess.

I smiled helplessly. It seems I was destined to be a princess. I had always dreamed of being the hero growing up. To think I would now be playing the role of the one needing saving. Well… This princess would save herself.

I glanced around at my trusty companions and the faint smile on my face grew brittle. Cheddar and the rest of the monkey monsters were still passed out, even though the sun had already risen high in the sky.

My race wasn’t the only thing to change. The tips of my black hair and my tails were now ice blue, the same color as Ash’s hair. I didn’t think it was a coincidence. Reaching [Ki IV] had connected my body to my soul in a deeper and more profound manner.

“Now if only my voice had changed.”

I sighed to myself. My voice was as cold as ever. At this rate, my race might as well be Ice Princess. It was funny to think about it, considering I primarily used [Fox Fire] to fight.

I noticed that it was getting harder to smile. What used to make me beam with happiness now only produced a faint smile on my face. My cold voice and my lack of expressions were all problems that would have to wait until I got out of this dungeon.

I talked to the various helper monkeys and worked with them to prepare a big breakfast for everyone. Cheddar was quick to wake up to the scent of smoked meat and staggered over to my side.

Several other monsters joined in on the impromptu feast, but Boss Bro remained out like a light. I took the opportunity to familiarize myself with Boss Bro’s subordinates and look around his territory.

It was unfortunate, but the exit to this dungeon wasn’t in Boss Bro’s territory either. Cheddar and I had searched every corner of the dungeon with no luck. The only place left was the Six-tailed Red Fox’s territory.

The four scars across my torso burned. I wasn’t too displeased to learn I would need to pay back the boss that killed me once in the past. Even if its level was far higher, I was confident that my [Ki IV] and [Fox Fire IV], along with my many allies, were enough to overcome the difference.

Boss Bro woke up late in the afternoon. He remained silent as always, but still managed to communicate his intentions to join our quest to overthrow the big, bad fox. It was too late to fight today, so I spent the night with Boss Bro again while Cheddar gathered his pack and brought them to Boss Bro’s territory.

The next morning, over a month after I found myself trapped in this dungeon, we set out to conquer the dungeon.

I led the way. Cheddar and his pack, as well as Boss Bro and his gorilla drinking buddies, followed behind me.

We left the densely packed forest of fruit trees into a sparsely forested area with several clearings. We didn’t encounter any monsters as all of the ones with any modicum of good sense knew to avoid us.

The signs of life and activity steadily decreased as we got closer and closer to the Six-tailed Red Fox’s territory. I stopped in my tracks the moment the forest fell silent. This was it. We were at the border of the boss’ territory.

A chill raced down my spine. Just ahead of me was the area that I died and was forced to reincarnate. I could clearly feel death’s scythe hanging over my neck. I had cheated death once. I wouldn’t be nearly as lucky a second time.

A warm, fluffy body rubbed against my leg. Another fluffy body rubbed against my other side. Cheddar and Olive were trying to cheer me up. That was right. I was no longer alone. Cheddar’s pack… No, my pack was with me.

“Let’s go, everyone. We have a boss to slay.”
