Vergo's actions eased most of King's suspicions. Noticing King didn't seem ready to attack anymore, Vergo quietly let out a sigh of relief.

"I'll take you to the prison now to find Caesar, Lord King," Vergo said cautiously. King gave a slight nod in agreement.

However, before they could take a step, three figures suddenly rushed into the area: two Marine soldiers and a middle-aged man in purple with blind eyes. Both King and Vergo were startled.

Vergo's thoughts raced. If the soldiers discovered his connection to King, it would spell disaster for him.

Meanwhile, King's naturally cautious nature made him immediately suspicious—were these three here under Vergo's orders to ambush him?

Noticing King's dangerous gaze, Vergo hurried to prove his loyalty. In a hushed tone, he suggested, "To prevent any leaks, why don't we kill all three of them together?"

King nodded in agreement, but his vigilance toward Vergo didn't waver.

The two soldiers, upon entering, were shocked by the scene before them—Vergo standing opposite King, his body injured.

The sight of Vergo's wounds, so deep they were nearly fatal, sent a chill down their spines. Just a bit deeper, and Vergo would've been dead.

Their fear of King grew as they turned to him with terror-filled eyes.

"Mr. Issho," one soldier stammered, "are you sure you can handle King? I don't feel confident about this..."

"If not for Mr. Issho insisting on coming, we'd have already run for our lives," whispered the other soldier.

Issho, however, simply smiled. "This old man cannot guarantee anything. I can only promise to do my best."

Hearing this, the two soldiers were on the verge of tears. You're not sure, and you still insisted on coming? Do you even value your life?

King whispered to Vergo, "You attack first."

Without speaking, Vergo slightly stepped forward, his movement signalling his compliance.

The soldiers, worried about Issho's blindness, quickly warned him. "Mr. Issho, the one on the right is the enemy! Please don't hit the wrong person!"

Issho frowned slightly, but in his mind, he felt differently. The right side? Why do I sense that both sides are enemies?

The killing intent from the left feels even stronger. He kept these thoughts to himself, however, and decided to trust the soldiers' judgment for now.

Issho unsheathed the blade concealed within his walking stick. "Gravity Blade: Tiger Pressure!"

With a swing of his blade, a swirling purple aura emanated from it, forming a massive spectral tiger in midair.

The tiger roared ferociously, baring its fangs as it charged toward King.

King quickly drew the sword at his waist, unleashing a fiery slash that collided with the spectral tiger.

The fiery strike momentarily held the tiger back, but the aura soon dissipated into countless streams of purple energy, which enveloped King entirely.

Realizing the danger, King tried to counter, but before he could act, Issho drove his blade into the ground and shouted, "Press!"

In an instant, King felt an unimaginable weight crush down on him, as if he were bearing the weight of countless mountains.

His bones groaned under the pressure, and his body was forced into the ground.

"Boom!"

The impact created a massive crater over ten meters deep, with spiderweb-like cracks radiating outward from the centre.

Everyone present was stunned by Issho's overwhelming power.

King, the top commander of the Beasts Pirates and one of their All-Stars, had been subdued in a single move by this seemingly ordinary blind man.

"Who is this man...?" one of the soldiers stammered, his voice trembling.

"I...Issho, sir, this..."

Issho replied calmly, "It seems this old man did not waste the opportunity you two gave me by risking your lives to stay."

Standing nearby, Vergo couldn't hide the flash of fear in his eyes as he looked at Issho.

He couldn't help but think to himself how lucky he was not to have attacked earlier. Otherwise, he'd likely be the one crushed into the ground right now.

Though Vergo had narrowly escaped with his life, the situation had spiralled far beyond his control.

More importantly, the presence of this mysterious and powerful man raised a critical question—who exactly was he?

Drawing upon years of experience as an undercover operative, Vergo quickly composed himself and put on a grateful expression.

"I'm Vergo, Vice Admiral of the G-5 Base. Thank you, sir, for stepping in. Without your help, I would've surely fallen to that pirate."

Approaching Issho, Vergo bowed respectfully. However, Issho remained cold and unresponsive.

His silence stemmed from what he had sensed earlier—the killing intent of this so-called Marine Vice Admiral toward their group was even greater than King's.

After all, Issho's blindness wasn't the result of injury or accident...

Issho's blindness was not due to injury or accident but rather a deliberate choice. He believed, "Not seeing is a blessing in itself."

"There are far too many vile individuals in this world, unworthy of being looked upon."

By choosing to close his eyes to such filth, Issho had honed his Observation Haki to extraordinary levels, granting him abilities beyond comprehension, such as distinguishing between goodwill and malice.

Thus, Issho was certain that the man before him, Vice Admiral Vergo, was far from the heroic figure the soldiers had described.

The claim that Vergo had risked his life to buy time for others to escape seemed more dubious with every passing moment.

There were likely secrets the soldiers were unaware of. The soldiers accompanying Issho, however, were oblivious to these subtleties.

Seeing Issho remain silent, one of them explained, "Vice Admiral Vergo, Mr. Issho just arrived at G-5 Base today, seeking Vice Admiral Byakuya."

"We didn't expect pirates to attack at the same time—what a coincidence!"

What a coincidence indeed, Vergo thought bitterly, almost grinding his teeth in anger.

The sheer absurdity of Issho appearing at such a critical moment made it hard for him to maintain his composure.

Now, hearing that this incredibly powerful man had come looking for Byakuya only added fuel to his rage.

Vergo clenched his fists tightly, his frustration nearly driving him to the brink.

Byakuya! Again with Byakuya!

The only solace Vergo could take was the assumption that Byakuya was most likely already dead at the hands of the Beasts Pirates.

Unbeknownst to Vergo, Issho had been observing him intently with his Observation Haki the entire time.

When Vergo heard Byakuya's name and exuded intense malice, Issho became even more convinced of his earlier judgment—this Vice Admiral was no ally of justice.

Despite this realization, Issho refrained from acting against Vergo. After all, as far as the Marines were concerned, Issho was just a civilian.

Attacking a Marine Vice Admiral without cause would make him a fugitive faster than he could explain himself.

Issho decided to hold his judgment until meeting Byakuya in person. He would relay his findings to Byakuya and observe his response.

If Byakuya blindly trusted Vergo, it would reveal a lack of discernment, and Issho's visit would end there, with no reason to continue further interaction.

However, if Byakuya took Issho's warning seriously and launched an investigation into Vergo, confirming his suspicions, Issho would see Byakuya as someone open to advice and reason.

Such a trait would bode well for future collaboration between them.
