Pokémon: Day Bringer

Chapter 33: Trainer from a different region

The next day arrives, as Haru was training again as Ash was taking note as Quilava was looking at Haru Houndoom, which was fighting Meowth, as Meowth was making some comeback.

Haru looked at Ash. "And that is how, you train ash".

Brock looked at him. "You know, you give the biggest whiplash, you went from saying Ash 'Weak, Worthless, and never is going to be a good trainer' to helping him".

Haru just looked at him. "Not the words I said in Goldenrod city Brock".

Haru glanced at Brock with a smirk. "What I actually said was that Ash needed to take things more seriously if he ever wanted to go beyond his current level. There's a difference."

Ash scratched the back of his head, looking sheepish. "Yeah, I mean, Haru's training methods are intense, but... he's right. I wasn't pushing myself or my Pokémon the way I should. Watching him train has been a real eye-opener."

Quilava, still watching Houndoom battle Meowth, growled softly, its flames flaring up in excitement. Haru noticed and smirked. "Your Quilava has the right idea, though. It's hungry to grow stronger. You just need to learn how to match that energy, Ash."

Brock folded his arms, giving Haru a knowing look. "Still, you don't go easy on him. It's a good thing Ash is as stubborn as his Pikachu."

Haru chuckled, folding his arms. "If I went easy on him, he'd never improve. The Johto League isn't going to hand out victories for effort. It's survival of the fittest out there."

Misty, who had been quietly observing, chimed in. "Well, I hate to admit it, but Haru's right. Ash, if you want to win, you need to stop winging it and start putting in the work."

Ash groaned, looking at his team. "Okay, okay, I get it! Training starts now, no excuses."

Haru nodded approvingly. "Good. Now, let's see if you can keep up."

The group continued watching as Haru's Houndoom unleashed a fierce Flamethrower at Meowth, who narrowly dodged and countered with a Shadow Ball. Despite the intensity, Haru's Pokémon displayed a level of control and coordination that left everyone impressed—and more determined than ever.

"is that a Swampert".

Haru turned his head to see a trainer, he has light green Haru, Weairng a shirt that had Purple in the middle and light red on the side he wears short pants, and had bad on his solder, next to him was Houndoom.

Harrison went to Haru Swampert, as he didn't expect to see his region Pokémon here. "A Swampert in Johto wow".

Haru looked at him and spoke. "Um do I know you".

Harrison made a cheapest grin. "Right sorry, my name is Harrison, I am from Hoenn, I came to Johto to take on the Johto league".

Ash Looked at him. "Hoenn, hey I recently saw the Hoenn league on Goldenrod TV, the fight between Steven and that guy Brendan was amazing".

Haru just looked at him. "But really, who the hell brings a God (legendary Pokémon) to a league, at least it was the champions League, and he did become the new Champion of Hoenn".

Ash looked at Haru. "Champions league?".

Haru looked at ash. "How dum can someone be, but anyway the Champion league happend when the winner of the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn etc, League winner gets to fight the elite four and then the Leagues champion to become the Champions of that region".

Harrison looked att Haru. "Where did you get your Swampert from".

Haru looked at him. "Here in Johto, by Professor Elm, he had sent to him as a resource project, so sense I was free and he wanted to see more, he gave Swampert to me, he went from a Mudkip to my powerful Swampert".

Harrison nodded, clearly impressed as he sized up Haru's Swampert. "That's quite the journey. And it looks like Swampert has really thrived under your care."

Haru smirked, crossing his arms. "Of course. Swampert's not just strong—it's one of my most reliable Pokémon. It's always ready to take on a challenge, whether it's training or battle."

Ash, still digesting the concept of the Champions League, turned to Harrison. "Wait, so are you here to take on the Johto League too?"

Harrison grinned. "That's the plan! I've been traveling through Johto, collecting badges. And it looks like I've run into some tough competition." He glanced back at Haru's team, noting their strength and discipline.

