Ch 10
Chapter 10
The start of the 16th day in the world changed by the system.
However, not many people have taken the importance of this day very seriously.
After all, it’s not uncommon to have to fight monsters and other humans to survive each day.
At this point, it’s been quite a while, and all the food outlets, such as grocery stores and convenience stores, have been taken over or looted by groups of people.
So, naturally, people’s primary concern was food.
“Ugh. People’s personalities can be so mean. If I leave even one can of tuna, I’ll have to ask where it went, damn it…”
“If you have time to sulk, help clean up around here. It’ll make my job easier.”
“Yes, leave it to me.”
Well, there is no such rule as starving to death, after all.
Chapter #1 update introduces various species of natural vegetation that begin to grow throughout the region.
Some of them are edible enough to be used as food, while others leave behind seeds that can be used to grow self-sustaining crops.
However, this doesn’t mean that sourcing natural vegetation is easy.
Not only is it impossible to know what they look like since they were native to a different dimension than Earth, but to the untrained eye, they’re just rocks or clumps of grass.
“Well, we’re done with the cleanup, and I’ll continue the perimeter security, but I’ll leave the rest of the work to the seniors.”
“Got it, young ‘uns.”
“Hehe, they’re all reliable.”
For this reason, most roles that involve gathering natural vegetation are categorized as subsistence classes rather than combat classes.
Farmers and foragers who have skills in the ‘gathering’ or ‘detection’ family by default.
While combat players would be mopping up monsters and keeping an eye on their surroundings, foragers would be out and about, gathering whatever natural vegetation they could find.
But was it because they were simply living the same routine over and over again?
For a moment, people forgot that “natural vegetation” wasn’t the only important part of the Chapter #1 update.
*Sssssssss.*
A movement that evades the gaze of combatants, who are standing on guard around them, with their senses tuned to their surroundings.
“Shhhhh- shhhhh-”
The creature sticks out its tongue in anticipation, instinctively moving toward the weakest of the players present.
Several people with hoes, frantically dug into the ground.
As far as it’s concerned, it’s a fresh meal, so it doesn’t hesitate to swoop in with its two sharp razor-like teeth.
“Kuh, keuhuh… Eup-eup!”
An attack that came out of nowhere.
The player was about to scream out in agony, but unfortunately, he couldn’t.
It started with his mouth and quickly enveloped his entire body.
Unable to move a muscle, he somehow flailed about, but it didn’t last long.
*Crun- Crunch!*
A terrifying bone-crunching sound emanated from inside the enveloped body.
The entity that had taken a life in the blink of an eye opened its gigantic mouth and gulped down the ‘food’ that had been made easy for it to eat.
“Kishishishish!”
The laughter that comes from a satisfied heart.
However, it’s hard to imagine a being that has been trapped for so long and starving to be satisfied with a single individual haul.
*Woosh!* *Woosh!*
*Thump, Thump, Thud.*
*Kkulggeok*
A quiet yet intense mealtime that takes place continuously.
“Uh, huh, where did Lee go?”
“What the f-. Wh-what the hell is going on?”
“Hey, guys, come quick, something’s wrong with Lee!”
“What’s going on?”
Panicked shouts from the players, who had only recently realized that the others were disappearing, as one by one the combatants gathered around.
“Kishishish!”
But it’s exactly what the creature was hoping for.
Unlike its initial famished state, it was now well-fed.
Having satisfied its hunger, the being no longer felt the need to hide itself.
[Field Boss Monster “Ikegak Giant Serpent (★★+)” has appeared].
[Ikegak Giant Serpent Lv. 14 (★★+)] – Field Boss Monster
“Hey, what’s that?”
“C-Crazy–.”
“That’s… the thing in the belly, isn’t it L-Lee?”
“Hey, run away!”
The field boss, Ikegak Giant Serpent, puffs out his belly as if to show off the human it had eaten.
“Kishkishkish!”
It seemed to have been starving for 10 days and needed to satisfy its hunger immediately.
It chased down and devoured the fleeing players without missing a beat.
* * * * *
Day 16.
Or more accurately, 10 days after the update to Chapter #1.
The shackles binding the field bosses were broken, and the creatures that had been starving in their designated areas began to attack the humans like escaped caged animals.
“R-Run away!”
“You damned operator. How the hell does this balance thing work and shit like this pops out!”
“What a fucking game!”
Up until now, players have been able to overwhelm monsters by using class-specific talents and grouping together.
But with the advent of Field Bosses, all of that is for naught.
An overwhelming difference in power.
Monsters that were predators based solely on individual strength were now intelligently hunting players.
Of course, that doesn’t mean the players are just dying without being able to fight back.
