Pokemon : I Am A Breeder/Champion

Chapter 59: 55: Who Can Resist A Shiny Lurantis?(Part 1)

After Evan said this to a few assistants, he took the orders and carefully counted them.

"Make sure you have enough materials here. If it's not enough, you'll have to buy more."

While he was busy, Sophia and Violet emerged from the backyard.

"Evan," Violet greeted.

"Senior Evan," Sophia added as they approached him one after the other.

When Evan had gone back to the room earlier to tidy things up, they didn't disturb him. Instead, they played in the backyard. Now, hearing their voices, Evan looked up.

"What's wrong?" he asked, continuing to count the orders while starting a conversation.

"I'll be leaving some Pokémon here in a few days. Can you help me train them?" Violet got straight to the point without hesitation.

Evan paused, surprised by the request, and looked up at her.

"Are you already preparing for a second team?" he asked directly.

Violet nodded.

"Yes, the second team. My first team is complete, so it's time to start developing a secondary roster. I'll leave them here with you to train."

Though the second team wasn't fully ready yet, Violet was confident it wouldn't take long to assemble. Her main focus was still on her current team, so she didn't plan to dedicate much time to the second team for now. However, leaving them with Evan seemed like a good plan. Once he had taken care of the training, she could visit occasionally to bond with her new Pokémon.

Hearing this, Evan nodded in agreement.

"That's no problem. If it works for you, send them over. I'll make sure the energy cubes are prepared separately."

Evan didn't hesitate to accept the offer—it was good business. But he couldn't help being curious about Violet's second team. Would it still be focused on Steel types? Or was she exploring a different specialty? After all, there weren't many stylish Steel-type Pokémon left to work with.

Once the arrangement was settled, Violet prepared to leave.

"Thank you, Senior Evan. I'll return in a while to check in."

"Sounds good," Evan replied. "I'll keep busy here, so I won't see you off."

With that, he lowered his head and resumed counting the materials. Seeing this, Violet and Sophia left together, leaving the breeding house quiet once more. Only the cheerful sounds of children playing in the backyard remained.

Evan quickly realized that the materials on hand weren't enough. He picked up his phone and placed an order with the suppliers to deliver fresh berries and fruits that afternoon. Additionally, he purchased various items from a Items dealer, including evolutionary stones and a Dawn Stone.

These purchases were in preparation for evolving his Kirlia into Gallade. He also planned ahead for a Gardevoir evolution. Once he finished placing orders and transferring payments, Evan sighed in relief.

Despite his breeding house being relatively new, it had already proven profitable. But as he considered the idea of raising a pseudo-legendary Pokémon, he quickly shook his head.

"No, no! I can't get too ambitious," he muttered. "Raising a pseudo-legendary costs a fortune, not to mention the intensive training required."

Snapping himself out of those daydreams, Evan refocused on his work. He began making samples of energy cubes to register patents for them. The process was efficient, and within a couple of hours, he had created an impressive assortment of samples.

After neatly packing everything, Evan took Gallade along and headed to the Breeders Association. Familiar with the procedure, he quickly approached the right people to help him with patent registration. The process moved swiftly, and Evan felt a sense of accomplishment as he completed the task.

It was confirmed that Evan's formula was accurate. After testing the samples, the patent was successfully entered into the computer system.

This department was usually quite idle, with not many people coming in to register patents. However, when Evan arrived, the staff were busier than usual. Once the registration process was complete, and the patent certificate was handed over to Evan, one of the staff members inquired.

"Mr. Evan, would you like to authorize your patent certificate?"

"If you're interested, I can connect you with some companies that might want to collaborate."

Evan shook his head without hesitation.

"No need. I already have a company I'm working with."

He knew exactly what the staff member was implying—hoping to earn a commission by introducing Evan to other energy cube companies. But Evan had no intention of granting additional authorization for his patent.

Hearing this, the staff member's expression turned to one of mild disappointment.

"Understood. My apologies for the suggestion."

Evan smiled politely, showing he wasn't offended. Once he had his certificate, he turned and left.