Misty, observing the interaction, tilted her head. "Hoenn's Pokémon are pretty unique. Seeing a Swampert here must feel like a little piece of home for you, huh?"

Harrison chuckled. "Yeah, it's nice to see. But seeing it here makes me even more curious about the competition I'm going to face." He turned back to Haru. "How many badges do you have?"

Haru shrugged casually. "Four so far. I'm heading to Cianwood City next for my fifth. And trust me, I don't plan on stopping there."

Harrison's grin widened. "Then maybe we'll meet on the battlefield at the league. But don't think I'll go easy on you just because we're both aiming for the same goal."

Haru smirked, his competitive spirit flaring. "I wouldn't want it any other way. But if we do battle, don't expect an easy win. Swampert and the rest of my team are ready for anything."

The two trainers locked eyes, a silent promise of a future battle sparking between them. Ash watched, feeling a mix of awe and determination. If he was going to keep up with trainers like Haru and Harrison, he'd need to push himself—and his Pokémon—even harder.

Haru looked at him. "So you already challenged Chuck".

Harrison noded. "Yeah, me and started had a great battle".

Haru looked at him. "So who is Tory starter".

Harrison then pulled out his Pokeball, as he summoned his Pokémon as out of the Pokeball came out a Blaziken.

Haru looked at him. "Nice, have you been able to make Blaziken use his Ability Blaze willing".

Harrison looked at and sighed. "We are still working on that".

Haru nodded thoughtfully, observing Harrison's Blaziken. "Blaze is a powerful ability when used correctly, but mastering it takes more than just training—it requires a deep bond and perfect timing in battle. Blaziken's already looking strong, though."

Harrison smiled at the compliment, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah, Blaziken's come a long way, but there's always room for improvement. That's why we're taking on the Johto League—to get stronger and learn as much as we can."

Ash stepped forward, his curiosity piqued. "A Blaziken, huh? That's awesome! I remember seeing one in the Hoenn League finals. It was incredible how it dominated the battlefield."

Harrison chuckled. "Blaziken's a fan favorite in Hoenn. But what about you, Ash? What's your starter Pokémon?"

Ash grinned, pointing to Pikachu, who was perched on his shoulder. "Pikachu's been with me since the beginning. It's not your traditional starter, but we've been through a lot together."

Pikachu gave a cheerful "Pika!" as if to affirm Ash's words.

Haru crossed his arms and smirked. "Unconventional starter or not, it's all about how you train and bond with your Pokémon. And from what I've seen, Pikachu's no pushover."

Harrison glanced between Haru and Ash, a competitive glint in his eye. "Maybe once I've gotten a few more battles in, we can have a proper match. Blaziken and I would love to see how we stack up against both of you."

Haru grinned confidently. "Anytime, Harrison. Just don't blame me if Swampert wipes the floor with your Blaziken."

Harrison laughed, the friendly rivalry setting the tone. "We'll see about that. But for now, I need to focus on my next challenge—Olivine City and the Steel-type gym."

Haru gave a nod of respect. "Good luck with that. Jasmine's no joke, but I'm sure you'll handle it."

With that, the trainers parted ways for the time being, each determined to grow stronger and prove themselves in the upcoming Johto League.

After a while, they went to Chuck Gym and Haro allows Ash to be the one to do the battle first, as he sat in the stand.

Haru looked at ash. "I hope he has learn".

In the area, it was announced it was going to be a Four and Four with Ash and Chuck to Battle, with that Ash being the only one able to switch out.

The battle between Ash and Chuck began with the referee announcing the rules: a four-on-four Pokémon battle, with Ash being allowed to switch his Pokémon at any time, while Chuck could not.

As the battle started, Ash sent out his Noctowl, while Chuck countered with Machamp.

Haru leaned back in his seat, watching closely. "This is where we'll see if Ash learned anything from Goldenrod. Noctowl's got the advantage, but that doesn't mean it'll be easy."

