Chapter 34 - True Inheritance, Nine Pages of the Sword Manual!
Chapter 34: True Inheritance, Nine Pages of the Sword Manual!
Gu Liuyun and Murong Qianxue couldn’t believe what the Supreme Elder said. Such a potent inheritance wasn’t a genuine sword cultivation heritage?
They exchanged glances and said, “Please explain further, Supreme Elder.”
The Supreme Elder stood with his hands behind his back and began, “You might have heard that the lineage of sword cultivation was established by the third-generation suzerain of the Taoist Palace.”
Gu Liuyun nodded, saying, “Yes, Master Tianluan informed us of that. Is that not accurate?”
The Supreme Elder gently shook his head and continued, “She’s correct, but do you know how the third-generation suzerain created this path of sword cultivation?”
Gu Liuyun and Murong Qianxue exchanged puzzled looks, both shaking their heads in ignorance.
The Supreme Elder turned towards Gu Liuyun and said, “In truth, I wasn’t eager to share this, but seeing your remarkable talent today, I believe you might have a chance to fulfill the third suzerain’s final wish.”
Gu Liuyun was surprised and pointed at himself, “Me? A final wish?”
The Supreme Elder nodded and began to narrate the story.
“Years ago, the third-generation suzerain displayed exceptional talent, entering the later stages of cultivation in less than a hundred years, just one step away from becoming an immortal.”
“By a fortuitous opportunity, he stumbled upon a single page of scriptures in a desolate place.”
“He created the path of sword cultivation based on that single page of scripture.”
Listening to the Supreme Elder’s words, Gu Liuyun and Murong Qianxue were astonished that such a formidable path of sword cultivation was created from just one page of scripture.
“Then, what does this have to do with the third suzerain’s final wish?” Gu Liuyun inquired.
The Supreme Elder sighed, “Ah, that’s what happened next.”
“After establishing the path of sword cultivation, the third-generation suzerain was not content with it. The single page of scripture came from a larger tome known as the ‘Sword Manual.’ It was the treasured inheritance of an ancient immortal sect that had long perished, and the ‘Sword Manual’ was lost and scattered when the sect fell.”
The two of them were fully engrossed in the story by now, and Murong Qianxue couldn’t help but ask, “What happened next?”
“Later on, the third-generation suzerain pursued not only the remaining eight pages of the sword scripture but also sought to uncover the reason behind the fall of the ancient immortal sect.”
“After a considerable amount of time, his determination bore fruit. He finally discovered that the second page of the sword scripture was in an ancient secret realm in the demon world. So, he set off for the demon world on his own.”
“However, at that time, the demon world and our human race were at odds, and the third suzerain’s whereabouts were exposed.”
“Just as the third-generation suzerain had acquired the second page of the sword scripture, he was ambushed by a demon “Two fists are no match for four hands,” the Supreme Elder explained, “To prevent the sword scriptures from falling into the hands of the demon race, the third-generation suzerain used a secret method to seal the two pages of the sword scriptures within a hidden realm.”
“After a fierce battle, the third-generation suzerain escaped to the Taoist Palace by burning his essence, blood, and primordial spirit. But by then, he was exhausted and, after hastily leaving his last wish, he transcended heaven and earth.”
…
With the story concluding, Gu Liuyun understood the Supreme Elder’s intentions.
“The last wish of the third suzerain is for someone to collect all nine pages of the sword scriptures and uncover the true secrets of the path of sword cultivation?” He inquired.
The Supreme Elder sighed deeply and nodded, “Indeed. Our lineage of sword cultivators has spanned five millennia, once a thriving tradition. Each generation’s prodigies ventured deep into the demon realm to pursue the third suzerain’s wish, yet none have returned with those two pages of the sword scripture.”
“As time has passed, the talent for the way of the sword has waned, and our lineage has gradually declined. Without your presence, the sword cultivation tradition might have ended in my generation.”
Following this revelation, a moment of silence descended upon the trio.
Gu Liuyun momentarily asked, “Do you want me to fulfill this wish?”
The Supreme Elder turned to face him and spoke earnestly, “The Taoist Palace’s lineage, with ten thousand years of history, has recorded numerous unparalleled talents with unique constitutions. Everyone has ascended to immortality as long as they haven’t fallen halfway.”
“You possess such a constitution, and you’ve now embarked on the path of sword cultivation. Wouldn’t you like to witness the complete way of sword cultivation?”
“Do you not want to see the awe-inspiring power of the ancient sword cultivators?”
As Gu Liuyun listened to the resounding words of the Supreme Elder, a small smile began to form on his lips. Indeed, after experiencing the might of sword cultivation, it would be regrettable not to explore the complete path of sword cultivation.
He lifted his head, looked at the Supreme Elder, and said with determination, “Please provide me with more detailed information, such as… how to reach the Demon Realm.”
