Rebirth of the Last Days: Double Pets

Chapter 51 - Warehouse

The large gate was already wide open, likely because the survivors inside ran out and abandoned it after the apocalypse broke out.

Everyone was quite satisfied with this setup that didn’t require them to break down the door, so they stood at the entrance and cleared out a wave of zombies inside.

After clearing the area, they sent Liu Bing in to take a look around.

Before Liu Bing entered, Tang Ruo reminded him once more not to go to the east side.

Since Tian Hai had given him the crystal core, he had taken to treating Tang Ruo like his own sister, so when he heard her caution, he naturally replied, “Sister Tang, don’t worry. I’ll remember it well.”

Tang Ruo touched her nose, feeling a bit strange.

Tian Hai was younger than her, so calling her sister was understandable, but Liu Bing clearly looked older than both her and Bai Qi—why was he calling her sister too?

Liu Bing quickly scurried around and returned. However, a group of zombies was following behind him, growling loudly.

“Quick, help me get rid of these followers!” he shouted.

Tang Ruo wrapped him in mental energy.

Hu Haotian and Luo Ziqiang quickly erected earthen walls behind him.

The long-range ability users immediately sprang into action, throwing their skills at the zombies.

The wave of zombies that followed Liu Bing was quickly dealt with.

Seeing that he was safe, Liu Bing came over to report his findings: “If you go straight ahead, you can reach the factory directly. But the warehouse is in the southwest corner, so we should head there. The office building is also to the west, and the cafeteria is in the south.”

Since they were already here and had acquired the solar panels, they definitely needed to sweep through the cafeteria as well; otherwise, they would feel like they were wasting fuel.

But there was still one issue.

Hu Haotian said, “What if there are survivors in the cafeteria? What should we do?”

Everyone discussed it for a moment.

The convoy had been formed temporarily, but after so many days, everyone had become quite united. Excluding those who had left—those with weak will and those afraid for their lives—what remained were people who could be considered trustworthy.

All the supplies had been found by everyone together. Now, if they were to add more people, they would certainly need to redistribute some of the supplies.

However, if they encountered survivors and chose to ignore them, they still felt unable to do that.

Seeing that everyone was struggling with the situation, Bai Qi offered a suggestion that was particularly suited to their current reality: “Isn’t it better to ask the survivors in the kitchen directly when we see them?”

Indeed, they hadn’t even seen the people yet, so whether or not survivors existed was still an unknown. They had no idea how many there might be, so what was the point of chatting aimlessly about it?

With that, everyone dropped the line of thought and began to focus on the task at hand.

They were going to rob the solar panels.

Liu Bing led the way, and the ability users swept through the area. With the cooperation of two small teams, they quickly arrived at the warehouse in the southwest corner.

Hu Haotian had already instructed his bodyguards to drive the trucks inside.

Having experienced several zombie breaches and with the cooperation of their teammates, the group felt no fear toward the zombies anymore and advanced with high spirits.

Tang Ruo released her mental power, which could now extend like a transparent web up to three hundred meters away to survey the environment inside.

Inside the warehouse, there were no signs of life, but about twenty zombies were wandering around.

Without Tang Ruo’s reminder, everyone cautiously entered the warehouse.

Liu Bing quickly went in first, took a look around, and then used the old method to lure out a bunch of zombies.

Following the same tactic as before, they eliminated the zombies inside in just a few minutes.

With the zombies gone, everyone stood at the entrance of the warehouse and assessed the situation inside.

Liu Bing noted that there were many solar photovoltaic panels stacked inside, not yet assembled into panels.

Outside, there were already assembled ones that could be used once installed on the rooftops, but these wouldn’t be enough to support the electricity needs of three villas. He said, “We need to take all the photovoltaic panels back and assemble them ourselves.”

Since they were there, they wouldn’t stop until they had loaded the trucks to capacity, and everyone agreed to help with the transportation.

Hu Haotian went inside to take a look; the warehouse was very spacious, about five to six hundred square meters, and there were two offices inside. He said, “We’ll spend the night here. There are only two rooms, so we can divide them up.”

With nine people and only two rooms, it was obviously not enough, but with the presence of earth-type ability users, dividing up a few spaces wouldn’t be a big problem.

Luo Ziqiang said, “A bunch of big men, just a bunch of rough guys, why bother dividing rooms? We all have our own sleeping bags. We can sleep in one room for the night and go back to the big villa tomorrow, so let’s just all sleep in one room!”

Hu Haotian also thought this made a lot of sense. One of the offices was a larger multi-person room, so everyone chose to stay there.

“Tang, since you’re a girl, you can sleep with Bai in the smaller room,” Hu Haotian suggested, glancing at Tian Hai. “You can join them in the small room too…”

Tian Hai shivered at the thought and felt uneasy: “Of course, I’ll sleep in the same room as you guys.”

After the previous experience at the small supermarket, he definitely didn’t want to suffer any more misfortune!

Once the rooms were assigned, everyone began moving the solar panels.

There were just too many panels, and even after two hours of hauling, they hadn’t finished moving them all.

Even though they were just walking back and forth at the warehouse entrance, everyone felt it wasn’t safe, so around four o’clock, they stopped the transportation work, closed the warehouse doors, and prepared to eat and sleep.

Earlier, everyone had brought their own blankets, and some even had tents…

In the big office, everyone was enthusiastically laying out their mattresses, while in the small office, Tang Ruo was also setting up her mat.

Tang Ruo felt very happy that she didn’t have to sleep on the ground tonight.

Even when surrounded by the mesh railing, she could roll over and end up on the floor, and after such experiences, she had learned to look at the sky at a 45-degree angle!

While she was showering, Bai Qi didn’t dare to stay inside.

The sight was too beautiful; he didn’t want to look.

Just then, Hu Haotian next door was looking for Bai Qi to discuss the upcoming plans, so he vacated the space for Tang Ruo to take her bath.
