Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Organizational Instructions

Amuro Toru knew that Gin wouldn't contact him unless there were special circumstances.

However, he had no intention of answering truthfully.

"I don't think I need to report my location to you, Gin, do I?"

Toru Amuro wasn't afraid of Gin. He used his usual arrogant tone, as he did in the organization, to speak to Gin on the other end of the call.

But Gin seemed uninterested in wasting time with him.

"Bourbon, go retrieve this exhibit, the Heart of the Scarlet Shadow."

Gin's words made Toru Amuro's heart skip a beat.

From Gin's statement, Amuro realized Gin already knew his location.

Toru hadn't noticed any organizational members nearby, nor had he been aware of being followed or eavesdropped on.

He was briefly puzzled—how did Gin know he was at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center?

Gin, sensing his momentary pause, guessed Toru Amuro's thoughts.

"Surprised, Bourbon? Cohen told me he saw you at Tokyo Big Sight."

'Cohen is here too? Why?'

Toru's doubts deepened, but Gin quickly provided an explanation:

"These are Rum's instructions."

'Rum.'

Toru Amuro was once again startled.

Not only was Kaitou Kid targeting this jewel, but so was the organization.

This made Toru Amuro curious: what hidden value did this ruby possess that drew so much attention?

"Cohen is here too?" Toru asked again.

"Yes, Korn and Vodka are here for this jewel. But they're too conspicuous—hardly suited for this sort of task. Korn happened to see you, so I'll leave it to someone more experienced in disguises: you."

Gin's voice remained low and steady, making it difficult for Amuro to gauge his true thoughts.

Although Amuro wasn't directly subordinate to Gin and didn't have to obey his orders, this particular task came from Rum, the organization's second-in-command.

Refusal was not an option.

Of course, accepting didn't necessarily mean completing the task as instructed.

Toru Amuro let me off so easily, even after realizing I'd exposed his identity as a police officer to him?

After testing Amuro, Akikawa Kyousuke noticed that he didn't seem to have further plans to act against him.

You're really careless. As an undercover agent with such a sensitive identity, you let someone who could expose you walk free.

Kyousuke knew the most crucial part of being undercover was protecting one's true identity.

And yet, after revealing this secret, Amuro had let him go with little resistance.

Kyousuke found this unbelievable.

Still, if Amuro hadn't been so careless, Kyousuke wouldn't have identified his true identity so soon.

Kyousuke watched as Amuro walked off the stage, distancing himself to answer the call.

Moments later, Amuro ended the call and turned back toward Kyousuke.

Kyousuke took the initiative and approached him.

"Anyway, I'm really sorry for what happened today."

"I have other matters to attend to, so I'll leave now," Amuro said decisively before heading in another direction.

Kyousuke watched Amuro's retreating figure, recalling his reaction just before taking the call.

Amuro had told him he needed to answer a call, moved offstage, and taken out his phone.

There were two possibilities.

One, he wanted to distance himself while taking a call.

Two, he had already guessed the caller's identity and needed to move away to keep it hidden.

Given that Amuro didn't leave during the call and even waited after finishing it, the second scenario seemed more likely.

It was a straightforward method—using separate phones for different identities and storing them in distinct pockets—to quickly identify the caller.

Kyousuke also noticed another detail:

When Amuro previously referred to Vermouth, he called her the "partner of Chianti," concealing his knowledge of her real identity.

While cautious, it wasn't cautious enough.

Amuro didn't realize that his identity as a public safety officer had already been exposed to Kyousuke.

As an undercover agent, it was vital to prevent such discoveries.

Was it someone from the organization calling him?

Kyousuke pondered the identity of the caller, someone who caused Amuro to leave so suddenly. He also felt a growing sense of unease.

The hidden danger had returned.

Kyousuke couldn't predict when the elementary school "Shinigami" would inform Amuro about Kyouji Toda.

If Amuro learned what Toda said during his arrest, he'd undoubtedly get entangled with Kyousuke again.

Kyousuke glanced back at Hall C, where the crowd was dispersing, and a new idea began to form in his mind.

In Hall C.

Detective Nakamori Ginzo of Division 2 yelled, "Clear the way!" as he revealed his police badge.

After pushing through waves of enthusiastic fans eager to see Kaitou Kid, he finally reached area C-2, where the original Yuehua necklace was displayed.

"What a bunch of fools. The necklace is gone, meaning Kaitou Kid has already succeeded."

"Now that they're here, how do they expect to see Kaitou Kid?"

Nakamori complained to a subordinate while removing the retractable security tape around the collection room's entrance.

The subordinate silently followed Nakamori into the room.

As the reports suggested, the display case that once held the natural pearl necklace was empty.

Approaching the case in the center of the room, Nakamori carefully examined it.

He noticed this display was different from the one housing the Heart of the Scarlet Shadow.

"Wait, isn't this display case different from the Heart of the Scarlet Shadow case?"

Nakamori turned to the venue staff nearby.

The staff member nodded. "Only the Heart of the Scarlet Shadow is housed under the highest security standards."
