One Punch Man: The Judge

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Mission

After buying all the daily necessities with Saitama's help, Haruto was finally able to relax comfortably. So much had happened today that it felt incredibly long.

With nothing else to do, Haruto brought out the Apprentice Judge handbook that the system had provided earlier.

The handbook was actually an electronic document directly displayed on his retina, complete with dynamic instructions.

In short, the system was called 'Judge', and its main function was to cultivate qualified judges. To achieve this, the system would continuously issue various tasks for Haruto to complete. Of course, this was not without rewards... Completing tasks would earn Judgment Points, which could be used to purchase various weapons, equipment, and items in the system shop.

As the name suggests, a Judge is essentially a person who upholds justice. The system gathers information on those who need to be judged and issues tasks accordingly.

There were two main types of tasks: Mandatory and Non-Mandatory. The Mandatory ones were those that had to be completed. Haruto currently had one Mandatory task, to be promoted from 'Apprentice Judge' to 'Official Judge' within six months.

The task also provided the promotion requirement: earning 1000 Judgment Points.

Haruto had estimated that the Cockroach King he encountered earlier in the day awarded 100 judgment points, which meant he needed to eliminate ten monsters of the same level threat.

"That's just great," Haruto remarked about the task.

Haruto had decent skills, having trained in martial arts with his grandfather since childhood, and could handle four or five strong men with ease. However, even five of him would be no match for the Cockroach King.

The system's evaluation made this clear—the Cockroach King was rated B-, while Haruto himself was rated C-...

Naturally, he couldn't let this discourage him. If he could not defeat those like the Cockroach King, then there were still weaker monsters. If necessary, he could fight those around his level or weaker. It might be slower, but it was safer.

Today's biggest gain, aside from the system, was meeting Saitama, a future superpower. Although Saitama was currently weaker than him, once Saitama's head became completely bald, he would be the strongest hero in the world.

Thinking of this, Haruto, a martial artist, couldn't help but get excited. No martial artist wouldn't want to be the strongest in the world.

"I believe that three years from now, I won't be any weaker than Saitama!"

Lying in bed, Haruto stared at the ceiling, determinedly thinking to himself. However, he soon began to worry again about how to earn Judgment Points.

The urgency came from the fact that the system's task not only had a time limit, but also a penalty for failure... direct obliteration.

With his life on the line, Haruto had no choice but to take it seriously.

He casually closed the Apprentice Judge handbook and opened the system's task panel.

The task panel was divided into two sections: Mandatory tasks and Regular tasks. The Mandatory task panel currently had only one task, highlighted in bold red text—the promotion task that was causing Haruto so much distress.

In contrast, the Regular task panel had seven pending tasks. These tasks were labeled according to their difficulty.

Haruto counted one A-level task, four B-level tasks, and two C-level tasks.

"Not much of a choice, just two C-level tasks."

After a quick glance, Haruto selected one of the C-level tasks, read the task description, and clicked the [Accept] option.

"It's you then!"
