Pokémon: Day Bringer

Chapter 6: Start to great ness

As Haru and Mudkip moved deeper into the wilds, the forest around them began to thicken. The sunlight filtered through the canopy, casting a warm glow over the dirt path. The sound of rustling leaves and distant Pokémon cries filled the air, adding a serene rhythm to their journey.

Haru stopped by a clearing near a small stream. He glanced at Mudkip, who looked eager to explore. "Alright, this looks like a good spot," Haru said, placing his bag down. "Let's start with some basic training. Let's see how good your Water Gun is."

Mudkip nodded enthusiastically and positioned itself by the stream. Haru stepped back and pointed to a nearby rock. "Aim for that boulder. Give it your best shot."

Mudkip inhaled deeply and unleashed a steady stream of water. The jet hit the rock with a sharp splash, but the impact wasn't as strong as Haru expected. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Not bad, but we can make it stronger. Focus on your breath control. A steady inhale and then a sharp exhale, got it?"

Mudkip chirped and tried again, this time with a more concentrated stream. The water hit the boulder harder, leaving a noticeable wet mark. Haru grinned. "That's more like it. Good job, buddy."

Suddenly, the bushes rustled nearby, catching Haru's attention. He turned sharply, his hand instinctively moving to his belt where the Poké Ball rested. Out of the foliage emerged a wild Sentret, its large eyes fixed on Mudkip. It stood on its tail, chittering curiously.

Haru smirked. "Looks like we've got our first challenger, Mudkip. You ready?"

Mudkip hopped forward, taking a battle stance. The Sentret squeaked and dashed toward them, clearly ready for a fight.

"Alright, Mudkip, start with Tackle!" Haru commanded. Mudkip charged at the Sentret, its small body colliding with the wild Pokémon and sending it skidding back slightly.

The Sentret retaliated with a Quick Attack, zipping toward Mudkip with surprising speed. Mudkip took the hit but quickly recovered, shaking itself off.

"Good resilience, Mudkip!" Haru called. "Now hit it with Water Gun while it's close!"

Mudkip unleashed its Water Gun at point-blank range, catching the Sentret off guard and soaking it completely. The Sentret squeaked in surprise before stumbling backward. It hesitated for a moment, then retreated into the bushes, clearly outmatched.

Haru walked over and knelt beside Mudkip. "Great job, buddy. That was solid teamwork. You're already proving to be a strong partner."

Mudkip chirped happily, nuzzling Haru's hand. Haru smiled, feeling a sense of pride in their first victory.

As they packed up and prepared to move on, Haru glanced at the path ahead. "This is just the beginning, Mudkip. We've got a long journey ahead, but if we keep this up, we'll reach our goals in no time."

With that, Haru and Mudkip continued their journey, ready for whatever challenges awaited them in the Johto region.

Haru looked at Mudkip. "With Moxie you got a small boost from that battle, let's take care of a few more Pokémon, and maybe capture some".

Mudkip looked at, almost like saying that what type do Pokémon that he went, Haru looked at him and thought for a bit

Haru looked at Mudkip as he spoke. "Maybe a Elekid, why do I feel like it is going to be a female".

Haru and Mudkip wandered further into the forest, the sound of Pokémon cries surrounding them. Haru chuckled to himself as he glanced down at his small companion. "An Elekid, huh? If we're lucky, we might find one nearby. They like hanging around power sources, but sometimes you'll find them in areas like this."

Mudkip tilted its head, letting out a curious chirp.

Haru smirked and continued. "And yeah, for some reason, I just have a gut feeling the first Elekid we meet will be a female. Call it intuition."

The two ventured deeper into the woods, and soon enough, Haru noticed the faint sound of buzzing. He paused, narrowing his eyes as he scanned the area. "That's electricity. We're close."

The sound grew louder as they walked toward a small clearing. There, by a broken tree trunk, stood an Elekid, its arms crackling with sparks. Haru's eyes widened slightly. "Bingo. Mudkip, we've found her."

The Elekid turned to face them, her small but sturdy frame sparking with energy as she glared at Mudkip. Haru chuckled. "Told you. Female. And she doesn't look like she's backing down from a fight."

Mudkip hopped forward, ready for battle. Haru grinned and gave his first command. "Alright, Mudkip! Start with Tackle!"

