Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Moonwalk!

[TL/N: Finally! Moonwalk!! I have been waiting for this for a long time, haha.]

In an open field, Ron sat with his Machamp and Persian, all eyes filled with anticipation as they focused on Machamp.

Ever since Machamp broke through to mid-Elite rank, Ron had been waiting—for Machamp's power to stabilize completely and for the day it would master Moonwalk (Geppo).

Compared to Shave (Soru), Moonwalk represented the true possibility of embedding Rokushiki (Six Powers) into the Pokémon world.

By using tremendous leg strength to step on the air, creating a strong propulsion force, one could walk through the sky as if climbing invisible stairs.

It sounded logical, but in practice, it was as plausible as trying to lift yourself into the sky by stepping on your own feet.

If Machamp could master Moonwalk, it would signify whether Rokushiki could truly thrive in this world.

Of course, if Machamp failed, Ron wouldn't be discouraged. He would wait for Machamp to grow stronger, perhaps to high-Elite rank or even Champion-level strength.

[TL/N: I think I translated the Pokemon ranks in a few of the previous chapters, I don't know which, as Junior, Intermediate, Advanced, and Champion. But to remain consistency in future chapters, I will be using low, mid, high Elite, and Champion rank.]

And if all else failed, there were still other techniques within Rokushiki. Even just mastering Shave was a significant boon to Machamp, with no downside to continued training.

After mentally preparing for the worst, Ron was eager to see what Machamp could achieve.

The technique for Moonwalk had long been ingrained in Machamp's mind.

Taking a deep breath to calm itself, Machamp leapt into the air and forcefully stomped on the air.

The countless hours of training paid off at that moment, as its powerful strength created the illusion of stepping on solid ground.

With an extra push, Machamp gained more height.

After its first successful step, Machamp quickly executed a second, then a third.

From the ground, Ron's eyes were filled with excitement.

Although Machamp's movements were still a bit clumsy, Ron could already confirm that Machamp had mastered Moonwalk.

From initial awkwardness to increasing proficiency, Machamp soon became immersed in the exhilarating sensation of soaring through the skies.

As a Fighting-type Pokémon, Machamp had once believed that flying was something it could only achieve with human tools. It never imagined that one day, it could rely solely on its own strength to ascend into the air.

By continuously stomping on the air to maintain altitude, Machamp began gauging how long it could sustain this technique before running out of stamina.

From the very beginning of their Rokushiki training, Ron had emphasized one critical point: knowing exactly how long they could sustain each technique.

Ron then tested them in various scenarios to ensure precise understanding of their capabilities.

This precaution wasn't baseless paranoia. It was to prevent a situation where, mid-battle, Machamp's stamina gave out, leaving it vulnerable and potentially unable to be healed in time.

Though Ron's concerns seemed excessive, they taught his Pokémon to manage their stamina effectively. They always ensured they had enough energy for battle while recognizing when to fall back for recovery.

In a one-on-one battle, this level of preparation might not seem necessary. But in scenarios where the odds were stacked against them, such as when Ron was previously pursued by enemies, this approach became invaluable.

After several minutes, Machamp descended from the sky.

Compared to Shave, Moonwalk consumed much more stamina.

According to Machamp's own estimates, it could maintain Moonwalk for about ten minutes at full exertion. Any longer, and the risk of "crashing" would increase significantly.

This was just a rough measure. Ron would help Machamp analyze its performance in different scenarios to gather the most accurate data.

More importantly, with Machamp's mastery of Moonwalk, Ron no longer needed to worry about Flying-type Pokémon. He was confident Machamp's surprise aerial attacks would astonish any opponent.

However, a sense of urgency crept into Ron's heart.

While Shave might not have drawn much attention from the Elite trainers or major factions, Moonwalk—and eventually the rest of Rokushiki—couldn't be ignored.

These factions didn't lack powerful Pokémon; what they lacked were the techniques to push their Pokémon to new heights.

If they discovered the secrets of Rokushiki, it could lead to mass training of Pokémon capable of mastering these techniques.

Even Team Rocket, the organization backing Ron, might interfere at that point.

Though Ron's mid-Elite-level strength was commendable, it was insignificant in the eyes of these powerful factions.

After a moment of thought, Ron resolved to forbid his Pokémon from using Moonwalk in front of others. If they had to, it would only be against opponents who wouldn't live to spread the tale.

At least until Ron himself grew strong enough, this rule was non-negotiable.

With the combination of Fighting Aura and Rokushiki, Ron believed the day of his complete evolution wasn't far off.

To further test Machamp's mastery of Moonwalk, Ron targeted mid-Elite-level Flying-type Pokémon.

In the sky, a Pidgeot flapped its wings lazily, only to see a Machamp bounding towards it, step by step, through the air.

Until Machamp's fist smashed into its face, the Pidgeot thought it must be dreaming. After all, how could a Machamp fly?

A moment later, the searing pain snapped it back to reality. Having lost the initiative, it quickly succumbed to Machamp's attacks, accepting the unbelievable truth.

When Ron healed and released the Pidgeot, it returned to its flock at full speed, warning them that Machamps could fly and must be treated cautiously.

Thanks to the leader's authority, the flock "accepted" the warning. Skeptics were quickly beaten into submission to affirm their belief.

Over time, the flock became convinced of the rumor, though they became the laughingstock of other Flying-type Pokémon.

Eventually, even the Pidgeot leader began to doubt its own experience, wondering if it had dreamed the whole ordeal. Still, it kept this doubt to itself to maintain its dignity, clinging to the belief that Machamps could indeed fly.

Elsewhere, Machamp's strength rose to Level 41, and it fully mastered Moonwalk. It then began training under Ron's guidance for mastering Finger Pistol.

To catch up, Persian threw itself into intense training as well.

Unlike Machamp and Bellossom, Persian, with its four-legged structure, had an inherent disadvantage when it came to techniques like Shave and Moonwalk.

The effort it took for Persian to keep pace with Machamp during Shave training was unimaginable. But to Persian, Moonwalk was just another challenge to overcome with enough determination.

Bellossom maintained its usual calm demeanor, staying grounded and focused like its Grass-typing.

Meanwhile, Nidorino and Ralts, lacking sufficient strength, continued leveling up and gradually improving their training quality. Once they could master a simplified version of Shave, they would officially be on the path to Rokushiki mastery.

As they ventured through the forest, everything seemed to be progressing for the better.

Ron believed that one day, he and his Pokémon would shine as brightly as the noonday sun, radiating their brilliance for all to see!
