Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Arsenal meets Erza and her team
Gladion was now in a dilemma. He already was streching the 6 Pokemon limit rule by finding the loophole. Now that he had an eighth Pokemon, he had to send one of them back to the Gym in Moonwood Town.
'I can't send Mankey. I have to tame him and have him train with me.' Gladion thought
The decision weighed heavily on Gladion's mind.
He gathered his Pokémon in a small clearingnto explain to them his circumstances. Guy (Machoke), Collosus (Pupitar), Mystique (Milotic), Hydros (Squirtle), Nyx (Eevee), Zeus (Elekid), and Arsenal (Magby) sat in a semicircle, their eyes fixed on Gladion.
"I need to make a difficult decision," Gladion began, his voice steady but tinged with emotion. "Our team has limited space, and each of you needs the best opportunity to grow."
He explained the intricacies of Pokémon training and the carrying limit rule.
Guy, Collosus, and Mystique were his strongest Pokemon and thus his strongest protectors. If any strong wild Pokemon or a criminal attacked him, he would need them to ensure his safety.
Hydros was very close to evolving into Wartotle and had the potential to become a powerful Blastoise before they get all of their 8 badges.
Nyx was also going to evolve into Umbreon soon so he needed to carefully guide her.
Zeus was critical for upcoming gym battles. That left him with only Arsenal. He explained all of this to his Pokemon.
Arsenal listened intently, a mix of confusion and anticipation crossing his small, fiery face.
[But what about me?] Arsenal chirped, his flame flickering with anxiety.
Gladion knelt down, meeting the Magby's eyes. "You're going to have an incredible opportunity. My mother is a fire-type specialist with some of the most powerful fire Pokémon in the region. Charizard, Arcanine, Magcargo, Typhlosion, Houndoom, Flareon, Ninetales—they're not just Pokémon. They're masters of their craft."
The other Pokémon murmured among themselves. Zeus snickered, [Sounds like a boot camp.]
"Exactly," Gladion continued. "This isn't a punishment. This is a specialized training experience most Pokémon never get. You'll learn techniques that could take years to master elsewhere. My mother's team—they're very strong. They'll push you beyond your limits."
Arsenal's flame began to burn brighter, excitement replacing his initial uncertainty. The other Pokémon nodded, understanding the opportunity for what it was.
"So do you want to grasp this opportunity or maybe I should give this to Zeus? He might become a whole lot stronger too." Gladion asked with a smirk on his face.
[Nooooo, I want this!] Arsenal said jumping in panic.
Later that day, Gladion had transferred the Pokeball to his Dad's lab which had a Pokemon transfer machine from the Cereleun city's Pokemon centre.
Ben walked towards Erza "Hey Hun, Gladion had send his Magby after reaching the Pokemon carrying limit. He wanted you to train him. Do you want to see him?"
The Poké Ball landed softly on the kitchen counter, rolling slightly before coming to a stop. Erza, who had been preparing lunch for her fire-type Pokémon, picked it up with the excitement of a child on Christmas morning.
"A new fire-type!" she squealed to herself, her hands trembling slightly as she pressed the release button.
Arsenal materialized, blinking and confused. One moment he'd been with Gladion, the next—complete chaos.
"OH MY ARCEUS!" Erza's scream could have shattered windows. "YOU ARE THE MOST ADORABLE FIRE POKÉMON I HAVE EVER SEEN!"
Before Arsenal could even process what was happening, he was scooped up into a bone-crushing hug. The tiny Magby found himself pressed against Erza's cheek, his little flame flickering in pure shock. Erza have not even getting a little burned by his flames.
"SO TINY! SO PERFECT! SO FIRE-Y!" Erza continued, spinning in circles with Arsenal in her arms.
The Magby's internal dialogue was a mix of terror and confusion. [What kind of crazy human is this?! Help! HELP!]
Erza's fire Pokémon watched from various corners of the kitchen. Charizard rolled its eyes. Arcanine looked mildly concerned. Ninetales seemed to be holding back a laugh.