Ash called out, "Noctowl, use Hypnosis!"

Noctowl's eyes glowed as it sent hypnotic waves toward Machamp. Chuck, however, was quick to counter.

"Machamp, use Bullet Punch to disrupt it!"

Machamp dashed forward with incredible speed, its fists glowing, and landed a quick strike on Noctowl, breaking its concentration.

Haru smirked. "Classic Chuck. He won't let Ash play the long game easily."

Ash gritted his teeth, but quickly adjusted. "Noctowl, fly up and use Air Slash!"

Noctowl soared high, releasing sharp blades of air toward Machamp. The attack landed, forcing Machamp to take a step back, but it stood firm, showing its resilience.

Chuck grinned. "Not bad, kid, but you'll need more than that. Machamp, use Rock Slide!"

Machamp smashed the ground, summoning a barrage of rocks that flew toward Noctowl.

Ash reacted quickly. "Noctowl, dodge and use Extrasensory!"

Noctowl weaved through the falling rocks with grace and unleashed a psychic wave, hitting Machamp squarely. The Fighting-type staggered but still stood strong.

From the stands, Haru nodded in approval. "He's getting better at adapting mid-battle, but he needs to finish this quickly. Machamp's endurance is no joke."

Chuck called out, "Machamp, Dynamic Punch!"

Machamp's fist glowed with incredible power as it charged toward Noctowl.

Ash made a bold call. "Noctowl, use Reflect and then dive with Wing Attack!"

A shimmering barrier appeared in front of Noctowl, dampening the power of Dynamic Punch. The Normal/Flying-type then swooped down, its wings glowing, and landed a solid hit on Machamp, finally knocking it out.

The referee raised his flag. "Machamp is unable to battle! Noctowl wins!"

Ash breathed a sigh of relief as Noctowl returned to his side, but Chuck remained unfazed.

"Good work, kid, but we're just getting started. Go, Primeape!"

Haru crossed his arms. "Now let's see if Ash can keep this momentum going. Chuck's not going to make it easy."

Primeape cane out his Pokeball, as it looked at the Physic bird, as ash looked at Noctowl, as Noctowl went for wing attacks, Primeape jumper out of the way, as then Noctowel use Confusion, as it hit Primeape as then Primeape got up, as Ash told Ash told Noctowel get close and use Extrasensory as then seeing this Primeape use Ice Punch, to bad for Ash it was critical as it hit Noctowel and nocked the bird out.

Ash called back Noctowel. "Sorry Noctowel, will here we go Totadile".

Ash quickly recalled Noctowl, who had fought bravely, and sent out Totodile with determination. "Alright, Totodile! Let's do this!"

Chuck's Primeape stood ready, eyes narrowed, clearly not underestimating Ash's new opponent.

"Primeape, Ice Punch again!" Chuck ordered.

Ash saw the move coming, but he wasn't going to make the same mistake twice. "Totodile, dodge and use Water Gun!"

Totodile, agile as ever, ducked under Primeape's icy fist and unleashed a blast of water straight at Primeape, knocking it back a little.

Haru watched closely from the stands, silently observing Ash's choices. "Totodile has a good offensive edge, but Chuck's Primeape is aggressive. He needs to stay unpredictable."

Chuck called out with a grin, "Primeape, use Cross Chop!"

Primeape charged forward with immense speed, fists glowing. Ash's eyes widened as he recognized the attack. "Totodile, jump and use Bite!"

Totodile leapt into the air, clamping down with its sharp teeth just as Primeape swung its massive arm. The bite hit, but Primeape retaliated with a swift Cross Chop, causing Totodile to tumble backward. It looked winded but wasn't out yet.

Ash clenched his fists. "Totodile, use Water Gun again, from a distance!"

Totodile squirted a continuous stream of water, hitting Primeape square in the face. The Fighting-type staggered, momentarily blinded by the pressure.

Chuck frowned but didn't panic. "Primeape, use Ice Punch at close range!"

