Chapter 267: Chapter 267: Transmission

Nakamori Ginzo snatched the cellphone from the police officer who kept his head down, too afraid to speak, and angrily called the Metropolitan Police Department.

After providing a detailed report and requesting backup, he hung up the phone and handed it back to the officer.

Nakamori Ginzo turned his attention to the ruby in Conan's hand. Conan promptly handed over the Scarlet Shadow's Heart.

Taking a pair of gloves from one of his subordinates, Nakamori Ginzo carefully put them on. After confirming there was nothing wrong with the ruby, he stored it securely.

---

"Urgent Announcement!

All visitors in the area, please be advised that a shooting has occurred in Zone B.

Kaitou Kid, who attempted to steal the Scarlet Heart, was attacked by an unknown individual. For now, remain where you are, avoid moving freely, and stay away from the collection room.

Additionally, please avoid standing in elevated areas to prevent further accidents."

---

The announcement echoed once again in the exhibition hall.

As it ended, Conan turned to Toru Amuro.

"Mr. Amuro, do you know where Mr. Tsukino is?"

"I'm not sure where Mr. Tsukino went after leaving the stage," replied Toru Amuro with a shake of his head.

---

'It seems the organization is also after this gem.'

'That's why Mr. Amuro deliberately let Kaitou Kid go earlier, hoping he would steal the gem.'

Although Conan couldn't directly ask Toru Amuro about the specifics, the events from earlier had allowed him to piece together the reasons for Amuro's actions against Kaitou Kid.

---

The organization's interest in the gem also explained why Amuro wasn't surprised when Kaitou Kid was attacked.

He had likely known all along that the organization had sent snipers to the scene.

---

'Letting Kaitou Kid steal the gem is indeed a reasonable way to keep it out of the organization's hands.'

'But by doing this, wouldn't Mr. Amuro draw the organization's attention to Kaitou Kid?'

'Mr. Amuro, what are you really thinking?'

---

Kaitou Kid had no ties to the organization.

Even when Belmode and Toru Amuro had targeted Haibara Ai, Conan had enlisted Kaitou Kid's help.

Because Kaitou Kid's disguises were so flawless, no one had suspected a thing.

But this time, if the organization realized that Kaitou Kid—whom they believed to be dead—was still alive, they might begin hunting him, just as they hunted Akikawa Kyousuke's mother.

---

While Conan doubted the organization could easily track down such a mysterious thief, who was as elusive as they were, he knew that Kaitou Kid's bold and flamboyant behavior often drew attention.

This made it nearly impossible for him to stay off the organization's radar.

---

Conan desperately wanted to ask Toru Amuro about his thoughts.

However, Sera Masumi had returned and seemed to be growing suspicious of Amuro.

Any rash action might immediately alert Sera Masumi that something was amiss.

Conan didn't want Sera Masumi to learn Amuro's true identity.

---

"Although Kaitou Kid was hit in the head, he didn't bleed. Moreover, he escaped instantly, so he should be fine."

'Additionally, he didn't disappear immediately after being hit by the bullet. Instead, he fell before vanishing.'

'This way, the organization will believe they successfully killed him and won't know that Kaitou Kid is still alive, at least for now.'

---

While Conan was lost in thought, Sera Masumi's voice interrupted him.

"Hey, kid, tell me what just happened."

Conan nodded and, after a brief moment, described the events to Sera Masumi.

---

"Kidd said we were all being deceived. Just as he was about to explain about the gem, he was suddenly interrupted."

---

'Deceived? Who was deceived?'

Sera Masumi pondered Kaitou Kid's words.

The "we" that Kaitou Kid mentioned included the detectives, the police, and himself.

The only entity capable of deceiving all three simultaneously was the Tsukino Foundation.

---

'Tsukino Takashi?'

Sera Masumi recalled something Akikawa Kyousuke had recently mentioned to her.

---

'Akikawa specifically confirmed with me whether Officer Nakamori and Tsukino Takashi had placed the Scarlet Shadow's Heart back into the display case after recovering it.'

'Why would Akikawa bring this up? Does it have something to do with Tsukino Takashi?'

'Could it be that Akikawa had already noticed something suspicious about Tsukino Takashi at that time?'

---

Sera Masumi glanced at the gemstone Nakamori Ginzo had carefully wrapped and stored.

---

'Although Kaitou Kid had just stolen the gem, it ended up back in police custody after he was shot by the organization.'

'This outcome seems slightly different from what Akikawa might have anticipated.'

'Still, not even Akikawa could have predicted the organization's involvement with the gem.'

---

Just as Sera Masumi was deep in thought, another announcement echoed throughout the venue:

---

**"Emergency Notice!

The Moonflower Necklace collection room in Zone C of Area 2 has also exploded!

Tourists, please keep your distance!"**

---

"What?!"

Everyone present gasped in shock upon hearing the announcement.

---

'Another explosion?!'

'What's going on? The Moonflower Necklace isn't even in the collection room anymore. Why did it still explode?'

'Wasn't the bomb meant for Kaitou Kid?'

---

Hearing the broadcast, Conan's mind fell into chaos.

---

Meanwhile, outside Zone B and near the entrance to Zone C:

After changing his disguise, Kuroba Kaito stared at the loudspeaker with a puzzled expression.

A giant question mark seemed to hang above his head.

---

'Who the hell has been making these announcements in the broadcasting room?'

---

Kuroba Kaito had taken control of the broadcasting room by noon.

Without it, he wouldn't have been able to mislead Ginzo Nakamori about his appearance in Arena D earlier.

Using a microphone, he had connected his voice to the loudspeaker, broadcasting his false information across the venue.

Everything had gone smoothly—until now.

---

From a certain point onward, Kuroba Kaito noticed that his voice no longer reached the venue through the system.

At the same time, a constant stream of announcements began playing instead.

---

He was certain someone else had taken over the broadcasting system.

However, it wasn't someone from the event staff.

---

Kuroba Kaito realized this when the announcement about the explosion failed to cause any panic among the visitors in Arena C.
