Quirkless Hero

Chapter 127: Chapter 127: U.A. High - Life in the Support Course

"Wow! Midoriya, is this your dorm?"

After setting up their own rooms, the students of Class 1-A visited the Support Course dorms as a group to check on Midoriya.

"Yeah. The style here is probably a lot different from yours since it's for the Support Course," Midoriya explained.

"Yeah… It really is,"

Takeyama Urei remarked as she curiously glanced around. The dorm interiors had a distinct mechanical theme, and in the background… there was the constant clinking of tools.

"What's that noise?" Ochako asked, puzzled.

Midoriya smiled and answered,

"It's probably some of the other students working on their inventions."

"What?! Isn't that dangerous?"

Ochako's shock was shared by the rest of Class 1-A, who were well aware of how extreme the Support Course students could be.

"Not at all. Everyone's very careful…"

*BOOM!*

Before Midoriya could finish his sentence, a loud explosion echoed through the dorm.

"Well… There are occasional technical mishaps, but generally, everyone's really cautious," he quickly corrected with a sheepish smile.

Just then, a soot-covered Hatsume Mei stumbled into Midoriya's room, coughing from the smoke.

"Midoriya-chan! Can I borrow your toolbox? My room just exploded…"

Hatsume looked at the group of stunned Class 1-A students staring at her and scratched her head awkwardly.

"It's only the third time. Third time's the charm, right? Next time, there definitely won't be an explosion. You've got to trust me, Midoriya-chan."

"…"

The members of Class 1-A were left speechless, unable to utter a word. Midoriya Izuku bent down, retrieved a toolbox from under his bed, and handed it to Hatsume Mei with a smile.

"Next time, be more careful. Don't blow the whole house up."

"Don't worry. At most, I'll only blow up the room, nothing that serious."

Hatsume Mei, clutching the toolbox, scurried back to her room. Her invention wasn't finished yet, and now was the time to press on.

"Um... Midoriya, how about asking the teachers to let you move to our dorm?"

Takeyama Urei brought it up cautiously. She was genuinely worried that the building Midoriya Izuku lived in might collapse one day from an explosion.

"It's fine. The support course students are very careful. Nothing major will happen."

Midoriya Izuku smiled as usual. He was already used to situations like this, and his room here was perfect for his research.

"Midoriya, what's this little bottle of yours?"

Some members of Class 1-A had come to visit the support course dorms. While some were hanging out in Midoriya's room, Mineta Minoru was snooping around with less-than-honorable intentions, hoping to find a notebook or something similar.

To his disappointment, there was no notebook to be found. Instead, he discovered a sealed bottle in a cabinet. Curious, he picked it up and noticed the word "DANGER" written in large letters on it.

"Oh, that? It's a new thing I'm working on. It'll create a big reaction."

"A big reaction!?"

Hearing those words, Mineta Minoru's mind immediately wandered to inappropriate thoughts. Drooling, he said with excitement:

"Could it be... that kind of thing... the kind that gives people an unspeakable and amazing experience?"

As he spoke, Mineta's hand reached for the bottle's stopper, attempting to pull it out.

"Uh... it's bomb material."

Not understanding what Mineta was implying, Midoriya Izuku kindly explained.

The cheerful expressions on everyone's faces froze instantly. At the same time, Mineta's hand froze as well.

"M-Midoriya... you're not joking, right?!"

"Why would I joke about that?"

Midoriya Izuku's calm smile made Mineta's eyes fill with red veins. His hand trembled uncontrollably as he realized he had already loosened the stopper a little.

Faint yellow smoke began to seep out of the bottle. As it swirled around Mineta, the atmosphere grew suffocating, like the air of a living nightmare.

"Mineta! Hold on! You're a hero!!"

Iida Tenya shouted, throwing the door open and directing the panicked classmates to evacuate as quickly as possible. The bomb was about to explode!

"Wait! Did you actually open it?"

Midoriya Izuku looked surprised. Before he could say more, Uraraka Ochako slapped him, activating her "Zero Gravity" Quirk. Without hesitation, Takeyama Urei hoisted him onto her shoulder and bolted out of the room.

"You... you guys!!"

"Mineta, stay strong! A hero must face their mistakes head-on!!"

Iida Tenya declared firmly. Mineta, on the verge of tears, could only watch as his classmates ran for their lives. As the last one left, Iida prepared to shut the door tightly, ensuring the danger would be contained.

"Wait for me!!"

Mineta scrambled to escape, but the yellow smoke had already begun to envelop him. The crisis was visible to the naked eye, and Iida Tenya, as class representative, made a quick decision.

"Mineta, you're a hero!"

With those words, Iida slammed the dorm room door shut. From inside, muffled sounds of struggling and banging echoed ominously.

The knocking sound in the room gradually faded. Just as Class Rep Iida Tenya sighed in relief, a pale yellow mist started seeping out through the gaps in the door.

"I can't handle this alone! I need help!"

Iida shouted loudly, scaring everyone into immediate action.

"Hurry, block the gaps in the door!"

Sero Hanta scrambled to tear off some tape and seal the doorway, while Ashido Mina used a thin layer of acid to ensure the ominous mist wouldn't leak out.

"Um... Mineta is still inside..."

Midoriya Izuku kindly reminded them. Earlier, when Iida closed the door, Mineta Minoru had been locked in, leaving him alone in the room.

"Midoriya... it's best not to think about it anymore..."

Iida leaned his head against the dorm room door, speaking sorrowfully.

"Mineta has... already sacrificed himself..."

"But Mineta might just—"

"Enough!"

Midoriya's words were cut off by Iida's anguished shout. The class rep, visibly upset, said,

"Mineta is a hero... Let's just remember his sacrifice..."

"..."

Midoriya was speechless, while Ochako and Takeyama Urei whispered quietly to each other nearby.

"Didn't Mineta look like he was about to escape just now? I saw his hand reaching for the door."

"Yeah, but then the class rep slammed it shut, locking him in for good..."

...

And so, another "ordinary" day passed at U.A. High School.
