Omniscience in Marvel

Chapter 143: Omniscience in Marvel 139

Title - Ego 1

...

Ego, the Living Planet was a Celestial being with a Consciousness that spanned the stars, found himself gripped by an unfamiliar sensation—fear.

The realization was downright terrifying.

Ego had encountered countless entities across the cosmos, many of them powerful, but none had ever made him feel this way. He was sure that had there been a clash, he would come out the Victor.

However, with each word Leucadius said, he felt as though a dark cloud had settled over his mind, casting shadows of doubt and apprehension in his perfectly barricaded subconsciousness.

Suddenly…

'This isn't right,' Ego thought, his consciousness struggling to comprehend the situation. 'I am a Celestial, a force of creation and destruction, a being whose existence predates the very stars. How could I, of all beings, be afraid?'

However, the more he thought this, the more the fear gnawed at his thoughts, distorting his perception of the being standing before him, Leucadius.

This was no ordinary God; that much was clear.

Leucadius gave off a power that seemed to challenge the very rules of the universe, his presence a force of overwhelming dominance. But even so, Ego knew something was wrong.

The fear he felt was unnatural, foreign, as if it had been planted in his mind like a seed, taking root and spreading its influence. He was familiar with that feeling. For years on end, he'd been doing this very same thing.

Still…

'Why am I afraid?' Ego's thoughts echoed through his consciousness, a question that begged for an answer. And in response to his question, his mind began to probe the fear, analyzing it from every angle.

He had faced beings of unimaginable power before, beings who could annihilate entire galaxies with a thought, and yet, none of them had ever induced this kind of reaction.

As his introspection deepened, Ego started to notice inconsistencies. The fear didn't feel organic; it wasn't a natural response to a genuine threat. Instead, it felt imposed, as if his very thoughts were being manipulated. The idea struck him like a bolt of lightning, jolting his mind into action.

'This fear… it's not mine,' Ego realized, his thoughts sharpening. 'It's a construct, an illusion designed to weaken me, to make me doubt my own power. But who could…'

His thoughts trailed off as he focused on Leucadius once more. The being before him was formidable, no doubt, but the fear… it was more than just a response to power.

It was as though Leucadius had reached into the core of Ego's mind and twisted his emotions, bending them to his will.

'Mind manipulation,' Ego thought, his awareness expanding as he dissected the feeling. 'He's trying to control me, to make me think I'm powerless against him.'

Ego's consciousness pushed back against the fear of Leucadius's illusion. His originally clouded mind began to clear as the realization dawned on him.

He had no reason to be afraid of Leucadius. The being before him, for all his power, was not invincible.

'He tried to deceive me,' Ego thought, the initial dread that had gripped him now dissipating and turning into fury. 'He tried to make me believe that I am weak, that I should fear him.'

As the last remnants of fear were cast aside, Ego felt a cool, refreshing sensation wash over him, as though his mind was being cleansed of the lingering influence. 'Why should I fear him?' Ego pondered, his thoughts now crystal clear. 'I am a Celestial.'

Ego's thoughts solidified, his mind now fully aware of the illusion that had sought to bind him. The fear he once felt was gone, replaced by a renewed sense of self-assurance and calm.

He had broken free of Leucadius's influence, and he now stared at him with a renewed sense of clarity, something he had momentarily lost.

Leucadius was still a formidable opponent, a force that demanded respect, but he no longer appeared as the insurmountable threat Ego had perceived him to be.

Ego focused on Leucadius, who stood there with an expression of detached calm, seemingly unperturbed by the turn of events. The Celestial's gaze bore into him, searching for any sign of weakness, but Leucadius remained as inscrutable as ever.

At that moment, Leucadius clicked his teeth in subtle annoyance, a gesture that might have gone unnoticed to anyone, to Ego, however, it was a sign that his opponent was aware of the failure of his illusion.

The realization brought a small measure of satisfaction to Ego, a reminder that even a being as powerful as Leucadius could not bend him to his will so easily.

Leucadius observed Ego with narrowed eyes, already analyzing the situation. His eyes swept over Ego, assessing him anew as he sensed the shift in the Celestial's demeanor.

'So, he's broken free,' Leucadius mused, a hint of frustration creeping into his thoughts. 'I underestimated the strength of his mind. Manipulating beings of pure energy proves to be more difficult than I anticipated, even with my mastery over Word and Mind Magic when paired my Ocular ability.'

Leucadius's eyes flickered with a hint of annoyance as he adjusted his strategy while noting that fact with a realization that he would need to rely on more than just mental manipulation to subdue Ego.

A minor setback, but one he was prepared to overcome.

'No matter,' Leucadius thought, his composure quickly returning. 'If I cannot control his mind, I will overpower him in other ways. The fight has only just begun.'

The tension between the two beings reached its peak as the pocket dimension rumbled with energy as Ego's form shifted, his body expanding to twice that of Leucadius.

To him, wasting any more time in this confrontation would only lead to his possible defeat, and considering Leucadius's reliance on mental manipulation, there was a strong chance he was weak physically.

Leucadius observed this undeterred, preparing himself for the coming clash, his own energy flaring in response. He had no idea what Ego was thinking, but when it came to close combat, there was no way he'd shy away.

With a sudden burst of speed, Ego lunged forward with his massive form rushing towards Leucadius like a tidal wave. Leucadius' eyes narrowed as he gathered his energy.

The pocket dimension shook under the sheer weight of the two titanic beings' confrontation but still managed to hold still. As long as Leucadius continued providing Energy, this reality he had conjured would remain.

