Chapter 13 : Kuina’s desperation

With a snap.

The bamboo sword in Kuina's hand fell to the ground.

She stared blankly at the black-haired boy sitting in the snow, topless with slightly bulging muscles but with extremely sharp lines.

Kuina at the moment seems to understand why he looks smaller than herself but his strength is so strong.

Blaze looked at Kuina with a puzzled face.

"Are you looking me for something?"

Kuina regained her senses, remembered and immediately bent over to pick up two bamboo swords and said to Blaze with firm eyes:

"I'm here to challenge you."

Blaze scratched his head.

"Didn't we fight yesterday?"

"That was too careless of me. Today, I have to show you my real strength ."

"Oh, okay."

...

After a while.

The bamboo sword in Kuina's hand was beaten away.

She looked at her trembling hand, gritted her teeth fiercely and stared at Blaze:

"Tomorrow, I will come tomorrow!"

"Anytime."

Blaze smiled at her carrying the bamboo sword.

Kuina gave him a hard look and turned around to leave.

And she just walked out a few steps.

Blaze's voice rang in her ears:

"Your speed is good, but you don't have enough strength. You can't beat me in this way."

Kuina stopped immediately, clenched her fists slightly and bit her lower lip.

The lack of strength is her pain. She hates herself for being a girl countless times because the strength of women is inherently weaker than that of men.

And this difference becomes more obvious in the future!

That's why her father Koushirou would say bluntly that as a woman, she would never be the strongest swordsman in the world...

"I know too! I also know that lack of strength is my weakness!"

Kuina lowered her head and shouted with her back to Blaze.

"But what can I do?! No matter how I practice, the increase in strength is not as good as your boys!"

"If I can, I want to be a boy too!"

Her voice was full of unwillingness.

Blaze was stunned when he heard the words and then reacted.

"You seem to have made a mistake of what I meant. I'm not trying to laugh at you. I mean to say, do you want me to teach you how to increase your strength?"

Kuina trembled

"How to...how to increase strength?"

She turned to look at Blaze.

"Really... Can I improve my strength?"

Blaze nodded.

"Probably."

A little before the sun rising.

In the forest behind the gymnasium.

Blaze handed Kuina a grilled fish.

"Eat it."

"Can you gain strength after eating?"

Kuina was puzzled.

"It's a prerequisite."

Kuina immediately ate the whole grilled fish clean and the taste was unexpectedly good.

"Are you full?"

Blaze looked at her.

Kuina nodded.

Blaze nodded and then started to point her.

"Then close your eyes and do everything as I say."

Kuina listened to him and closed her eyes.

"From now on, you have to change your breathing rhythm as I say."

Blaze's voice rang in her ears.

"Huh, let out all the air in your lungs in one breath..."

Blaze now taught Kuina the breathing method, it is the minimalist version of Sun Breathing.

He accidentally discovered that using the breathing method after eating can absorb the energy of the food extremely quickly. Although it cannot directly increase the vitality value, it helps to increase the strength very significantly.

"How about it?"

When Kuina heard Blaze's words, she slowly opened her eyes, her previous feeling of fullness disappeared and was replaced by a sense of hunger.

Squeezed her fists.

It seems... the strength has indeed increased a bit.

A surprise flashed in her eyes.

But in order to prevent it from being an illusion, she still stood up suddenly then ran in one direction and dropped a sentence.

"I'll test it!"

"Hey."

Blaze looked at the figure running away, shook his head and smiled helplessly.

After a while.

Kuina walked back, lost.

"It seems to be an illusion, I still can't hold that  dumbbell with one hand..."

Blaze spoke while waving a bamboo sword:

"How can you increase your strength so quickly? You can try again after ten days."

The next few days.

It seemed to be stimulated by Blaze.

When Blaze got up at four o'clock and reached the clearing, Kuina was already waiting there with a bamboo sword.

The two competed first.

Then both started doing exercises without disturbing each other.

When the sun rose, they went to the gym to have breakfast and then learned swordsmanship with Koushirou.

Swordsmanship includes steps art, body skills, holding a sword, drawing, slashing and so on.

afternoon.

Blaze and Koushirou are holding real swords in actual combat.

Kuina sat and watched. The more she watched, the more stress she got. She often went out to practice on her own before watching it for a while.

...

The gym in winter looks quite deserted.

Those children who came to learn swordsmanship stayed at home because of the cold and did not want to come to the gym.

Occasionally only some acquaintances from the village would come to the gym. On weekdays,Koushirou and Kuina were the only people. This year, there is one more Blaze.

There won't be much noise here until the beginning of spring.
