One Piece: Legendary Family

Chapter 49: Diving Without Burden

Chapter 49: Diving Without Burden

The Hiberfield ship wandered the sea, and to avoid attracting attention, it didn't even carry a flag. This way, it vanished from the sight of anyone who might be interested.

On the deck, Beta and Barrett were arm wrestling, neither willing to give up, both with a strong desire to win.

Gillian, like a reclusive scholar, was in the medical room researching her medicines, occasionally letting out a nervous laugh that sent shivers down the others' spines.

Mitia practiced her dance gracefully, developing her devil fruit abilities, which drew cheers from the others.

Charlotte couldn't believe how carefree everyone seemed. This was the New World sea; they shouldn't be so relaxed!

Fortunately, Lina remained as meticulous as always, smoothly organizing the surveillance tasks.

On the spacious deck, under a large umbrella, Charlotte lay comfortably on a beach chair, sipping iced watermelon juice.

The noisiest area was where Beta and Barrett were competing, their cheers ringing in his ears.

It was really worrying!

Next to Charlotte sat Mitis, quietly reading a book.

Charlotte lowered his sunglasses a bit and looked at Mitis. Yes, it had to be Mitis, reading without being affected by the noise.

He, on the other hand, couldn't do it.

A glance revealed that he was reading a well-known North Blue storybook, "The Adventures of Noland."

Mitis looked up and saw Charlotte watching him, feeling a bit nervous.

After all, he was a pirate now; how could he still be reading fairy tales?

"Captain Charlotte, I..."

Charlotte smiled slightly, not caring. Everyone has their own tastes, it's normal.

He himself liked smoking. Besides, the story about the "golden city" in "The Adventures of Noland" turned out to be true, so Noland didn't die unjustly after all.

"It's okay, reading is a good way to improve."

Charlotte said indifferently. He wasn't lying.

In the world of One Piece, many stories considered myths turned out to be true. For example, "The Adventures of Noland" was also true.

You never know, maybe a great treasure could be found by following clues in these stories.

Mitis felt a bit embarrassed, as he was just reading a fairy tale, but still asked.

"Captain Charlotte, do you think the golden city really exists?"

Charlotte nodded without hesitation. He knew it really existed.

This surprised Mitis a bit. How could Charlotte believe in such a fantastic story that had circulated for four hundred years?

Seeing Mitis's expression, Charlotte continued speaking in a deep tone.

"Historical truth is buried under ruins, time erases great accounts. If you haven't checked it, how can you prove it's false?"

Charlotte's words left a strong impression on Mitis. No wonder, Charlotte always had such meaningful and rational words, which moved him deeply.

Charlotte paused and continued.

"In my homeland, there's a saying…"

"The truth of history is written by the victors."

Mitis was blank for a moment. "What great wisdom, your homeland must be a wonderful place."

Charlotte smiled without saying anything.

Mitis, as if suddenly finding courage, asked.

"Captain Charlotte, what should a dream be like?"

Charlotte slightly turned his head. A dream? He wanted to live in peace, that was his ultimate dream.

So he replied, "Dreams don't have to be grand. Some people want wealth, others want to live in peace, some want to be the best artist in the world, others the best swordsman."

"So dreams don't have to be great, but a hope and a pursuit of something beautiful. No dream should be ridiculed."

"Whoever pursues their dreams is a true brave person!"

Mitis lowered his head, feeling his lifelong belief become firmer with each word from Charlotte.

"What's your dream?" Charlotte looked at Mitis curiously.

"I want to..."

Mitis hesitated for a moment, and then, remembering Charlotte's words, he gathered courage and said determinedly.

"I want to write a book called 'The Travels of Mitis,' documenting all the sea's mysteries, secret stories, islands, plants and animals, autobiographies, and cultural customs, all in the form of travel stories."

As soon as he finished speaking, Mitis felt a bit embarrassed.

Listening to Mitis, Charlotte looked at him in surprise. He didn't expect Mitis to have such a dream, but he had to admit that such a work could endure in history.

Then, his name would also be remembered by everyone.

Charlotte said with admiration, "It's a great dream."

Mitis's eyes shone as he looked at Charlotte.

"Your dream is really grand, Mitis. It will surely be a magnificent work."

"Really?"

Mitis asked excitedly, his eyes almost shining like stars.

"Of course, have confidence in yourself."

With that, Charlotte continued drinking his watermelon juice. He really thought it would be an incredible book.

Mitis looked at Charlotte with deep admiration. For him, Charlotte was great, wise, merciful, and philosophical.

Not wanting to interrupt more, Mitis immersed himself in his enthusiasm, excited about his dream.

Charlotte, with some expectation, turned his head and saw Mitis's excited expression.

Wow!

Isn't this a bit too much enthusiasm?

Boom!

Suddenly, the sound of a cannon was heard.

"Pirates are attacking us! Pirates are attacking us!" a lookout shouted from the tower.

Charlotte rolled his eyes, thinking about the slow response, almost as if it was too late.

"Respond, respond!"

Beta shouted, calling the crew to counterattack.

Lina quickly approached, "Captain Charlotte, it's the Knights pirate group."

Charlotte remained unperturbed, never having heard of that group. Anyway, in the past month, they had sunk eight pirate groups and gained quite a bit of extra profit.

Unseen, unknown, with not very strong enemies, and extra income, why not?

Of course, those pirates who open fire without warning can't be good people.

Pirates with a spirit of justice and adventure don't shoot without provocation, so these are clearly evil pirates.

No burden in sinking them.

Beta could take care of them.

While Charlotte thought, a shadow appeared over his head.

Looking up, he saw it was an enemy projectile.

"Flying Tempest!"

Charlotte struck with his right foot, turning into a shadow that raised the wind, launching a sharp cut like a wind bird into the sky.

Boom!

With an explosion, the projectile exploded, and the shockwave made Charlotte's hair flutter.