Mudkip dashed toward Elekid, but she countered quickly, discharging a small Thunder Shock that forced Mudkip to sidestep. The electricity hit a nearby tree, singeing the bark.

"Careful, Mudkip! Don't get careless. Stay on your toes," Haru warned. "Use Mud-Slap to lower her accuracy!"

Mudkip scraped up some dirt and flung it at Elekid, the attack splattering across her face. She stumbled back, rubbing her eyes as her sparks flickered.

"Good! Now follow up with Water Gun!" Haru commanded.

Mudkip unleashed a powerful stream of water, hitting Elekid head-on and knocking her back a few feet. Despite the hit, Elekid stood her ground, growling with determination.

Elekid's fists crackled as she charged forward, landing a Quick Attack that sent Mudkip sliding back. Haru winced but quickly recovered. "Mudkip, you've got this! Shake it off and use Tackle again!"

Mudkip charged back, colliding with Elekid in a fierce clash. Elekid stumbled but didn't fall, her sparks dimming slightly. Haru smirked. "She's tough, but so are we."

Seeing the opportunity, Haru pulled out a Poké Ball. "Alright, let's try this! Go, Poké Ball!"

The ball flew through the air, hitting Elekid and encapsulating her in a red light. It dropped to the ground, shaking once... twice... three times...

Click!

Haru grinned as he picked up the ball. "Gotcha! Welcome to the team, Elekid."

Mudkip let out a cheerful cry, clearly excited to have a new teammate. Haru looked at the ball in his hand, then down at Mudkip. "We're building something great here. With a little training, Elekid and you will make a formidable pair."

With a renewed sense of purpose, Haru placed the Poké Ball on his belt and continued down the path, eager to see what other adventures awaited.

Haru sent out his new Pokémon, as she looked at him as lightning started to spark as she looked at Haru.

Haru just looked at her. "Hey waith, just trying to heal you, ok just stand steal".

She just went back, as Haru released this is going to be a bit of problem.

Elekid stared at Haru, sparks crackling from her body as if challenging his authority. She crossed her stubby arms, glaring at him with clear mistrust. Haru sighed, crouching slightly to meet her gaze.

"Alright, I get it," Haru said calmly. "You don't trust me yet. I mean, I did just catch you after a fight. But listen, I'm not here to boss you around or hurt you."

Elekid tilted her head, still wary but curious enough to keep listening.

"I just want to heal you so you don't overexert yourself," Haru continued, holding up a Potion. "See this? It'll help with the scrapes from our battle."

As Haru approached, Elekid's sparks intensified. She stepped back, her tiny fists charging up with electricity. Haru stopped in his tracks and sighed again.

"Alright, I see how it is," Haru muttered to himself. He glanced at Mudkip, who was watching the interaction closely. "Mudkip, I think this is where you come in."

Mudkip waddled over, letting out a friendly chirp. Elekid's sparks dimmed slightly as she looked at him, tilting her head. Mudkip hopped in place, chirping again, as if trying to communicate.

Haru watched the interaction, a small smile forming on his face. "Seems like Mudkip's better at breaking the ice than I am."

After a moment, Elekid's sparks faded, and she hesitantly stepped closer to Mudkip. Haru took the chance and crouched again, holding up the Potion.

"See? Mudkip trusts me, and so can you," Haru said softly. "Let me help."

Elekid stared at him for a long moment before finally nodding. Haru moved slowly, spraying the Potion over her bruises. She flinched slightly at first but quickly relaxed as the healing properties took effect.

"There we go," Haru said with a smile. "That wasn't so bad, was it?"

Elekid looked at him, her expression softening slightly. She still seemed cautious, but the sparks around her had completely disappeared.

Haru stood up, dusting off his hands. "Alright, Elekid. Let's start fresh. I'm Haru, your new trainer. I promise we'll work together and get stronger, but it'll take trust."

Elekid huffed, turning her head slightly, but there was a faint glint of respect in her eyes. Mudkip chirped happily, hopping up and down.

Haru chuckled. "Looks like we're making progress. Now, how about we find some food and rest up before the next challenge?"

Elekid glanced at him and gave a small nod, following as Haru and Mudkip led the way. Though the bond was still fragile, Haru could tell it was the start of something promising.

Haru then rember, he then pulled out from his pocked his Flip Flops phone, as he then called Whitney. "Wonder what she I will say when I say I got a Mudkip as my starter".

