Chapter 540 - 514: Brother Lang is Unhappy
Chapter 540: Chapter 514: Brother Lang is Unhappy
A man’s feelings for a woman can be gauged by how he deals with matters related to her. Xiao Qian had only asked Yu Minglang to investigate her father a long time ago, but he had kept all the details in his heart.
“Find this person’s whereabouts immediately, no matter what method you use. Don’t let him run away once you find him.”
Yu Minglang drove quickly to Jia Xiufang’s home, which was not far from his own and only took a few minutes to reach.
As soon as they entered the building, they smelled the pungent smell of smoke. The door to her home was wide open, and several thugs were leaning against the wall or sitting on the stairs, with cigarette butts all over the floor.
Seeing Xiao Qian and Yu Minglang coming up, one of them immediately stood up and ran into the room, reporting to someone inside.
“Brother Jiu, Chen Lin’s daughter is back.”
Xiao Qian and Yu Minglang exchanged a glance. These people were able to recognize her without her introducing herself, indicating that they had done their homework beforehand. It seemed that her and Yu Minglang’s guess was probably true.
A sleazy man came quickly out of the room, the one who had called himself Brother Jiu on the phone.
His eyes lit up when he saw Xiao Qian, she was even more beautiful than in the pictures.
Feeling the undisguised evil intentions from this man, a murderous aura suddenly emanated from Yu Minglang. Although Xiao Jiu didn’t know what this man did for a living, animals have instincts. He looked at Yu Minglang as a mouse would look at a cat. The aura Yu Minglang possessed was not something an ordinary thug could handle.
“Didn’t you say not to report? Who is he?” Xiao Jiu shifted his gaze away from Yu Minglang, not daring to look into his sharp eyes.
His momentum was noticeably weaker, and the tone in which he spoke to Xiao Qian didn’t have any questioning authority. Despite having many people on his side, they failed to show any advantage.
“He’s my boyfriend. Where’s my mom?”
“In the room – where’s the money?” Xiao Jiu finally remembered the purpose of his visit. The ragtag team beside him began to chime in, too, but one glance from Yu Minglang caused them all to look away, too scared to speak up.
“Your mother is in the room.” Xiao Jiu also felt somewhat nervous, extremely wary of Yu Minglang.
Xiao Qian remained unaffected and didn’t care about these thugs. She walked boldly into the room with Yu Minglang closely following her.
After the two of them entered the room, Xiao Jiu stood at the door with an inexplicable feeling of fear rising in his heart.
“Brother Jiu, will there be any trouble? I feel like this man isn’t easy to deal with. Did this woman call someone for help?”
A henchman echoed the thoughts of the group.
Xiao Jiu wasn’t sure himself. It was apparent to everyone that Yu Minglang was not someone to be trifled with. These people had been involved enough in petty theft to visit the police station frequently, but they sensed something different about Yu Minglang. Although they were intimidated by uniformed officers, the murderous aura surrounding Yu Minglang took time to cultivate.
“It doesn’t matter, we’ll follow the original script! With so many of us, are we afraid of just one of him? No matter how strong someone is, they can’t beat so many of us. Let’s go into the room!”
With the advantage of having more people, Xiao Jiu forced himself to muster some courage.
The moment Xiao Qian entered the room and saw the scene inside, her anger surged.
Her mother was being watched by several people and was unable to move on the sofa. Her brother and Father Liao were both cornered by two men. Da Long looked like he had been beaten, as had Father Liao. His glasses were cracked, and two strong men bound Da Long and Father Liao with ropes.
Father Liao was just caught up in the fray. He came by after work and found the door to his neighbor’s house shut tightly, with loud voices inside. Feeling that something was off, he knocked on the door to see what was going on.
Upon seeing someone giving his neighbor a hard time, Father Liao immediately tried to intervene and play the hero. However, he was punched in the face, breaking his glasses. His phone was also smashed when he tried to call the police. With Father Liao and others’ passionate attempt to intervene, these people beat them up and tied them with ropes, also gagging their mouths.
When Xiao Qian came in, Chen Zilong whimpered as if he were warning his elder sister not to let anyone bully her. The scene seemed like it was straight out of a hero movie. “Sis, don’t worry about me, just go! Hmph!”
Seeing her brother being bullied and causing trouble for the neighbors, Xiao Qian couldn’t contain her anger any longer.
She rushed over to check on Jia Xiufang. Fortunately, her mother hadn’t been injured, and no one had laid a hand on her, but she was undoubtedly frightened, especially when Xiao Qian returned, which caused her to shed tears.
“What are you doing back?” Jia Xiufang’s voice trembled.
Her daughter had mentioned returning to school the previous night – Xiao Qian, of course, couldn’t tell her mother that she had spent the night with a man, so Jia Xiufang thought Xiao Qian was no longer in Qiang City. When she called, she just wanted to see if Xiao Qian could ask the Old Yu Family for help.
She never expected her daughter to return.
With so many wolves in their house, Jia Xiufang was genuinely afraid that something might happen to her daughter. Although her son-in-law was there, she was still worried. No matter how capable Yu Minglang was, could he handle so many people?
“Did they hit you?” Xiao Qian asked.
“No, but they hit your brother and your Uncle Liao…” Jia Xiufang looked over in her son’s direction, tears flowing even more fiercely. Her son had been beaten right before her eyes, and the neighbor who had tried to help was also beaten.
She was at a loss for how to beg these people, and the situation had genuinely frightened Jia Xiufang.
She had been honest and straightforward all her life; she had never experienced anything like this before.
“Xiao Mei, take your mother to the bedroom. Leave the rest to me.”
Yu Minglang spoke in a deep voice. From the moment he saw his future brother-in-law being tied up and bullied, Brother Lang found it hard to suppress his violent instincts.
“Be careful.”
Xiao Qian helped her mother get up, and one henchman tried to stop her, not knowing any better. One glance from Yu Minglang, however, and the henchman was too scared to move.
Xiao Qian then led Jia Xiufang into the inner bedroom, undisturbed.
Once the door was closed, Jia Xiufang’s voice trembled with fear. “Qian’er… will Minglang be alright on his own out there?”
“He’ll be fine; he knows what he’s doing.”
As soon as Xiao Qian’s words fell, a scream came from outside.