“Come on, Jongsu, we’re going to need a sturdy one this time.”
“Let’s make sure I get my share.”
“You’ll have to take care of that.”
Ko Dalsu, a Judge of the People who has reached level 15 through the rewards of condemning the wicked, and Park Jong-soo, a Berserk Barbarian Warrior with a 3-Star unique class who has reached level 12 through the scraps from battles.
It’s no exaggeration to say that each of them is a top-ten ranked player on the Korean server in their own right.
However, in the case of Ko Dalsu, he gained a skill that came with reaching level 15, and other class specializations were added by meeting various other conditions.
“Let’s go!”
*Clang, Clang!* *Boom, Boom!*
Following Jongsu’s crazy attacks with axes in both hands, Dalsu’s three-star baton strike.
It’s all done in a way that, if anyone were to see it, would seem to lack any common decency.
But it’s not for nothing that they are called thugs for their level and star class.
They’re covered in blood and gasping for air as they celebrate their victory.
And they weren’t the only group that could claim victory over a Field Boss,
“What kind of skin does he have? A K-2 rifle won’t work on him!”
“Lead him into the minefield!”
“Get all the M60 gunners ready! When he gets to the target, blast him to smithereens!”
“Corporal Yoon Hyun-sung. Don’t we have a tank or something?
“Fuck tanks in this cramped unit. If you don’t want to get your ass kicked, you’re going to have to do better than that, you bastard!”
It’s an army with some of the most powerful modern weaponry available to South Korea.
Of course, each troop had its own specialties and approaches to dealing with them, but the firepower and defense of modern weapons were not for naught, and the army’s losses to Field Bosses were generally minimal, with some troops even succeeding in killing them.
【Neatfreak: Urgent news! Beware of the released field bosses, they are not ordinary monsters! P.S. Stay together as much as possible, if you scatter, you die! – Views 13,2——.
– The monsters up to this point have actually posed some threat to us, but they’ve mostly been coin and experience points, and with the exception of the occasional mutant, we’ve been able to take them down with enough coordination. Field bosses are a different story. Most of these guys are capable of intelligent thought that surpasses most humans, and some of them use ranged magic or lead hordes. I’ve even heard of one that captures people and uses them as guinea pigs.
First of all, I’d like to share with you the approximate locations of the field bosses and villains, since I didn’t get all this information by myself, but with the support and help of many of you.
Please, don’t die and let’s get through this shitty world and make sure we survive!

——.
And the final icing on the cake is the information on the community boards.
From exchanges about the approximate location of field bosses to the game’s system that rewards players with a certain amount of experience for meeting certain goals, even if they don’t hunt.
Thanks to this, there were many good guides among the information posted, and the unique nicknames of some of the players who flew and crawled were even named.
【KikiKirot: There are no field bosses in Sillim-dong!】
【Green Bean: We have finished clearing out the field bosses that were located in our neighborhood. If you need food and help, please feel free to come to the shelter at Yeouido Station.】
【Many and many: Is this a true story of people’s class? Is this the end of the world or just the beginning of the rebuilding of Korea? My heart is filled with pride.】
News about the shelter and treatment of field bosses on community boards.
The players who were hiding in the midst of the villains who were making fun of the field bosses burst into cheers.
But could they have imagined it?
– Hehehe. This is why humans are so fun to play with.
The end of the world in a nutshell.
– Wriggle and squirm a little more, livestock, for that’s what I, Wriggle, do, and that’s what the Transcendents enjoy! Kill Kill Kill Kill!
The truth is that this is only the beginning.
* * * * *
A look at the modern world outside the near-apocalyptic situation, as the field bosses are busy unshackling themselves.
*Clatter-clatter-clatter-clatter-.*
*bang-bang-bang*
Sung-hyuk is sawing and hammering, sweating profusely in his own private space in the middle of the forest.
*Buzzz!* *Bzzzzz!*
*Weing-!* *Buzzzzz!*
And beside him, a swarm of bees carrying nectar from the flowers that had been collected.
Everyone is working so hard that it’s literally a case of “those who don’t work don’t eat”.
That was the biggest characteristic of these bees,
This is one of the reasons why he fell in love with bees.
[Big success in building the hive! The bee guardian’s sigil is engraved on the new hive].
[Some of the items you used as ingredients had a keyword engraved on them. Instead of disappearing, the keyword now gives the item an additional bonus effect].
[A Guardian’s Oversized Gilite Plywood Beehive (★★+) has been crafted].
“Nice!”
This is what happens when no one is lazy and you put in the work.
Could it be the combined effect of the trinity of sincerity, materials, and effort?
The finished hive was a 2-Star+, the highest-ranked beehive Sung-hyuk had ever built.
