Only My Dungeon Equipment Levels Up! (SSS-Rank Weapons)

Chapter 44 - But Isn't It Expensive? Both the Price and the Floors.

The next day, we headed to Kokusai-Tenjijo Station.

This station is right by Tokyo Bay.

After consulting with Tanaka, we decided that if we were going to rent or buy the guild’s headquarters, this area would be ideal.

“Well, Tanaka said that if we go, they’ll approach us,” I said.

Reina pushed my wheelchair, and with Nana and Misuzu, the four of us waited outside the station’s ticket gate.

I still felt like people were pointing at Reina, but no one approached us to talk. As expected of Tokyo, they were used to seeing celebrities.

It’s different from Saitama. Not to diss Saitama, but it’s just a matter of encounter rates. Maybe people were being considerate because of the wheelchair, too?

The time was around 2 PM on a Saturday. The season was early summer. The sunlight was strong, but a pleasant breeze made it comfortable.

Just then, a man in a suit came running up to us, waving his hand.

“Mitsurugi, I presume! I was introduced by Tanaka. My name is Nezu!”

A bucktoothed man in a purple suit, who looked a bit shady, quickly introduced himself and handed over his business card. The name Nezu and his appearance reminded me of a rat. However, his polite demeanor suggested he was the type to lose out based on looks.

“Nice to meet you, Nezu. I’m Mitsurugi. Thank you for today.”

“Oh no, with Reina the hero leading the guild, I am very excited!”

Nezu was excessively flattering, but it didn’t feel bad. This must be what they call flattery.

“I’ve heard about Reina, her sister Nana, and guild member Misuzu, correct?”

“Yes, for now, the four of us will be living together.”

“Understood! I have a car ready, please follow me!”

We then got into the car and headed to the property.

“Even at your young age, you’re already so accomplished! I wish my son could learn from you!”

“Oh no, not at all. By the way, what kind of property are we looking at today?”

“We have put our best effort into finding a property. With Tanaka’s introduction, we will do our best with the price!”

(I hadn’t really set any specific conditions. I just left it all to Tanaka.)

As we talked, we arrived at the property.

(Is this the place? It looks nice.)

A medium-sized apartment adjacent to a huge hotel. The location seemed convenient, even close enough to walk to the dungeon.

However, a place like this in a prime location must be quite expensive.

As I viewed the apartment from my wheelchair, Reina wheeled me past it.

“Reina? You passed it.”

“Nezu is walking over there.”

“Huh?”

I followed Reina’s gaze and saw Nezu entering a huge hotel reminiscent of an imperial hotel. The automatic doors opened, inviting us in.

“Please, this way!”

Inside was a space like a luxury hotel lobby. Actually, it was a hotel lobby, complete with a reception desk.

“Is this the place, Nezu?”

“Yes! I’m confident you’ll love this room!”

“Brother…”
“Senpai…”

Misuzu and Nana seemed stunned. Misuzu grew up in a facility, and we were poor. A place like this was far beyond our upbringing, making us nervous to even step inside.

We slowly took a step forward.

Ah, it’s cool in here. How much electricity must it take to cool this vast space? At our house, we still only use fans.

We were then shown to the room. The elevator alone was bigger than half our house.

“The apartment includes an indoor heated pool, concierge service, sky lounge, sports gym, and a rooftop bar.”

(Is this really an apartment? It feels like a luxury hotel. We can’t use the bar since we’re all underage.)

Ding!

“We’ve arrived. This floor is reserved for you, Mitsurugi. It’s newly built and fully booked, but we kept this floor available for you!”

(Amazing, it’s like a mansion you see on TV.)

The door opened to reveal a carpeted hallway. This was the 32nd floor. Even in the dungeon, we hadn’t reached such high floors.

As we were guided through a clean white door, a foyer larger than my entire house greeted us.

“W-wow, amazing. Brother, isn’t this foyer bigger than our whole place?”

Nana stood in awe.

“Wow! It’s like something out of a TV show!”

Misuzu was excitedly jumping up and down.

“…”

Reina remained expressionless.

Each of us reacted differently as we began exploring the place.

“Feel free to look around. If you decide to purchase, all the furniture is included.”

Apparently, all the furniture came with the place, including the avant-garde objects I didn’t understand. It was probably stylish, though.

There were plenty of stylish items, including an object made from dried trees. I didn’t get the artwork hanging on the walls either, but it must be artistic. Yeah, I don’t get it at all.

“This sofa is amazing! So soft!”
“Misuzu, don’t just… wait, it really is!”

The two girls, their tension eased, began exploring with laughter. I didn’t know how many rooms there were, but this place could easily fit fifty people.

I passed through the massive living room, heading to the balcony. There was a separate outdoor bath space next to a huge indoor jacuzzi, offering a view of the sea from the high floor.

Or so I thought. Instead of Tokyo Bay, there was a giant tower. The view wasn’t bad; the towering structure piercing the sky was fantastical. The dungeon was practically within reach, a short walk away.

“It’s incredible… It’s a different world from that of a poor high school student.”

“No, no. Tanaka mentioned the budget. You should be able to pay it off quickly.”

“Budget? How much is this place?”

(This must be one of those multi-million-dollar apartments. Maybe close to a billion yen.)

The amount Nezu quoted far exceeded my expectations.

“Yes, this property is 480 million yen.”

“4… no, 500 million!? I can’t afford that!”

I felt dizzy and sat down on the balcony chair.

(Even the chair out here looks expensive…)

My monthly income was 50 million yen, but after taxes, it was around 30 million. I couldn’t afford 500 million yen.

“Tanaka expected this. He said to call him when you reach this point.”

Nezu answered with a smile.

(He anticipated everything…)

I contacted Tanaka.

Ring, ring…

“Hey, Kenya. I guess it’s too expensive, right?”

“Yes… The place is nice, spacious, and convenient, but 500 million is…”

“Haha! That’s not something a guy earning 50 million a month should say! Anyway, I have a good job for you. Can you spare two weeks? You can’t go into the dungeon with your injury, right?”

“A job?”

The words “good job” echoed in my mind. I imagined something high-paying… not likely.

“Yes, something only you can do. Come to the company today, and I’ll explain.”

Tanaka asked me to come with Reina.

“How was it?” Nezu asked.

“Probably going to buy it…”

“Wonderful!”

Nezu’s face lit up with a smile.

“Let’s prepare everything,” Tanaka said after hanging up. He began making arrangements for Kenya’s job, calling his subordinates.

“Hey, I need you to buy a few things. Oh, and get two couple-style futons.”