"YOU WILL BE THE MOST AMAZING FIRE POKÉMON EVER!" Erza declared, finally setting Arsenal down. But her excitement was far from over.
She immediately pulled out a massive training manual, custom-designed for fire-type Pokémon, that looked more like a military battle plan than a training guide. Arsenal's tiny flame began to sweat.
"TRAINING REGIMENT!" Erza announced, her voice echoing through the entire house. She began scribbling furiously on a whiteboard that seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
0500 hours: Morning Flame Intensity Workout
- 100 Ember Pushups
- 50 Fire Spin Jumping Jacks
- Extreme Heat Resistance Training
0600 hours: Breakfast
- Protein-enhanced Fire Seed Smoothie
- Magma Rock Mineral Supplements
0700 hours: Technical Fire Technique Drilling
- Precision Flame Control
- Angle and Trajectory Ember Targeting
- Advanced Smokescreen Meditation
The list continued, becoming increasingly intense with each passing moment. Arsenal's flame was now visibly trembling.
Ninetales leaned over, whispering to Arcanine, [The kid doesn't stand a chance.]
Arcanine nodded solemnly. [Erza doesn't do anything by halves.]
"SWEAT IS JUST LIQUID POTENTIAL!" Erza suddenly screamed, making Arsenal jump. She pulled out what appeared to be a miniature military-grade training vest designed specifically for fire-type Pokémon.
The vest was red, with flame patterns, and looked like it weighed more than Arsenal himself. Tiny weights were attached to various points, and it had a built-in temperature gauge that seemed to go well beyond normal Pokémon training parameters.
"This," Erza announced dramatically, "is your new best friend!"
Arsenal, in a moment of pure survival instinct, muttered under his breath, [Crazy woman...]
Thankfully, Erza was too caught up in her training excitement to hear. She was now drawing elaborate diagrams of flame trajectories, her eyes gleaming with the intensity of someone planning a military invasion.
Charizard, watching from the sidelines, looked at Arsenal with a mix of pity and amusement. 'Welcome to the family, kid,' its eyes seemed to say.
The other fire-type Pokémon began gathering around, each adding their own "helpful" suggestions to Erza's training plan. Flareon suggested underwater flame control. Typhlosion recommended extreme wind resistance training.
Arsenal's tiny flame was now so stressed it was practically doing its own panic dance.
"YOU WILL BE THE MOST DISCIPLINED, POWERFUL MAGBY IN HISTORY!" Erza declared, her voice a mix of maternal love and drill sergeant intensity.
And thus began Arsenal's unexpected boot camp—a training regime that would make military special forces look like a leisurely vacation.
The real terror began when the elite fire Pokémon decided to welcome Arsenal into their fold. What started as an introduction quickly transformed into what could only be described as a military-style indoctrination.
Typhlosion demonstrated a fire spin technique so complex it seemed to defy the laws of physics. Houndoom explained battle strategies with the intensity of a war general. Ninetales manipulated flames that seemed to have a consciousness of their own. Flareon showed explosive power control that made controlled demolition look like child's play.
Arsenal was simultaneously terrified and mesmerized. Henfelt a cold sweat break out as he felt their strengths. These weren't just like the Magmars or Charizards back at his home—these were elemental forces of nature. The sheer intensity of their abilities made his own training efforts feel like a children's playground game.
Charizard turned its gaze towards Arsenal, and in that moment, he was certain the Pokémon was judging his entire existence, his training methods, perhaps even his genetic lineage.
[I'm going to die,] Arsenal whispered to himself. [These monsters are going to spontaneously combust me for not being worthy.]
Ben who watched her wife's enthusiasm and her Pokemon scaring the shit out of Arsenal couldn't help but smile.
'It looks like Erza and her team love the little guy. He is in good hands.' Ben thought, not noticing the tiny tears dropping from Arsenal's eyes.
