Chapter 262: Chapter 262: Prediction

Sera Masumi took out her mobile phone and typed a text message while following the police from the Second Investigation Division to Arena D.

"I saw Toru Amuro in front of Scarlet Heart. Has he abandoned his doubts about Mr. Akikawa?"

Sera Masumi didn't know anything about Yuya Kazami.

However, she assumed that Amuro Toru had come for Akikawa Kyousuke.

Since Toru Amuro was no longer by Akikawa Kyousuke's side, Sera Masumi speculated that perhaps Amuro had stopped doubting him.

---

Sera didn't have Akikawa Kyousuke's number saved in her phone.

She typed Kyousuke's number from memory and hit send.

After a short while, Sera Masumi received a response.

"No, what I did in Hakone has been exposed."

"What?!"

Sera Masumi couldn't help but exclaim in surprise when she saw Akikawa Kyousuke's reply.

---

The policewoman named Kurihara, walking ahead, turned around at the sound and looked at Sera with a puzzled expression.

"Miss Sera, are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm fine. Sorry about that."

Sera Masumi responded dismissively, then felt it was too much trouble to continue texting. Instead, she called Akikawa Kyousuke directly.

The phone barely rang before it was answered.

"Mr. Akikawa, is this a convenient time for you?"

---

Sera Masumi noticed that Akikawa Kyousuke's surroundings were very quiet—there wasn't any background noise at all.

'Has Mr. Akikawa already left the area?'

She wondered to herself.

---

"It's convenient."

Hearing Kyousuke's response, Sera Masumi glanced ahead.

The police officers from the Second Investigation Division were hurriedly heading toward Hall D, paying no attention to her.

She lowered her voice, covered her mouth slightly, and immediately voiced her doubts:

"How could they know? Even if Toru Amuro is an undercover agent in the organization, Vermouth didn't know that you were the mysterious man who fought her that day!"

---

"After the Toda case, Amuro installed a tracking and listening device on my phone. He's been sending police to secretly follow and monitor me ever since."

Akikawa Kyousuke's calm voice came through the phone.

---

His words shocked Sera Masumi once again.

Not only was she being monitored, but even Toru Amuro had been keeping an eye on Akikawa Kyousuke because of Kyouji Toda.

---

But what shocked her even more was the relaxed tone Akikawa Kyousuke used to talk about such matters.

It was as if he were discussing someone else's situation, not his own.

---

Installing a tracking and listening device on someone's phone—was this something that could be detected so casually?

Akikawa Kyousuke's vigilance once again broadened Sera Masumi's understanding of him.

---

"That day at Kosen-an, I handed my phone to Vermouth."

"I thought the public safety officer tailing me might take care of her. But in the end, Vermouth killed him instead."

"Mr. Amuro seemed to think I was the one who killed the officer, so he came after me."

---

As she listened to Kyousuke's account, Sera Masumi's eyes widened with shock.

What if that public safety officer had managed to eliminate Vermouth, who was already in bad shape at the time?

It could be said that Akikawa Kyousuke would have executed a flawless plan, using someone else's hand to do the deed while remaining in the shadows.

---

But it had all gone wrong.

Unexpectedly, the officer was the one who ended up dead.

---

"Mr. Akikawa, doesn't this put you in a very dangerous situation now?"

Sera Masumi thought carefully about Kyousuke's behavior in previous cases.

She suddenly felt that if Amuro Toru or Conan found out about these events, the consequences could be dire.

---

"It doesn't matter."

Hearing Kyousuke's simple response, Sera Masumi felt conflicted.

Was Akikawa Kyousuke confident there was no information exchange between Conan and Amuro Toru?

Or was he simply fearless, no matter what they might know?

---

Whatever the case, Kyousuke's current position was undeniably precarious.

---

"Mr. Akikawa, are you really okay with sharing these details with me so openly?"

Sera Masumi asked, puzzled.

Wasn't he worried she might relay this information to Conan?

---

"If you, Miss Sera, could figure it out, others would have already learned about me."

She heard Kyousuke's faint laugh through the phone.

---

While what Akikawa Kyousuke said made sense, it didn't change the fact that he was taking a huge risk by revealing such critical secrets.

This one-sided trust left Sera Masumi feeling unexpectedly moved.

---

Especially after dealing with Conan, who never shared anything and sent her to Hall D simply because he saw Toru Amuro there.

Akikawa Kyousuke and Conan both possessed extraordinary intellect, but the level of trust Kyousuke offered was vastly different.

---

"What's the situation on your end?"

Akikawa Kyousuke's sudden question brought Sera Masumi back to the moment.

---

"I had a brief encounter with Kaito Kid but let him escape."

"Still, with the kid and Toru Amuro there at Scarlet Shadow Heart, there's no way Kaito Kid can get the gems."

Sera Masumi shared her current situation with Kyousuke.

---

While she felt Kaito Kid's plan was destined to fail, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt for constantly receiving sensitive information from Kyousuke without offering much in return.

So, with the thought of reciprocating, she told him about the details of her own case, even though they might not be of much use to him.

---

"The person who returned the gems to the display case wasn't Mr. Tsukino or Officer Nakamori. It was a detective from the First Investigation Division?"

Akikawa Kyousuke asked suddenly.

"Yes, Mr. Tsukino never touched the gems throughout the entire process."

"That's all."

---

"What's on your mind, Mr. Akikawa? Is there something about this case that interests you?"

Sera Masumi asked.

"Nothing much. I'm just a little curious about the value of that gem."

Kyousuke chuckled lightly.

---

"Besides, I think there's a high probability something will happen at Scarlet Shadow Heart."

"What do you mean? What could happen there?"

Sera Masumi was confused.

---

"Do you think Kaito Kid will steal the gem?"

"Something like that, but I'm not entirely certain."

---

"Huh?"

Sera Masumi found herself puzzled by Kyousuke's vague words.

She felt like she couldn't quite follow his train of thought.

But since Akikawa Kyousuke himself admitted he wasn't sure, she chose not to press the matter further.