With that task completed, the next steps were much simpler. The following day, Evan planned to start teaching his assistants how to make the patented energy cubes. His goal was to help them advance as breeders.

Among the three assistants, only Isla was an intermediate breeder, while the other two were still at the junior level. Evan intended to train all three to reach at least the intermediate level. As for Isla, her potential seemed promising—she might even advance to a high-level breeder. If things became too hectic, Evan considered hiring additional assistants, possibly recruiting talented breeders.

When Evan returned to the breeding house, the fruits he had ordered at noon were delivered. Isla and the others were already counting the inventory, and Evan joined in to help. Once everything was sorted, Evan released his Gallade and handed it a Dawn Stone.

"Take this to your brother," he instructed.

"Help him evolve into Gallade as well—don't let him become Gardevoir. That would be...awkward."

Evan couldn't help but laugh at the thought.

"It's strange enough with some Trainers deliberately evolving male Ralts into Gardevoir. Then you end up with a telepathic Pokémon that sounds like an old uncle. That's a bit much to handle," he added with a grin.

Gallade nodded, recognizing the significance of the stone. It knew this item had been essential for its own evolution. Without it, it would have evolved into Gardevoir as well. With a quick Teleport, Gallade vanished to find its brother.

Watching Gallade leave, Evan sighed wistfully.

"If only Gallade could have a female form. Female knights would be awesome," he mused. "Oh well."

The next day, Evan began teaching the three assistants the process of crafting energy cubes. Meanwhile, Gardevoir was busy training its siblings, helping them grow stronger. Under its guidance, the Pokémon were steadily improving.

Over the following days, Evan focused on fulfilling the incoming orders. Children from the orphanage often came by to help, though they eventually wandered off to the backyard to watch Pikachu and the other Pokémon train. Their playful enthusiasm sometimes caused confusion, with their random instructions leaving Pikachu visibly nervous.

After several days of hard work, Evan finally completed all the orders. Customers arrived one after another to collect their energy cubes. When their Pokémon tried the cubes, they were met with overwhelming approval.

The customers left satisfied, impressed by how much their Pokémon enjoyed the cubes. Evan's efforts had paid off, solidifying his reputation as a skilled breeder.

The next step was to evaluate the results after a month. If the effects of the energy cubes were noticeable, Evan expected this group of customers to become repeat buyers.

After finishing the last order and sending off the final customer, the sun began to set. Evan glanced at the time and decided it was a good moment to take a break.

Turning to his three assistants, he said, "Let's go eat. We're taking a day off tomorrow. I'll take you out to catch Pokémon then. Be sure to prepare your Poké Balls."

Hearing this, the three assistants lit up with excitement.

"Okay, Boss Evan!"

"Got it!"

The idea of catching their own Pokémon thrilled them. They had been looking forward to this opportunity for a long time.

After wrapping up work for the day, the assistants headed to the orphanage for dinner and then went home to prepare. They made sure to have at least three Poké Balls each, eager to make the most of their chance to catch their first Pokémon.

The next morning, Evan got up early to tidy up the breeding house. He recalled Gardevoir and Gallade into their Poké Balls and brought Pikachu along with Pidgeot for the trip. The remaining Kirlia stayed behind to help manage the breeding house, along with the children from the orphanage. Evan left clear instructions for them:

Inform any guests that he was out and ask them to return later. Deliver the energy cubes to the warehouse at noon for the wild Pokémon, especially with the increased population of Beedrill and Butterfree.

After finalizing the arrangements, Evan set off with the three assistants.

At the bus station, Isla couldn't hold back her curiosity.

"Brother Evan, where are we going? Where are we catching Pokémon?"

Evan smiled and pointed toward the highway.

"We'll take the bus through that mountainous area and head into the wild. That's where we'll find plenty of Pokémon."

He explained further.

"While there are Pokémon near the orphanage, they're mostly common ones like Beedrill or Diglett. For this trip, we're looking for more variety and potential."

