Arthur remained on Rusukaina Island but paused his training.
After flattening the third rocky mountain, about three weeks were left before Arthur's March deadline. During this time, Arthur focused on helping Nojiko with her training for a few days.
On Rusukaina Island, the commanders and vice-commanders of the Ten Legions had already left. They began their training here last September, using the island's beasts to push themselves. Nearly a full year had passed since then.
Those who rose to the ranks of commander and vice-commander of the Ten Legions were already highly talented fighters.
While their potential wasn't at the highest level, the evolutionary effects of the IQ grass allowed them to grow. Originally, they had the abilities of ordinary vice admirals or elite rear admirals.
However, through this training and the IQ grass, their potential expanded, making each of them strong enough to reach the level of elite vice admirals.
After a year of training, the commanders and vice-commanders attained elite vice admiral strength. Still, compared to Marine elites like Flying Squirrel, Burning Mountain, and Ghost Spider, they lagged slightly.
Even so, in battles against other elite vice admirals, they were evenly matched. There wasn't a big gap in strength, meaning Marine elites would not have much of an upper hand.
Now, the Ten Legions boast a total of thirty elite vice admirals, a significant increase in power! Furthermore, fighters like Urouge, Enel, Wyper, Yama, and Raki possess strength at or near the level of an Admiral.
With no further need to continue training on the island, the commanders returned to Skypiea, which allowed Urouge some relief. Training on Skypiea was challenging because even one mistake could lead to disaster.
The trio aiming to fully reach Admiral-level strength were sent to Ruskaina Island by Arthur's orders. After six months of training, Arthur wanted to test himself.
But fighting in the New World wasn't an option since top-tier fighters like the Four Emperors or Marine Admirals rarely appeared without reason.
Arthur's situation was unique, often finding himself in major battles.
This time, Arthur planned to help Urouge and Enel reach Admiral level and bring Wyper closer to it. Additionally, he intended to test his own physical abilities, fighting skills, and mastery of Haki to identify any weaknesses.
Even after intense training, Arthur's physical strength was top-tier but still fell short of Kaido's resilience, Whitebeard's immense power, and Big Mom's formidable defense. According to Arthur's assessment, without using his Thunder Fruit powers, he was roughly at the level of a declining Admiral like Z. However, matching Z in his prime was out of reach.
In the original story, Z wasn't shown much, but he held his ground against Kizaru despite being over seventy and requiring medicine to keep fighting. This proved that Z, at his peak, was a monstrous powerhouse.
Comparing himself to a slightly weakened Z without using his Devil Fruit powers demonstrated Arthur's formidable physical strength.
"Hasshoken can be based on Bajiquan: Beng!"
A loud explosion shattered the air, resembling a small mushroom cloud. Enel unleashed powerful punches with every move. His physical power combined with explosive fruit abilities made each strike comparable to an Admiral-level attack. For Enel, unleashing such strength wasn't difficult.
"Armed! Baji Break!" Arthur countered, barely moving but releasing a wave of energy. A transparent, blue-violet shockwave formed, blocking Enel's attack.
"Ha!" Just after blocking Enel, Urouge attacked with a massive weapon, swinging it at Arthur. Despite being hit by Arthur before, Urouge emerged stronger and more powerful.
"Finger Pistol: Overlord Cannon!"
Arthur, who developed variations of the Six Powers techniques, launched a focused attack. A beam of light, the thickness of a fist and wrapped in Sakura-colored Armament Haki, shot forth. This move was more concentrated than Armed Baji Break, delivering immense power in a narrow strike.
Boom!
Urouge's weapon stopped mid-swing, unable to break through.
Even so, with his deep mastery of Armament Haki, Urouge was unharmed. Instead, his body size increased slightly due to the impact.
"Tempest Kick: Mountain Splitter!" After blocking both attackers, Arthur immediately launched his counterattack.
Arthur unleashed two massive blue-purple slashes with a kick. This technique, called "Mountain Splitter," was so powerful it could split a mountain in half.
"Tempest Kick: Burst!" Enel countered with his own version of the Tempest Kick, producing a fiery red slash. When it met Arthur's, Enel's attack exploded on impact but was ultimately split in two by Arthur's slash.
"Storm Cutter!" Urouge, wielding his weapon, unleashed a cyan blade of wind mixed with a hurricane. It collided with Arthur's slash, causing both attacks to vanish in the air.
"Armed: Hundred and Eight Shots!"
**BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!**
Countless explosions erupted in quick succession. Enel's continuous blasts put Arthur on the defensive for a while, even making him look a bit rattled. Meanwhile, Urouge remained out of reach of the explosion's center.
The move's power was impressive! However, Enel still couldn't release so many blasts in quick succession at different locations. Even with Armament Haki protection, using this technique placed a heavy burden on the area it targeted.
While the explosive fruit wasn't a perfect fit for Enel, his talent and Arthur's guidance helped develop its potential greatly.
High above Rusukaina Island, the three clashed continuously for over a week.
Thankfully, all three had Admiral-level stamina, so they didn't tire quickly. Without using his Devil Fruit powers, Arthur's physical attacks and mastery of Haki gave him a notable endurance advantage.
After half a month of fighting, Arthur floated in the air to rest, pale but reflecting on their battle.
Now, both Urouge and Enel had become full Admiral-level powerhouses. Even without using his Thunder Fruit powers, Arthur's ability to endure such an intense battle for so long showed his strength.
The battle with the two taught Arthur many valuable lessons. The half-month break was ending, and it was time for him to return to his mountain-breaking training.
On Ruskaina Island, Urouge and Enel also took time to rest and reflect on their experience. Fighting against a top-level opponent was a first for them, and they learned even more than Arthur.
Now that Urouge and Enel had reached Admiral-level strength, Raki, Yama, and Wyper had become proper quasi-Admirals. Within a year or two, they could potentially reach full Admiral-level power.
Due to the unique nature of the Laser Fruit, Raki, even as a new Admiral, would likely be the trickiest to handle. Yama might become a strong mid-tier Admiral, provided he pushes the Ice Fruit's abilities to their peak, or even Awakening level. Otherwise, he would only just make it to Admiral status.
As for Wyper, his Electric Fruit wasn't quite on the level of the Thunder Fruit, but it was still impressive. So far, he had mastered over 100 million volts, with a potential maximum of nearly 200 million volts due to his own evolution of electricity.
"I wonder how Jessica is doing now? Has she reached quasi-Admiral level, or is she close to becoming a full Admiral?" Arthur thought to himself, thinking of Jessica, who was far away in the New World.
**BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!**
Explosions once again echoed across Ruskaina Island.
It was now September 1521 of the Sea Calendar. In just three more months, the original story's events would begin in 1522.
Having been in this world for so long, Arthur realized that many things had already changed. How drastically the story would shift was unknown. One thing was certain: his training couldn't stop.
The beginning of the original story marked the onset of worldwide chaos.
