A massive chandelier, too grand to be described merely as “luxurious,” sparkled in the center of the lobby. Beneath it, lounging on an expensive black leather sofa that looked too delicate to sit on, was a man in a suit who somehow still gave off a delinquent vibe. It was Park Jihoon.
Jihoon, nervously bouncing his leg, casually addressed the man in front of him.
“What brings the Managing Director here…?”
“What brings young master Jihoon here? The Managing Director said not to come if you’re going to cause trouble.”
“…Do you know why Secretary Oh and Junjae hyung have such bad personalities?”
“Shall we start with you, young master?”
“It’s because they’re surrounded by irritating people everywhere…”
“And what percentage of that do you think you account for?”
“I told you I can’t win with words. Sheesh.” Jihoon looked the man in front of him up and down.
Secretary Oh. The man in a dark navy suit, wearing glasses and holding a tablet, sat with his legs crossed, exuding class. Honestly, he seemed more suited to Jihoon’s innocent friend in terms of personality and manners, but this man was a passionate alpha. His family background was ordinary too. The diamond in the rough Jihoon had discovered couldn’t compare to this.
Although he couldn’t match up to the dominant alpha this man served, he was still good enough for those below.
Truthfully, Jihoon hadn’t expected to meet Secretary Oh in the lobby. It was obvious that Won Junjae, the second son of the eldest son of the Won Group, would become the next owner of Won Electronics in 10 years. Owning Won Electronics meant essentially controlling the Won Group. So, the presence of that great man’s loyal secretary in the lobby meant Won Junjae was in the suite.
It was scary to think about running into him, but Secretary Oh would move before that man did, and Jihoon just needed to avoid that. His target was actually the eldest son of the third son of the Won Group. Another of his cousin’s relatives, not Managing Director Won Junjae.
Won Sejin. He showed off playing the piano, but he was a sensitive and kind person. Although he was a recessive alpha, he was still a member of the Won Group family, and a novice who had only dated three times. Unlike someone sensitive who serves others and is extremely picky about appearance, he was a hyung who desired agape love. He was a perfect match for the innocent and cute Jeonggwan.
Jihoon smiled slyly, wanting to gift his friend a wonderful partner before he was sold off to some strange nouveau riche bastard.
He had told Won Sejin to stop by the lobby before going to the banquet hall, so his plan was to have him naturally chat with Jeonggwan who should be arriving now, then have them part regretfully, and a few days later, invite the two love-struck individuals for a meal to start their romance. That was Jihoon’s goal.
And just then, he spotted what looked like a hamster in the distance – it was Jeonggwan. Hey! Jihoon waved. At the same time, Secretary Oh stood up, looking at his phone.
“Oh? Secretary Oh, are you leaving already?”
“Yes.”
“Alright… Hey! Kim Jeonggwan! Over here!”
What’s this? Why is he wearing a suit? Is someone getting married here? Jeonggwan squinted at the figure waving frantically at him, wondering if it really was Park Jihoon he was seeing. How does he still look like a delinquent even in a suit?
And why did he tell me to come to the hotel lobby when he’s in a suit and I’m in a hoodie and jeans? How annoying.
Jeonggwan was grumbling as he was about to walk towards Jihoon.
Ding –
Just as Jeonggwan was passing by the elevator, the doors slid open with a chime indicating arrival at the first floor.
“…?”
And a strong scent of strawberry jam captured Jeonggwan’s nose.
What’s this? Reflexively turning his head, Jeonggwan saw a group of men in black suits pouring out in front of him.
“…Wow…”
Among them was a man wearing a charcoal gray three-piece suit. Even though the surrounding men were all big, his shoulders were no less impressive, and his height, which seemed to approach 190cm, caught Jeonggwan’s attention.
Moreover, the man was so stunningly handsome that Jeonggwan didn’t even realize he had uttered “Wow.”
The man’s face was so perfect it seemed as if an angel had slapped ordinary people and said, “This is the original, you fools.” His T-zone made Jeonggwan wonder if such a nose was possible without plastic surgery, and his tightly closed lips completed the picture. It was an absolutely perfect face.
Furthermore, every movement he made exuded such luxury that it felt like he wiped his mouth with money instead of napkins after meals.
Jeonggwan stopped in his tracks and stared intently at the man. Wow. So this is what it feels like to see a celebrity, he thought. No, rather than a celebrity, he was closer to a king? Prince? Nobleman? Something like that.
“Step aside.”
Jeonggwan sheepishly moved his feet as the men in black suits slightly pushed him, telling him to move aside.
