Chapter 34
The cover song presentations of the other members, which I had been preparing for a while, were just around the corner.
Since everyone was at a similar stage of preparation, the quality turned out to be quite similar as well. I heard that we’ll be announcing one member per day in a relay format.
Well, announcing it this way will definitely lead to comparisons somewhere, but it seems the motivated members have decided to take on that risk since there’s news about the recruitment of the second generation of the Celestial Realm Project.
Besides, it’s not like we’re just releasing one or two cover songs, and if we set up a schedule where we wait for each other every few days, it would get complicated, right?
So, even though doing it all on the same day might be a bit much, I think it’s fine to do it day by day.
As for me? I don’t really have plans to release a cover song yet, so I’m just daydreaming.
Rather, I’ve been busy drawing album art lately.
I know it’s not something you can finish in just one or two tries, so I’m sketching drafts in whatever time I have and sending them off.
There’s no urgent time constraint, but once the actual work for the Celestial Realm Project starts, I’ll probably be super busy, so I should get a head start.
I wake up in the morning to work on album art and go to the Vocal Academy in the afternoon.
Then in the evening…
[Today, it’s the same thing]
Of course, I turn on the broadcast.
– Please stop playing the guitar… Please stop playing the guitar… Please stop playing the guitar… Please stop playing the guitar…
– Is it the same thing today? Why…? Is it the same thing today? Why…? Is it the same thing today? Why…? Is it the same thing today? Why…?
– I’m sorry, Miro..! I’m sorry, Miro..! I’m sorry, Miro..!
– I’ll be a good Miro fan… I’ll be a good Miro fan… I’ll be a good Miro fan…
As soon as I start the broadcast today, the chat is flooded.
Well, although it seems like everyone thinks I’m just playing guitar all day, that’s not true.
Honestly, practicing guitar for hours straight is tough, so I only play for about thirty minutes to an hour before doing something else. The viewers know this, so they just flood the chat like that.
If I were actually just playing guitar, there would have already been riots.
“Actually, I’m not playing the guitar today. It’s just the title.”
– ??
– Then what are you doing?
– I brought my guitar, though;;
“Isn’t today when Mile unni’s cover song gets revealed? We have to have a listening party for that.”
– Aren’t you doing it?
– Interpretation) Trying to leech off other members’ content.
– It seems like a relay.
“Yes, it’s a relay. Today is the first day. Isn’t it exciting that it’s going to continue for five days?”
– Why five days?
– Information) There are six members in the Celestial Realm Project.
– It’s a relay, but one person is missing??
– Why are there only five members in the Celestial Realm Project?
“Me? I’m actually the first person to upload a cover video in the Celestial Realm Project, you know?”
Saying that, I opened my cover song video from The Six’s official YouTube channel.
“What? Why does it have so many views?”
I hadn’t checked in a while, and my cover song video had hit tens of thousands of views.
When I first uploaded it, it barely reached a few thousand views for weeks, and now seeing this is quite an experience.
– Wow ㅋㅋ Great Miro
– It’s the only song, after all;
– There are no other songs aside from that in the Celestial Realm.
– That’s a valid point ㅋㅋ
[Master Miro, thank you for the 10,000 won donation!]
So you’re paying me off for that?
“Thank you for the 10,000 won! Paying off? Why would you say that about us?”
– What’s our relationship, then?
– Only during times like this do we say ‘us’.
“What do you mean ‘our relationship’? Hmm…”
As I pondered what my relationship with the Miro fans could be, the answer came to me right away.
“Could it be business?”
– I’m disappointed for real;
– I’m heading to Osihen.
– This is a bit;;
“Well, we’re not friends or lovers, right? We’re partners who keep up our own responsibilities while working together. We’re building up Miro’s broadcast.”
– Didn’t you say that before?
– As partners, what do we gain from each other?
“What do we gain? Everyone enjoys watching the broadcast, right? Think of it like a zoo. Just see me as an animal. You come, observe, and feel satisfied and healed.”
– Wow ㅋㅋ
– Is this a healing broadcast?
– Animal Miro ㄷㄷ
“Healing broadcast for sure. At least you shouldn’t feel bad while watching my broadcast, right?”
If anyone is feeling stressed while watching my broadcast, it’s probably their own issue.
– Hmm… Is it really like that?
– Can I sue if I feel bad?
“Everyone is saying they’re not, though? Anyway, the release of the cover song isn’t far off, so let’s get ready.”
Saying that, I casually opened the main YouTube page to enter Mile’s channel.
– ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
– What is this recommended video? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
– Such a nerdy gay…
– Wow, you’re worse than me.
Suddenly, the videos recommended by the YouTube algorithm appeared on the broadcast screen.
They mainly featured short clips from homegrown VTubers, summaries of famous anime, guitar tutorials, and Japanese music videos showing up at the top of my algorithm.
Although it was accidentally exposed, I didn’t have anything to hide, so I owned up to it confidently.
“These are all things that help the broadcast, right?”
If there’s even one thing here that doesn’t help the broadcast, throw stones at me.
– What good does hearing songs do if you’re not singing?
– But this girl is watching summaries;; Are you going to watch the full anime after this?
“Ah, the summation video is just a rehash of something I’ve already watched. No misunderstanding, please.”
The summarization videos I watch are mainly those that female Kim Soo-hyun has seen.
I want to watch them but the full version is spoiled by all of female Kim Soo-hyun’s memories, so it feels a bit loose, hence I opt for the quicker summarization.
– But that’s a bit excessive ㅋㅋ
– Seriously nerdy;
– Do you only listen to Japanese songs?
“I listen to Korean songs too. Anyway, the cover song is really about to come out soon, so let’s hurry up and check it out.”