Haru took a deep breath as he pulled out his Flip Flops phone and dialed Whitney's number. It rang a few times before she picked up.

"Hello?" Whitney's voice sounded cheerful, but Haru could tell she was probably in the middle of something.

"Hey, Whitney, it's Haru," he said, trying to sound casual. "So, guess what? I got my starter Pokémon."

There was a pause on the other end of the line. Then, Whitney's voice came through, sounding a bit more curious. "Oh? What did you end up with? A Totodile? Cyndaquil?"

Haru grinned. "Not exactly. I ended up with a Mudkip."

There was a moment of stunned silence. Then Whitney let out a small laugh. "A Mudkip? Really? That's... interesting. I thought you might go with something more... powerful."

"Well, I wanted something different," Haru said, looking at Mudkip, who was now playing around in the grass. "Plus, I've always had a soft spot for Water-types."

Whitney's tone softened. "I mean, Mudkip's a great choice. It's a solid starter. But don't expect things to be easy. You know how tough the gym challenges can get."

Haru nodded. "Yeah, I know. But hey, we've got time. I've got plans, and Mudkip's got potential."

"Well, I'm glad to hear you're taking it seriously," Whitney said. "But you better make sure you train hard if you want to stand out in the Johto League. Everyone's going to be gunning for that Champion title, and you'll need all the strength you can get."

"I'm ready for it," Haru replied, a determined edge to his voice. "But I've got one other thing to work on first."

"Oh? What's that?" Whitney asked.

Haru smiled slightly, glancing at his new Pokémon. "I've got to make sure Mudkip and I get on the same page. Trust is key, right?"

"That's true," Whitney agreed. "Good luck with that. I'll be here if you need advice or anything. Just don't forget to enjoy your journey. Pokémon journeys are about growth—both for you and your Pokémon."

Haru chuckled softly. "Thanks, Whitney. I'll keep that in mind."

"Alright, I've got to go. Take care, Haru, and good luck out there."

"You too," Haru said before hanging up.

He looked back at Mudkip, who was now happily splashing in a nearby puddle. "Alright, little guy. Let's show them what we've got."

With a newfound sense of determination, Haru set off toward the next part of his journey, eager to prove both to himself and his Pokémon that this time, things would be different.

Haru then looked at Elekid as he opened his Pokédex. "Now let's see your moves, little Girl".

Haru looked at Elekid, his fingers hovering over the Pokédex. He had a feeling that this Pokémon was going to be a handful, but he was determined to figure out what she was capable of. With a quick swipe, he opened the device and pointed it toward her.

The screen lit up as the Pokédex processed the information.

Elekid – The Electric Pokémon

Type: Electric

Abilities: Static

Moves:

Thunder Shock

Quick Attack

Leer

Low Kick

Haru blinked at the list of moves, especially considering that Elekid was already showing some spark of attitude. He was impressed by her speed—Quick Attack was a nice move to have. But Thunder Shock would be her primary source of offense, for sure.

"Looks like you've got some good moves, but let's see if you can trust me enough to use them when needed," Haru muttered as he glanced at Elekid.

Elekid just glared back at him, a crackle of electricity dancing in her fur, clearly not ready to cooperate just yet.

Haru sighed, running a hand through his hair. "You're a little feisty, huh? I get it. I've dealt with worse. But if we're going to work together, you've got to listen. Just give me a chance."

The Elekid looked at him skeptically but didn't attack. Haru took that as a small victory, so he decided to test the waters a bit.

"Alright, let's try something simple," Haru said. "Elekid, use Thunder Shock, but just a little one. No need to overdo it."

Elekid squinted at him, clearly unimpressed, but after a tense moment, she gathered a little energy and shot a small bolt of lightning at the ground nearby. It wasn't much, but it was a start.

"Good! You've got potential," Haru encouraged. "We just need to build up trust. Let's keep practicing, and maybe next time, we can get a full-powered Thunder Shock."

Elekid made a huffing noise but sat down, her posture still defensive but less tense. Haru smiled, feeling like they might be able to get somewhere.

He looked back at Mudkip, who was playing with the surrounding grass and dirt. "Alright, Mudkip, you ready to keep moving forward?"

Mudkip gave a happy little cry and waddled over to Haru's side, signaling that he was indeed ready.

With his new team in tow—one feisty Elekid and one eager Mudkip—Haru began to walk forward, ready for whatever challenges the journey would throw at him next.
