Hearing her words, Kai grew curious about what kind of Pokémon Giselle would send out.

Without wasting time, Giselle, brimming with confidence, silently tossed a Poké Ball into the air.

A flash of blue light revealed a Pokémon resembling a circus clown doll, stepping gracefully onto the battlefield.

Gasps erupted from the audience. Seeing its unique and amusing appearance, Kai immediately recognized it.'What is Ash's stepdad doing here?'

"It's a Mr. Mime!"

Even in the Kanto region, Mr. Mime is a rare Pokémon. Yet, Giselle's Mr. Mime was even more extraordinary it shimmered with a green hue, marking it as a Shiny Pokémon, often referred to as a "Flash Pokémon."

"Wow! Incredible!" the host exclaimed with excitement. "Mr. Mime is already a rare sight, but a Shiny Mr. Mime? This is a first for me!"

As a humanoid Pokémon, Mr. Mime has disproportionately large hands, each finger tipped with suction cup-like structures, enhancing its ability to mime.

Many scholars speculate that its oversized hands developed due to its proficiency in miming performances.

Beyond battles, Mr. Mime is also known as a helpful companion in household chores, making it particularly popular among homemakers.

However, it was unclear whether this dazzling Shiny Pokémon was caught by Giselle herself or provided by her affluent family.

Regardless, the appearance of a Shiny Pokémon paired with Giselle's prominent reputation had already created a buzz.

This match promised to draw a massive audience, even though it was merely a qualifier!

Outside the arena, Brock observed the commotion and smiled. Standing beside him, Chloe asked, "Is Mr. Mime a very powerful Pokémon?"

Brock nodded, his expression serious. "Its strength depends on the trainer. But with Psychic and Fairy types, Mr. Mime has unique advantages. These types are harder to counter compared to most Pokémon."

Then he chuckled. "You know, before we reached Indigo Plateau, we actually met Mr. Mime Ash's mother, Delia, who named it Mimey."

Chloe blinked in surprise. "Delia?"

Brock clasped his hands dreamily and sighed. "Ash's mom. She's so kind and elegant, hot—*cough* hmm... I mean beautiful too!"

Chloe rolled her eyes, accustomed to Brock's antics. Refocusing, she asked, "Are Shiny Pokémon stronger than normal ones?"

"Well…" Brock hesitated, pondering. "Shiny Pokémon don't have any special stat advantages. They're unique for their colour, but their abilities are the same as their regular counterparts."

"I see…" Chloe murmured, holding a plush doll Kai had bought her the night before. Concern flickered in her eyes as she glanced at the battlefield.

Brock noticed and chuckled. "Don't worry too much," he reassured. "We all know Kai's strength. A rare or Shiny Pokémon might be impressive, but it doesn't guarantee victory!"

Back in the arena, Kai had recalled his Blastoise after some thought. He then released Gardevoir.

"Let's settle this with a balanced battle!" Kai declared.

"Oh!" the host exclaimed. "It's a duel between two psychic types! This is bound to be fascinating. Who will emerge victorious? Let's wait and see!"

Meanwhile, behind the scenes at Indigo Plateau, the roaring cheers of the crowd echoed through the stadium.

President Charles Goodshow of the Pokémon League made his way to the venue's control centre.

Inside, a flurry of activity surrounded him as staff members monitored the broadcast. Upon noticing him, John, the bearded director wearing black-rimmed glasses, quickly stood to greet him.

"President Goodshow! What brings you here?"

Goodshow waved him off with a smile. "Relax, John. I'm just here to take a casual look."

His attention shifted to the large screen displaying the battle between Kai and Giselle on the Rock Field. Matches on the other fields were relegated to smaller screens.

"How are the ratings today?" Goodshow asked.

John lit up. "The other matches are performing well, but the Rock Field battle is skyrocketing! The real-time ratings have just broken the 20% mark."

"Really? That's usually only seen in the main rounds."

Goodshow's eyebrows rose in surprise as he turned to the screen, watching intently.

On the battlefield, Gardevoir and Shiny Mr. Mime exchanged Psychic moves. Their similar typings negated any significant advantage, creating a balanced but intense contest.

While the match seemed evenly matched to most, Goodshow's experienced eye noticed Gardevoir steadily gaining the upper hand.

"Remarkable," he murmured. "I hear that contestant has remained undefeated so far. He's certainly someone to watch closely."

"Absolutely!" John agreed enthusiastically. "This battle has everything an iconic trainer, a Shiny Pokémon, and immense skill on both sides. The ratings are already the highest for any qualifier we've ever seen!"

"This is excellent news for both the League and the players," Goodshow said with a satisfied nod.
