Perfect World: Dream of the Immortal Era

Chapter 9: Ancient Glyphs

In an instant, his eyes captured an indescribably magnificent spectacle. This was no ordinary Hall of the Doctrine; it was a vast galaxy in its own right.

Countless 'stars' floated, aligned, and twinkled resplendently within that grand hall, shining with an unparalleled radiance, a scene Wang Heng had never witnessed before. The myriad stars, each exuding a soft glow, created an exquisite and dreamlike atmosphere.

Yet upon closer inspection, one would discover these stars were not true celestial bodies, but a cascade of ancient characters.

Each stroke encapsulated the trajectory of the Dao, outlining the most primordial secrets of this world.

Wang Heng's heart was shaken—could these be the millionancestral characters of the Primitive Ancient Realm's lore? The expanse was astonishing, like an endless ocean.

According to the enigmatic man, mastering these ancient characters before sowing the Dao would greatly benefit the process.

However, these celestial characters, the words of the Great Dao, numbered in the millions, more than tenfold that of the Chinese characters in the real world. Understanding the majority of them was no easy feat.

Moreover, these characters differed from the modern Chinese script; they were meant to depict and convey the truths of the Great Dao. To grasp them, one had to comprehend the profound Daoist truths buried within the characters, adding to the challenge.

But Wang Heng would not be deterred by mere difficulty ahead. He knew these characters were fundamental to his path on the road to cultivation. To reach the peak, one must first lay the foundation. The journey is taken step by step.

Taking a deep breath, he stepped forward into the majestic, silver-white metallic ancient hall.

The moment both his feet crossed the threshold, the enormous portal rumbled shut, leaving not the slightest gap.

From afar, the true immortal watched this scene unfold and nodded quietly to himself.

"With the young master's unparalleled talent, comprehending those ancient characters shouldn't take long. Cultivating the Dao will be within reach. It seems the time taken for this talent awakening hasn't delayed progress. By the time the Celestial King returns, everything will have unfolded according to his plan," he murmured to himself.

Should Wang Heng succeed in cultivating the Dao and rely on that terrifying primordial spirit talent to vie for supremacy and shake the ancient realm, he, as Wang Heng's guardian, would undoubtedly earn the Celestial King's rewards.

For a true immortal, even a casual pointer from the Celestial King is an invaluable treasure, let alone a reward. At this thought, a smile appeared on the enigmatic man's face, and he contemplated the possibility of advancing further on the path of immortality.

At this moment, within the silver-white metallic hall, Wang Heng stood amidst an expanse of darkness, gazing up at the firmament.

The vast river of ancient celestial characters hung above him in the form of endless stars.

Even before truly beginning to study and comprehend them, he could already sense their extraordinariness. Each character contained a profound meaning, interpreting certain rules and principles, exuding a strong aura of the Dao.

This place is less a sea of ancient celestial characters and more a vast ocean of the Great Dao.

To wander within it is akin to merging with the Dao itself, becoming one with heaven and earth.

With a mix of nervous anticipation, Wang Heng set his sights on one particular "star."

Positioned at the tail end of the starry river, its faint glow was not among the brightest, aligning with a class of relatively weaker Dao rules.

As a newcomer, Wang Heng was unaware of the difficulty these ancient characters posed, so naturally, he decided to start with the one that seemed easiest to grasp.

Yet, as his gaze rested upon this "star," a mysterious resonance arose, bridging the great distance between man and character.

A wave of Dao's essence surged forth, enveloping him completely. It was peculiar, vibrant with life, imbued with freshness, as if all things were blossoming anew, awakening.

Wang Heng's body instinctively responded, wisps of celestial energy emanating from his flesh, drifting around him, bestowing a sacred aura that seemed to transcend the mortal realm.

This was not a result of his control but a natural reaction of his body.

"Starlight" plummeted, its momentum comparable to a rainbow, but as soon as it neared Wang Heng's body, it was caught by the celestial aura surrounding him. Like a swamp, a vast net intercepted it, slowed it down, and finally halted it right on Wang Heng's chest.

The ancient characters, shrouded in mystery with their enigmatic curves, appeared as if cast from metal, emanating with resplendent starlight, all clearly visible in Wang Heng's eyes.

Even though he had been in this world for less than an hour and was still unfamiliar with everything, when faced with these celestial ancient characters, he possessed an extraordinary ability that helped him quickly grasp the true essence of the script.

Perhaps it was his powerful primordial spirit or the celestial aura around him, akin to tendrils, that aided him...

In just the time it took for a single breath, Wang Heng comprehended the principles of the great Dao conveyed by the ancient character on his chest.

It described the process of a plant, from its inception as a seed to taking root and sprouting, and finally growing into a vast vine.

The entire process was filled with intense life force, driven by the power of life, and thus, this ancient character could be categorized under the rules of life.

With a complete understanding of its profound meaning, Wang Heng gained much, even though it was just an ordinary one among millions of ancient characters. Yet, like a stepping stone, it gave him a rough idea of the celestial ancient system's direction.

Suddenly, he extended his hand, gathering all the usable power within his body into his palm, attempting to manifest what he had learned.

In Wang Heng's palm, a swirl of white mist danced, shrouded in mystery. Subtle laws of the great Dao flowed through it.

The next moment, an ancient glyph materialized. Its curves and textures were identical to the ancient glyph that had fallen from the sky, as if they were carved from the same mold.

Under Wang Heng's direction, the glyph began to transform. First, it emitted light, forming a cocoon on its surface. Then it became a seed with a brown hue tinged with green.

Life energy surged into it, causing the seed to quiver wildly.

Finally, a tender sprout broke through the seed's coat, emerging into the unfamiliar world.

An overwhelming vitality poured forth, feeding the sprout.

The sprout, as if nourished by a powerful tonic, grew rapidly to the height of two adult men within moments.

Under Wang Heng's influence, it continued to extend and expand.

In a short time, a massive vine, several yards long and as thick as an arm, covered in lush green leaves, had appeared before him.

Witnessing his creation, Wang Heng, who had once staunchly believed in the supremacy of science, was profoundly shaken. Creating such a vibrant green landscape in less than the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea would undoubtedly be considered a miracle in the real world.