The attack was fast, but Ash anticipated it. "Totodile, dodge and use Quick Attack!"

Totodile zipped past Primeape, landing a fast strike and hitting Primeape hard from behind. With Primeape weakened from the earlier attacks, the quick hit knocked it out.

The referee raised his flag again. "Primeape is unable to battle! Totodile wins!"

Ash smiled, relieved but focused. "Nice work, Totodile! You did great!"

Chuck smirked but wasn't fazed. "Impressive, kid. But it's not over yet. Go, Poliwrath!"

Haru leaned forward slightly. "Poliwrath. This could be the turning point for Ash. Poliwrath is tricky—especially with its speed and Water/Ice-type moves."

Ash clenched his fist. "We've got this, Totodile!"

Then Something starts to happen, Totadile started to glow mid battle as everyone knew what they ment

As the battle raged on, something unexpected happened. Totodile began to glow with a soft blue light. The energy radiated from it, its body shaking as it absorbed the power coursing through it.

"Totodile?" Ash said, his voice filled with surprise. "What's going on?"

Haru, from the stands, watched with a raised eyebrow. "Totodile's evolving... this could change the whole dynamic of the battle."

Chuck's eyes widened. "An evolution in the middle of a battle? This should be interesting."

The glow intensified, enveloping Totodile completely, and with a burst of light, Totodile's form began to change. It grew larger, its body took on a more streamlined, muscular shape, and its sharp teeth grew even more pronounced. The light faded, revealing Croconaw, now standing confidently in place of the Totodile.

Ash was stunned. "Croconaw... you evolved!"

Croconaw let out a loud, fierce cry, its newfound power clear in the way it stood tall and ready for the battle.

Chuck raised an eyebrow but smiled, impressed. "A sudden evolution, huh? This makes things more exciting."

Ash nodded, determination in his eyes. "Alright, Croconaw, let's show them what we've got!"

With Croconaw now in the fray, the atmosphere around the battle shifted. The trainers, spectators, and even Chuck's Poliwrath seemed to recognize the difference. Ash's confidence grew as he called out, "Croconaw, use Water Gun!"

Croconaw released a strong, powerful stream of water that hit Poliwrath head-on, pushing it back slightly. The power difference was palpable—Croconaw's newfound strength was evident, and it seemed ready to prove it.

Chuck smirked, not willing to back down. "Poliwrath, use Hypnosis!"

Poliwrath's eyes began to swirl, trying to put Croconaw into a trance. But Ash was quick to react. "Croconaw, don't look at its eyes! Use Bite!"

Croconaw snapped its jaws, avoiding the hypnosis attack and charging forward, its teeth sinking into Poliwrath's side. The attack landed hard, and Poliwrath winced from the damage.

"Not bad," Chuck said, but he wasn't going to let this slide. "Poliwrath, use Surf!"

A massive wave of water shot out from Poliwrath, surging toward Croconaw. Ash's heart raced—he knew Croconaw needed to be quick. "Dodge it, Croconaw!"

But the wave was too strong and too fast. Croconaw was swept away by the force of the water, but with a quick recovery, it landed gracefully on its feet, shaking off the water.

"Alright, we need to end this! Croconaw, use Aqua Jet!" Ash commanded.

With incredible speed, Croconaw darted through the water, a powerful jet of water propelling it forward like a bullet. It slammed into Poliwrath with immense force, knocking it out cold.

The referee raised his flag again. "Poliwrath is unable to battle! Croconaw wins!"

Ash let out a sigh of relief, a huge grin spreading across his face. "We did it, Croconaw!" He returned his Pokémon to its Pokéball, proud of its hard work.

Chuck nodded, impressed. "You've got a strong Croconaw. I'll give you that."

Ash stood tall, confidence shining in his eyes. "Thanks, Chuck. I'm not done yet!"

Haru smiled from the stands, proud of his friend. "Looks like he's catching up, one evolution at a time."