At the small commotion, the man’s gaze slightly shifted towards Jeonggwan. The moment their eyes met, Jeonggwan nearly had a heart attack.
Wow-. He’s so handsome.
The man also cast his gaze on Jeonggwan. His expression was blank, but there was a slight hint of contempt in his eyes. However, Jeonggwan, oblivious to this, stared at the man as if enchanted, almost drooling.
“You… What are you doing?”
Then, from among the group of bodyguards, a familiar voice spoke in bewilderment as it grabbed Jeonggwan’s arm. Jeonggwan snapped out of his trance.
“Uh… Hyung…?”
It was Jeongyun, Jeonggwan’s third older brother.
Kim Jeongyun was part of Security Team 2. Their usual duty was to handle in-company security for the managing director of Won Electronics, but today was special. There was a hotel banquet where most of the Won Group’s owner family would be attending, so orders came to strengthen security.
Thus, today’s schedule for Security Team 2 included moving with Managing Director Won Junjae from the company to the hotel, meeting up with “Glasses” who arrived earlier, and then watching him enter the banquet hall.
“Glasses” was the nickname for Secretary Oh within the security team. He said he’d be in the lobby for about an hour, double-checking the schedule for Won Junjae’s business trip tomorrow. So they first escorted the VIP to the suite room, with about an hour to spare.
However, after about 20 minutes, the VIP unexpectedly left the room without notice, even though it wasn’t time for the banquet yet. Jeongyun, flustered, texted Glasses about the movement as soon as they entered the elevator. They should have gone down to the first floor to check first, but due to the sudden movement, they couldn’t, putting the security team on edge.
As soon as they got off the elevator, they encountered another variable. Usually, not even an ant would be allowed to pass on their route. But sure enough, a civilian they hadn’t managed to block in advance had stopped and was staring intently at the VIP.
Worried that the civilian might have recognized Managing Director Won Junjae and try to take a photo, the head of Security Team 2 gently pushed the civilian away, telling them to step back. The VIP frowned and glanced at the civilian with a “what’s this?” expression.
They thought he would look away in contempt and move on immediately, but strangely, he fixed his gaze on that civilian for quite a while. Ah-. He must be in a really bad mood now. The entire security team gulped. They all thought their employer was quite displeased. He was always in a bad mood, so they should have gone down to check in advance. It was largely their fault.
At the team leader’s quick eye signal, Jeongyun, the youngest, turned to remove the civilian from the VIP’s sight, but-
Wait, who is this?
It was their family’s precious youngest, Kim Jeonggwan.
Caught off guard by this unexpected person, Jeongyun’s mind went blank for a moment, and forgetting he was in front of the VIP, he grabbed Jeonggwan’s arm in surprise.
The man’s gaze moved to Jeongyun’s hand holding Jeonggwan’s arm.
Before Jeonggwan could finish calling out “Hyung?”, Jeongyun pulled him back, hiding him behind his body. Although his employer had a prickly personality, he usually didn’t care about these small incidents. Jeongyun thought he would probably just follow the security team leader’s guidance, meet up with Glasses, listen to the schedule, and head to the banquet hall. It was somewhat fortunate that his employer was different from other chaebols who would make a fuss over every little thing.
Jeongyun refocused on Jeonggwan and asked in a low voice with a bewildered expression, “What are you doing here?”
As the man’s figure was blocked, Jeonggwan seemed to come back to his senses as if waking from a trance and looked up at his brother.
“I, part-time job…”
“What… Oh. Banquet desserts?”
“Yeah.”
“Then you should leave through the staff entrance. Why are you in the lobby? Did you get lost?”
Jeongyun’s voice was genuinely curious rather than scolding. Jeonggwan’s body jerked as if suddenly remembering something. He recalled Park Jihoon waiting for him in the lobby.
“My friend…!”
“Friend?”
The delinquent who would likely throw a fit about why they suddenly stopped was clear in his mind’s eye. Jeonggwan peeked out from behind Jeongyun’s body that was blocking his view, trying to spot that delinquent.
“…”
“…Wow.”
However, what he saw wasn’t the delinquent Park Jihoon, but that nobleman-like man from earlier who was still so handsome it made him exclaim “wow” again.
Contrary to Jeongyun’s expectation that the man would have moved towards the banquet hall with the security team, he had completely turned his body towards them and was looking down at Jeonggwan. His gaze was complex, seeming somewhat displeased yet full of interest.
“Hyung, move aside…”
“…Huh?”
