The Hogyoku (II) [BLEACH UNIVERSE]
~~Sokyoku Hill~~
“I am surprised. It’s so small” Aizen commented while holding the Hogyoku in between his fingers. The look of accomplishment was clear on his face, but he was still extremely calm and composed. After all, everything was going according to his plans. “The Soul is unharmed” Aizen commented as he looked down at Rukia with a hint of fascination in his eyes.
Aizen was about to put the Hogyoku inside his shihakushou, but before he could do that, an extremely pale daintily hand came out of nowhere and grabbed his hand, surprising him. His eyes grew wide when he realized who it was, but what was more worrying was that he never noticed her arrival. “I will be taking that, thank you” Kaguya spoke in a cold tone before she grabbed his face with her other hand.
She immediately used her Human Path to copy all of his memories and by the time she was done, Aizen was already struggling. However, much to his horror, he couldn’t even budge her… Unfortunately for him, his horror didn’t last for long. “All-Killing Ash Bone” Kaguya muttered under her breath and a piece of bone shot out of her hand, straight into Aizen’s face, killing him instantly.
Everything happened so fast that before anyone could make sense of what was happening, Aizen was already a pile of ash and the Hogyoku was in possession of the weird-looking newcomer… To be honest, killing Aizen turned out to be pretty anticlimactic and if Kaguya was being honest, she was hoping for him to at least put up a fight, but it was fine this way too.
Everyone was already reeling from revelations Aizen made, and now he was dead… Just like that. It was hard for everyone present to comprehend something like that. Even Gin and Tosen were completely gobsmacked. Only the two of them knew just how powerful Aizen was and this newcomer killed him like nothing… How could they comprehend something like that?
While everyone was busy imitating a fish out of the water, Kaguya used this opportunity to store the Hogyoku inside her Kamui dimension. She could play around with it later… For now, she had other things to deal with…
“Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal-“ Kukaku Shiba came into the view along with Jidanbo Ikkanzaka. The woman was chanting loudly while sitting on the shoulder of Jidanbo, but unfortunately for her, she was never able to finish the chant for the Hado she was planning to cast.
“Shinra Tensei” Kaguya muttered under her breath and both Jidanbo and Kukaku were blasted away by an invisible force. Kaguya didn’t even have to look up to see them coming thanks to the Tenseigan. Perks of having a near 360-degree vision. However, the next moment, Yoruichi and Soi Fon appeared in front of her. Yoruichi, who was still using Shunko grabbed one of Kaguya’s hands while pointing her other hand at Kaguya’s chest.
Meanwhile, Soi Fon grabbed Kaguya’s other hand before placing her Zanpaktou on Kaguya’s neck. Kaguya didn’t even look fazed in the slightest at their arrival… After all, she had seen the two of them coming long ago… However, she wasn’t expecting to be attacked by the good guys, considering she just killed Aizen. Maybe, they wanted her to return the Hogyoku.
Kaguya opened her mouth to say something, but Soi Fon pressed the Zanpaktou on her neck. “Don’t say anything or I will be forced to remove your head” Soi Fon explained with a dangerous edge in her voice while she also started to leak her killing intent. According to Yoruichi, Kaguya needed to voice her techniques to use them, so that was why Soi Fon decided to prevent her from saying anything.
Yoruichi wasn’t sure if something like that was going to work, but it was the best they had and considering all of her techniques were unfamiliar to them, they had to work with whatever they had…
“Kaguya, you must be confused…” Yoruichi slowly began. “Kisuke had his suspicions about you and it seems he was right, once again” Yoruichi explained and Kaguya noticed Soi Fon twitch at the mention of Kisuke Urahara. However, Kaguya couldn’t help but find the whole situation pretty amusing. These people knew nothing about her powers and they just saw her kill someone, who was running circles around them, completely effortlessly and now they were turning their weapons against her?
Kaguya simply couldn’t fathom what could have led these people to believe they could subdue her… Maybe it was their hubris. After all, Shinigami thought that they were at the top of the food chain, which wasn’t technically wrong considering Aizen was dead and even though the Arrancar were pretty strong, they were no match for the Shinigami.
Kaguya would have smiled in amusement at the situation, but that would have ruined her image. So, she decided to remain completely stoic as usual…
“Now, this does not need to get any more ugly. Just return the Hogyoku and you will be free to leave” Yoruichi finally revealed her demand. To be honest, Yoruichi did not have the power to pardon Kaguya, but considering she just killed Aizen and stopped his plans single-handedly, she was sure that the Captain Commander would be willing to let her and the kids go as long as they cooperated with the investigation.
However, for that to happen, Kaguya needed to surrender the Hogyoku before anything else. As long as the Hogyoku remained in her possession, Gotei 13 was going to consider her an enemy. Then the woman had just killed Aizen without any effort… That was why Yoruichi was somewhat wary about facing her, but the reason why Aizen was such a dangerous opponent was because of Kyoka Suigetsu and they needed to retrieve the Hogyoku at any cost.
While Yoruichi was speaking more Shinigami were appearing on the Sokyoku Hill. Rangiku Matsumoto appeared and placed her Zanpaktou on Gin’s neck… Did the girl really think that she could stop someone like Gin? Moments later, the Captain Commander arrived along with Kyoraku and Ukitake. There were a few more Shinigami who arrived with them, but to Kaguya, they were simply inconsequential.