It’s scheduled for 9 o’clock, but as I chatted, it was already 50 minutes past.
Searching for Mile’s name on the YouTube search bar, her channel popped up immediately.
80 thousand subscribers.
For a channel that’s been up for less than six months, Mile’s channel was growing quickly, and the chatroom started buzzing.
– ???
– ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
– Why aren’t you subscribed?
– Looks like a premium subscription, so it’s your account.
– This girl for real ㅋㅋ
– This is really a controversy.
“Ah.”
Wait, did I forget to subscribe to the members’ channels?
Honestly, I never bothered to look for members’ videos on YouTube, so I didn’t pay attention to it.
Not subscribing to the same members could lead to rumors of discord, so it’s important to quell things like this quickly.
And I could probably brush this off without much issue.
“Everyone, just a moment. I’ll clear this up right away,”
I immediately searched for Miro and found her channel, which had slightly more than 90k subscribers.
Miro’s channel, which was about to reach 100k, was obviously managed by the company, so it was a different account from mine.
– ???
– What’s this?
– Wow ㅋㅋ
– This is acknowledged.
Then, as I showed Miro’s channel, I managed to cool off the brewing controversy.
Well…
“See? I just wasn’t paying attention. I’ll subscribe to all the channels right now.”
I hadn’t even subscribed to my own channel, let alone the other members’ channels.
I mean, I didn’t even subscribe to my own channel, so why wouldn’t I not subscribe to other members’ channels?
So, I began the process of subscribing to each of the other members’ channels one by one to quell the controversy swiftly and then returned to Mile’s channel.
Watching the time until the premiere, a ping notification came, followed by a donation message.
[Thank you for the 1,000 won donation, O_O!]
Miro, but why did you search for “Best Scenes from Demon Slayer”? Didn’t you say it’s not a masterpiece…?
“…Thank you for the 1,000 won.”
– ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Did you see the search history in the meantime?
– For real, I typed so fast I couldn’t see it.
– I’m going to go back and watch the recording ㅇㅇ.
While I had been inadvertently moving back and forth in the search bar to look for the other members’ channels, I thought I was typing fast enough that they wouldn’t catch my search history.
But it seems they caught sight of it.
Well, it’s not like I searched for anything problematic on YouTube…
[Thank you for the 5,000 won, Stationery Eraser Thief Miro!]
Miro, but why did you search for “Best Scenes from Jujutsu Kaisen”? Didn’t you say it’s not a masterpiece…?
[Thank you for the 1,000 won, O_O!]
Miro, but why aren’t you reading the donation messages? Are you embarrassed…?
“Okay, now there’s really not much time left. I wonder what song we covered. I honestly have no idea.”
– Miro, why are you dodging the question? Are the search results embarrassing…?
– Is this really what a young woman in her early twenties searches for? I genuinely don’t understand…
– So young and MZ!
– What’s with the donations??
[Thank you for the 1,000 won donation, O_O!]
Miro, why are you hiding your embarrassing search history? Are you embarrassed…?
“Uh-oh… let me get some water.”
– What are you taking? ㅋㅋ
– How long has it been since you took some?
– Interpretation) He’s avoiding me because I’m disgusting.
“I don’t have a shred of shame about my YouTube search history, so you all should remember that.”
I said this and stood up, pretending to get water, then on a whim, I grabbed a snack from the fridge.
“Okay, I’m back, Miro!”
– Miro, but why are you hiding the embarrassing stuff? Are you embarrassed…?
– Can an animal in a zoo just leave its spot like that?
“Who’s the animal? Me?”
– What am I then?
– Didn’t you say you were one of the animals in the zoo?
“Hey, I’m like a lion; I roam around freely, and just by being there, people gather.”
– Stop it ㅋㅋ
– You’re a monkey!
– So, you won’t put on a show for us?
“Have you ever seen a lion perform tricks at a zoo? If you want to see something like that, go to a circus.”
– Can’t you just do a circus show instead?
– Sigh, I’m heading to Osihen’s circus now.
“Enough already, let’s focus now that it’s starting.”
As I was interacting with the viewers, time flew by quickly, and Mile’s cover video premiere began.
Dum-dum-dum-dum!
It opened with a powerful drum sound ringing out against a black background.
Clack-
As the drum sound hit, a beam of light fell in the center of the background.
That small light revealed that we were, in fact, inside a dark tent.
Having only seen the introduction, I was quite surprised by the high quality.
Didn’t they just stick up an illustration and sing?
Now it makes sense why they were meticulously preparing…
While I was admiring the unexpectedly high quality, the drum continued, and suddenly, a girl descended from above the tent.
With yellow hair and heavy makeup, the character wearing a clown hat grabbed the corners of her mouth and smiled widely, signaling the start of the song.
[Here we go! Smile!]
And with a snap!
The lights came on completely, and the interior of the dark tent was revealed.
Decorated instruments and animals were scattered all around, and overhead, colorful strings and various props indicated this was a circus.
…A circus?
At that moment, the words I had just thrown around right before the premiere flashed across my mind, sending a chill down my spine.
However, contrary to my feelings, Mile in the music video was joyfully running around and singing.
I had no idea how they achieved this, but the quality of Mile’s cover video was top-notch to the extent that I was worried for the people behind her.
With continuous visuals, the song selection was so fitting it could be considered an original piece, not to mention the polished vocal skills on display.
The cover song, which entertained everyone for about four minutes, concluded with an exaggerated gesture for her final greeting, and I immediately raised my hands to prove my innocence.
“I really didn’t know.”
I had accidentally spoiled things right before.
…But I really didn’t know…