This was the perfect stage to reason with beings such as Ego. This Reality was expansive enough to handle a being with energy twice his, and considering his pseudo-limitless energy levels, it was an indestructible reality…at least, from within.

This however, came with a flaw. For as long as he retained this dimension, he'd be unable to use Reality and Space Manipulation Magic.

This wasn't much for concern though. There was still Power, Time, and Soul. Mind Magic had already proven to be obsolete so it wasn't a factor in this battle…at the moment.

As Ego's massive form lunged toward Leucadius, Leucadius remained poised as he calculated the precise moment to act. He knew that meeting Ego's charge head-on would be foolish; instead, he sought to exploit the momentum of Ego's assault to his advantage.

There was no need to satisfy the Celestial by showing all his cards.

With that thought in mind, Leucadius was prepared to battle him with his Godly Physique.

At the last possible second, Leucadius shifted his stance, his form blurring as he sidestepped the colossal blow, causing Ego's massive fist to graze the edge of his form, missing by mere inches, but the force of the attack tore through the dimension, ripping through space with a crackling rumble.

Leucadius narrowed his eyes at that scene but didn't take it to heart as the rupture immediately healed up in less than a second of its creation.

Ego's momentum carried him forward, his massive frame careening past Leucadius, who, with a graceful twist, turned to the Celestial and released a focused burst Energy aimed directly at Ego's exposed side.

'[Power Canon]'

Leucadius gave a mental command as he unleashed a concentrated beam of energy, a thin line of light that sliced through the air with pinpoint precision and struck Ego's side, not with the intention of wounding, but to destabilize him and push him forward uncontrollably.

Ego grunted but quickly readjusted his position as he brought himself to a halt with Telekinesis. Upon coming to a halt, his eyes narrowed as he refocused on Leucadius.

"Impressive," Ego rumbled, his voice loud enough that Leucadius heard him despite their distance. The copy of the house Leucadius had created while creating the dimension already destroyed to bits from the clash of their aura. "But I am not so easily defeated."

Leucadius didn't respond with words; instead, he vanished from his position, reappearing above Ego in a flash. His hands moved in a blur, forming magic symbols in the air.

"[Celestial Binding]"

As the words left his mouth, golden chains of energy materialized around Ego, encircling his limbs and constricting his movement forcing Ego to snarl in defiance as he tried to break free only to feel the chains tighten, the energy in it seeping into his form, seeking to bind him in place.

"I have fought with a Celestial so many levels more powerful than yourself." Leucadius began as he looked down on the struggling Ego from the sky. "A thousand years. That's how long it's been since then. My first worthy defeat."

"You Cretin!" Ego roared in rage as energy surged out of him and fought against the chains. His form surged with a might that shook the dimension greatly, causing even space to bend around him as he strained against Leucadius's binding spell.

"It seems even a thousand years isn't enough to come up with something strong enough." Leucadius muttered to himself as he watched with a measured gaze.

It seemed that the chains wouldn't be able to hold Ego for long. Still they had worked out well as a distraction, a means to buy him a moment of advantage.

As Ego finally shattered the chains with a burst of raw power, Leucadius was already in motion. He descended toward Ego, his body surrounded by a vortex of energy as he went in for a strike.

Ego's eyes, still blazing with fury as he saw Leucadius approach. He gathered his energy, condensing it into a single point in his massive hand, ready to unleash a devastating counterattack.

But just as the two were about to collide, Leucadius shifted his trajectory at the last second, his body blurring as he shifted through the space between them causing Ego's attack to miss its mark, creating an opening Leucadius capitalized on by delivering a series of rapid energy infused punches to Ego's massive frame.

Each strike was precise, targeting specific points in Ego's form, disrupting the flow of his energy and throwing him off balance.

The scene was one so out of the ordinary that you'd only see in an anime clash.

With each punch, Leucadius disrupted Ego's attempt to gather energy to defend or counter. This caused Ego to snarl in frustration as his massive form was thrashed around under the barrage of Leucadius punches while he tried to catch him.

However, the smaller being was too fast and elusive.

Leucadius continued his assault, his movements a blur as he danced around Ego's massive form.

Time and Space. Two Cheat Level concepts that when used properly would ensure one remains invincible in any battle.

Acceleration. Deceleration and Intangibility.

Three powerful techniques that ensured Invincibility.

Without even trying to Match Ego in physical might with Power Magic that uses Strength and Energy Amplification, Leucadius was sure he could win.

Ego however, was far from defeated. In his frustration he unleashed a shockwave of energy that blasted outward, forcing Leucadius to retreat.

Despite the ferocity of the attack, Leucadius still came out unharmed. In his accelerated state, he had noticed the energy building up and created a barrier that blocked off the blast.

As Leucadius skidded back, his feet barely touched the ground as he regained his balance. He could feel the strain of the battle beginning to take its toll, but he refused to show any sign of weakness.

Maintaining the Dimension was already hard enough considering the level of damage they were both causing to it. The energy it took to repair after each clash wasn't minor and was rapidly draining his reserves.

He had an option of tapping into Heaven main Reactor, but such an endeavor would see to it that he returned to Heaven as soon as possible, an outcome he wasn't too keen on.

'I have to finish this fast.' He thought, and with his mind made up, his eyes locked onto Ego who was already preparing for another assault as his form was bathed in golden celestial energy.

'He's adapting,' Leucadius noted, his mind racing as he calculated his next move. 'But so am I.'
