Chapter 168.2
One day, Cheng Qi hurriedly ran into the room and said to Li Tianyan, who was resting in the cave, “Young master, Cheng Yu is here.”
Li Tianyan noticed Cheng Qi’s flushed face of excitement. He put down the book in his hand, stood up, and said, “I thought I would take you to the Central Region in two days, but your eldest brother came first.”
“Then let’s just go back with him,” Cheng Qi said, jumping up and down excitedly.
He hadn’t expected Cheng Yu to come to the Southern Region and hadn’t known about it beforehand. Huo Xing had met him at the gate of the sect and brought him in directly.
“Alright.” Seeing how happy he was, Li Tianyan didn’t object. He took out a robe, put it on, straightened the skirt, and left the room with Cheng Qi.
Tian Min had long heard from Cheng Qi that he had a twin in the Haoyue Immortal Sect, so he wasn’t too surprised when Cheng Yu appeared. Still, he was impressed by the qualifications of the two siblings.
Although Cheng Yu wasn’t as exceptional as Cheng Qi, he was still in the middle stage of foundation establishment at the age of twenty-one, which was rare in the Hengwu Continent.
“Xiao Yu, have some tea,” Tian Min said, pushing the tea cup Qin Xuan had brewed toward Cheng Yu.
“Thank you, elder,” Cheng Yu replied, accepting the tea and sipping lightly.
But his gaze couldn’t help but fall on the puppet beside him. This puppet was no stranger to him; he had seen it once in the Canghong Secret Realm. Now, in the Haoyue Immortal Sect, many elders had similar puppets.
It was just that puppets were usually well-kept and only used during battles. This was the first time Elder Tian Min had a puppet assist with making tea.
“How have your parents been lately?” Tian Min pondered for a moment before asking Cheng Yu.
He had also heard about the Cheng family. There had been a lot of commotion when Chi Zhuo wanted to accept these two children as his disciples. If he had realized earlier that Chi Zhuo had other motives, the events that followed might have been prevented. Seeing Cheng Yu, Tian Min couldn’t help but feel a little guilty.
“They are all fine,” Cheng Yu replied, a slight smile on his face as he thought of his parents.
After his father’s leg injury had healed, it seemed he wanted to make up for the regrets of the past ten years. He often took Cheng Yu’s mother to travel to different towns. The two of them now lived a very comfortable life.
“Brother.”
While the two were talking, Cheng Qi had already brought Li Tianyan to the courtyard where they were receiving guests and took the seat between Elder Tian Min and Cheng Yu.
When Cheng Qi stayed in Qingdan Palace, he no longer wore a mask all day. Now, sitting beside Cheng Yu, their faces appeared almost identical, but their personalities and temperaments were so different that they could be distinguished at a glance.
“You all chat slowly; I’m going to the alchemy room first.” When Tian Min saw Cheng Qi and Li Tianyan approaching, he left the space for them. Before leaving, he reminded Cheng Qi, “Xiao Qi, your eldest brother is here today. Let’s prepare some good dishes to entertain him.”
“Don’t worry, elder; I’ll make sure you have a hearty meal at noon,” Cheng Qi replied with a smile.
Tian Min was caught off guard by his enthusiasm and coughed a few times awkwardly, though he still tried to appear composed as he walked out of the courtyard with the puppet, muttering, “Am I really that greedy?”
When Tian Min left, only Li Tianyan and Cheng Qi remained. Li Tianyan picked up the kettle and poured tea for himself and Cheng Qi.
“How have you been these past few years?” Cheng Yu’s smile grew wider as he looked at Cheng Qi.
Over the past two years, he had often heard the names Li Tianyan and Cheng Qi. After the battle with the Shura Sect, these two had become legends on the Hengwu Continent.
“Very well. And you?” It had been nearly three years since Cheng Qi had returned from the Central Region, and he still thought about it sometimes.
“Our parents miss you very much, though I didn’t tell them I was coming to the Southern Region this time,” Cheng Yu said.
“You went to Jincheng?” Li Tianyan looked at him and asked.
“Yes, I went,” Cheng Yu replied without hiding anything, nodding.
Cheng Qi couldn’t help but blink at the mention of Jincheng. “What were you doing in Jincheng, brother?”
“Just curious, so I went to take a look,” Cheng Yu said calmly, though a few cold glints flashed in his eyes.
He had already suspected that the Cheng family might not have treated Cheng Qi well, but he hadn’t expected they would go to such lengths.
If his father hadn’t provided so many valuable resources to the Cheng family, they never would have become the top family in Jincheng. In return, the Cheng family had not only relegated Xiao Qi to be raised by a concubine but had also allowed him to be mistreated. Naturally, Cheng Yu wanted to teach these ungrateful people a lesson.
Though Cheng Qi was optimistic, he was not naive. He quickly understood Cheng Yu’s purpose in going to Jincheng, but since Cheng Yu didn’t say more, he decided not to dwell on it. After all, the Cheng family in Jincheng was already a distant and insignificant part of his past.
Then he shared his and Li Tianyan’s plans with Cheng Yu. “Since you’re here, stay for the night. Tomorrow, the young master and I will accompany you back to the Central Region to spend some time with our parents.”
“Alright.” Upon hearing that Cheng Qi was heading to the Central Region, Cheng Yu readily agreed.
The three of them chatted in the courtyard for a long time. When it was nearly time for dinner, Cheng Qi ran to the kitchen to prepare the meal, leaving only Li Tianyan and Cheng Yu.
“Do you have something to say?” Li Tianyan noticed Cheng Yu’s hesitation, set down his teacup, and asked.
