Chapter 69 - The Two Bosses
Zhang Mengmeng’s fusion results actually surprised Jiang Cheng quite a bit.
The Dreadful Skeleton should be based on the Swordsman template, combining elements of the Mage, Knight, and Archer classes.
On the player’s side, Zhang Mengmeng had resurrected a total of 6 skeletons:
Two Mages, a Knight, a Swordsman, an Archer, and a Priest.
Among them, the Knight, Archer, Mage, and Priest possessed skills.
The Knight had a level 15 Guardian skill, the Archer a level 15 Wind Arrow, and the Mage a level 10 Explosive Flame.
The Sword of Explosive Flame likely fused the Explosive Flame skill, the Sword of Guardianship fused the Guardian skill, and the Sword of Tempest fused the Wind Arrow skill.
Seeing that Zhang Mengmeng could produce such an effect gave Jiang Cheng hope for creating his own perfect skill-matching lineup in the future.
[Evolving the Dreadful Skeleton requires 1000 Evolution Points. Do you want to proceed with the evolution?]
[Insufficient Evolution Points.]
“Alright then.” Jiang Cheng paused slightly, feeling a tinge of frustration.
It seemed he would need to venture out and earn more Evolution Points, and deal with potential threats along the way.
This time, he had Plundered three skills: Leap Slash, Synchronization, and Explosive Flame.
Leap Slash made up for his lack of mobility and negated falling damage from great heights.
Synchronization allowed him to synchronize his health with his Skeleton Warhorse mount.
Explosive Flame compensated for his weakness in long-range AoE damage, giving him more options against wild monsters with high physical defense.
The cooldown of his Blood Hell Ice Slash was too long to efficiently clear out mobs.
On the other hand, Explosive Flame had a cooldown of only 1 second, which was manageable. However, the magic attack aspect posed a bit of a challenge.
“Hey, Skeleton Big Brother, Master wanted me to give you these.”
Zhang Mengmeng handed over three items to Jiang Cheng, fighting back his shyness.
Two were five-star Socket Stones, and the third was a mysterious stone.
“A job transfer reward?” Jiang Cheng recalled that the reward was supposed to be two five-star Socket Stones and a skill book unrelated to any profession.
Taking the items, Jiang Cheng examined them curiously.
【Socket Stone】
Quality: Five Stars
Description: Can add a socket to equipment with an 80% success rate.
【Magic Runestone】
Quality: Legendary
Description: When embedded in a weapon, increases spell damage by 100.
“Nice.” Jiang Cheng felt a warmth in his heart.
Although Natalie wasn’t one for words, she was quite kind.
She probably figured he wasn’t lacking in skills, and thus replaced the book with a Magic Runestone for him.
“I’ll remember this kindness.” Jiang Cheng gazed at the temple, knowing Natalie was watching.
He took out the previously acquired Heart of Blood Raven and Heart of Misfortune.
The Heart of Misfortune reduced enemies’ attack and defense by 10%.
The Heart of Blood Raven increased his Archer Mastery, providing a 40% boost to archery damage and +15 hit points.
Legendary weapons could only have two sockets, so Jiang Cheng chose the Heart of Blood Raven and Magic Runestone without hesitation.
This greatly improved his spell attacks and bow accuracy.
With Explosive Flame, his efficiency at killing monsters from afar increased. He could now take out groups of wild monsters with high physical defense or those difficult to approach.
“Let’s go, it’s time to head out.”
Seeing that A Silly Cutie had packed up the spoils, Jiang Cheng summoned his Skeleton Warhorse. Pulling her up to sit behind him, he galloped away from the temple.
Two bosses were waiting for him out there.
…
Furywind City.
Du Ba Tianxia sat across from a male archer in a restaurant, his respectful demeanor indicating the person opposite him was someone of high standing.
“I’m not sure I can convince my master to take on the level 30 Blood Hell Demon Guard Arte and Blood Hell Sword Guard Arman,” Qian Chonglang said with a sigh, taking a swig of the strong wine. “She hasn’t grouped with anyone in a long time.”
“That’s a shame,” Du Ba Tianxia replied, his tone sympathetic. “Do you have time to help me out, Chonglang?”
Du Ba Tianxia smiled to himself, knowing he didn’t really want Qian Shanxue’s help. His real target was Qian Chonglang.
“I’ve got some free time, but I’m curious – where is this boss that drops the Guild Establishment Token?”
“Last I heard, it was lurking on the outskirts of Gloomy Woods,” Qian Chonglang replied, his brow furrowed. “No idea what those two bosses are doing out there, to be honest. It’s all pretty mysterious.”