Evan also had his own agenda. In addition to helping the assistants catch their Pokémon, he wanted to find some Grass-type Pokémon for the breeding house. They would be invaluable for taking care of the orchard's fruit trees, ensuring better growth and healthier yields.

"As for the Pokémon you three will catch," Evan continued, "that depends on your preferences. When you find one you like, go for it."

Hearing this, the three assistants exchanged excited looks, their eyes lighting up with anticipation.

An outdoor adventure to catch Pokémon was thrilling enough on its own, but doing it in the wild added a sense of excitement and challenge. While they might have hesitated to explore the wild alone, they felt confident with Evan leading the way.

They knew exactly how strong he was—and that assurance made all the difference.

With Gardevoir and Gallade by their side, Evan and his group had little to fear from wild Pokémon. These two powerful Pokémon could easily handle any threats in the forest, which only added to the excitement of the three assistants.

Evan had been chatting non-stop with the group, keeping the atmosphere lively. Soon, the bus arrived—a city-bound bus that also happened to pass through the forested area they were heading to. Without delay, Evan and the three assistants boarded the nearly empty vehicle and found seats.

After a 30-minute ride, they arrived at their destination: a vast forest with no buildings in sight apart from the road. This was exactly where Evan had planned to go.

The three women stepped off the bus, their eyes wide with curiosity as they took in the natural surroundings. Evan pulled out his phone, checked the map, and pointed toward a path into the woods.

"We'll go this way," he explained.

"Not far from here, there's a plain where Grass-type Pokémon are known to gather. You can choose which ones you like and try to tame them."

As he spoke, Evan released Gallade and Pikachu.

"Gallade, stay on guard. Pikachu, clear the path."

The group began their trek into the forest, with Evan leading the way. The assistants stayed close, not daring to stray too far; they understood how dangerous the forest could be without Pokémon to protect them.

Not long into their journey, they encountered a Raticate foraging nearby. Evan gestured toward it and addressed Pikachu.

"Pikachu, this one's yours. Show me the results of your recent training. Remember, this trip isn't for fun—you'll be fighting all the way through."

Pikachu turned to Evan and chirped indignantly.

"Pika pika!"

Its expression clearly said, Here we go again—my trainer always has something up his sleeve.

The three assistants burst out laughing at Pikachu's reaction, finding its demeanor both funny and endearing.

But Pikachu didn't hesitate for long. It launched into a Quick Attack, dashing straight at Raticate before it could react. The sudden tackle knocked Raticate off balance and sent it tumbling.

Angry, the Raticate got back up and retaliated with its own Quick Attack, charging toward Pikachu. However, Pikachu's tail began to glow—an Iron Tail struck Raticate with force, sending it flying again.

Evan watched the battle unfold with satisfaction. Pikachu's special training had clearly paid off, as it executed the Iron Tail flawlessly. With another solid hit, Raticate was defeated, collapsing in exhaustion.

"Not bad," Evan praised. "You're qualified. Let's keep moving."

Before continuing, Evan paused by the fainted Raticate. He crouched down, took a healing spray from his bag, and applied it to the injured Pokémon. Then, he placed a few low-level energy cubes beside it as a peace offering.

The assistants watched this with curiosity.

"Brother Evan," Isla asked, tilting her head. "Why leave the energy cubes? Is there a reason for that?"

Evan smiled, anticipating the question.

"In the wild, it's common for Trainers to leave food or berries after a battle. Think of it as a way of paying respect—or a fee, if you like.

"If you fight a wild Pokémon, beat it, and just walk away, it'll feel angry or resentful. That kind of hostility can lead to dangerous encounters for other people down the line. But if you leave some food behind, the Pokémon feels compensated. It's less likely to view humans as enemies next time."

The three nodded, impressed by the explanation. It was clear that Evan wasn't just a skilled breeder and Trainer—he also understood the importance of maintaining harmony with wild Pokémon.

With that, the group continued their journey, deeper into the forest, in search of Grass-type Pokémon and potential partners for the assistants.