“Look, it is over, you are surrounded from all sides. Just hand over the Hogyoku and we can come up with something” Yoruichi tried to reason once again, but once again Kaguya was simply unfazed. Moments later, everyone, except for the Captain Commander was blasted away from Kaguya by an invisible force. Well, she wasn’t using her full power in the first place so it was kind of understandable that the Captain Commander was able to withstand her attack.
If she had used her full power then she could have easily razed one-fifth of Seireitei to the ground and she had seen the Captain Commander clench his muscles when the attack hit him. Anyone else would have missed that minor detail, but it was hard to miss even the slightest details with Tenseigan and Rinne Sharingan.
Kaguya slowly turned so that she would be facing the Captain Commander… “Genryusai Yamamoto…” Kaguya trailed off, making the man finally open his eyes. Until now he had his eyes closed as he was expecting that the other Captains would be able to handle the situation, but it seems that he was mistaken. “I will be keeping the Hogyoku” Kaguya stated with a hint of absolute certainty in her voice.
After all, strong people do not make requests, they simply state… Kaguya still remembered when her Clan Elder had declared that she was to be sacrificed to nurture the God Tree… It was not a question, not a request, not a suggestion, it was a statement dictating how the events were to progress…
“Hoh?” Yamamoto asked as he raised one of his eyebrows in her direction. “Tell me, child, what is your name?” Yamamoto asked instead of attacking her right away. If it had been him from a thousand years ago then he would have already her, but he had mellowed out quite a bit in the past thousand years and then there was something else, he was intrigued by her existence.
First of all, the woman was no Shinigami considering she possessed a physical body, neither she was a new kind of Hollow. He had been a Shinigami for more than a thousand years so he knew the difference between normal Souls and Hollows. The woman was something completely different and that intrigued him. After all, after a thousand years, there was something different in front of his eyes.
“Child?” Kaguya asked as she inclined her head with a frown marring her face. “If anything, you are the child here” Kaguya pointed out.
“Is that so? This is the first time I have been challenged in that regard” Yamamoto said as he stroked his beard. “I don’t remember exactly how old I am, but I am certain that it has been more than 2000 years since I was born” Yamamoto explained with a hint of amusement in his voice.
Kaguya knew that she was sealed for more than a thousand years, but she did not know the exact count and she was already close to a thousand years old when she was asked to travel to earth to plant the God Tree with Isshiki. In her Clan, even thousand year olds were considered youngsters and you needed to be a thousand years old to accept a mission from the Clan.
Kaguya still remembered how she had to dedicate 8 centuries to complete her education and then she had to dedicate 1 century to learn how a woman should behave in her Clan… Even though she was 2000 years old, she was still a child when compared to other Otsutsuki. If she remembered correctly then Issihiki was 6000 years old, but at that time, she had other thoughts in her mind.
Like how to stab Issihiki in the back and take the fruit for herself… However, Kaguya clearly remembered that the current Otsutsuki Clan Head was 42213 years old when she left her Clan and a couple of the Clan Elders were more than million years old while nobody in their Clan knew exactly how old their Clan Ancestor was…
“Then we are about the same age” Kaguya answered, making Yamamoto raise his eyebrows at her. He never expected to meet anyone as old as him. Yes, there were older people, but he rarely came across them.
“Hoh…” Yamamoto trailed off as he continued to stroke his beard. He noticed the other Shinigami returning, but he quickly raised his hand to stop them from attacking Kaguya. “Then it was my mistake to call you a child” Yamamoto admitted casually, something Kaguya was not expecting him to do. “However, I cannot allow you to leave with the Hogyoku” Yamamoto declared in a hard tone as the air around him changed and a heavy Reiatsu engulfed the Sokyoku Hill.
Yamamoto did not exactly know what this Hogyoku was, but Aizen wanted it and it could supposedly remove the boundary between Shinigami and Hollows… He could sense the Reiatsu of a Hollow from Kurosaki Ichigo, but the boy was a Shinigami. Yamamoto wasn’t arrogant enough to believe that he knew everything, but the Hogyoku was something dangerous. He could at least guess that much. That was why he wasn’t willing to allow an unknown entity to possess such a powerful object.
The Shinigami stumbled when Yamamoto finally released his Reiatsu and most of the lieutenants even passed out right on the spot, but Kaguya remained completely unfazed. Yamamoto was focusing his Reiatsu on her, but the woman remained completely unaffected by his Reiatsu, which was kind of surprising to him, considering he had been at the top for more than a thousand years.
However, in reality, it wasn’t like she wasn’t affected by the Reiatsu… She could easily feel that her Soul was being weighed down, but she was only feeling slight discomfort. It would have been worse if she didn’t possess a physical body though. Her body was acting as a protective shell for her Soul. Still, Kaguya was not afraid of Yamamoto. He was proably the strongest Shinigami outside the members of Zero Division, but she wasn’t planning to fight him like a Shinigami.
Yamamoto stared at Kaguya for a moment before his cane transformed into his Zanpaktou. “Reduce All Creation to Ash: Ryujin Jakka!” With that, Yamamoto pulled out his Zanpaktou from the sheath and the Sokyoku Hill was drowned in flames…
