The next morning, the whole city was in an uproar as the news of the attack spread everywhere. The City Lord’s mansion sent people to calm everyone and assured them that there was no significant losses suffered by the City Lord’s family.

The atmosphere inside his family was very tense. He hadn’t seen his father and brother during the meals and was only accompanied by his mother. His mother was a quiet woman who agrees with everything his father says. However, he can see that she does love him a lot. Even if he didn’t inherit his host’s emotions, he has nothing but good feelings towards his mother of this world who had always been very gentle to him.

He started to think about what will happen to his family after all of this is over. He was not very concerned about his father and brother’s fates as he had no attachment to them whatsoever. They seem to be in the upper echelons of the family and included in the inner circle, so they are unlikely to be spared if they were defeated by other powers.

Also, the news spread of a very powerful array called the ten thousand demonic array that was critical in repelling the attackers and there were rumors that its creator was a young man called Nie Li who found the materials and techniques in an ancient ruin. The City Lord mansion did not confirm or deny this speculation, and this surprised everyone.

In the next week, Shen Yue went out again for his appointment with Zi Yun. She was waiting on the same spot and smiled as soon as she spotted him. Shen Yue offered his arm to walk towards the park and she accepted without hesitation and with a smile. When they reached a quiet spot, they sat down on a park bench and Zi Yun initiated the conversation.

"My father wishes to thank you for your information. Because of our advanced preparation, there were only a few serious injuries but no casualties during the attack last week." As Shen Yue had never seen Zi Yun smile at him like this before, he was feeling warm inside. He was staring at her with his mouth open. He came back to himself when Zi Yun tore her gaze away with a slight blush.

"I am glad that is the case. Cough..cough. I heard there was a powerful demonic array used in battle?”

"Yes, the array was used in the counterattack." Zi Yun seemed to become tense in a moment. It seemed the City Lord has decided to not give any public information about Nie Li. Of course, he is still an outsider and still not completely trusted by the City Lord.

"Zi Yun, I have found more information I can share with you." Zi Yun nodded with a serious face.

"I have found the benefit the dark guild offered my family in return for cooperation. First, they wanted to control Glory city by helping my father fight for City lord's position. If that doesn't succeed, they want to destroy Glory city and my family is promised a place in a new realm called Abyss Prison realm. You must know about the ruins at the north of city with a big seal that no one has broken. The dark guild seemed to have successfully broken the seal and there seemed to be a whole new realm inside."

"So, it's like this. Thank you very much for sharing this me. My father will be glad to have this information."

The duo became silent after this as neither felt compelled to speak and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. Soon a couple walked towards their path followed by their laughter that ended the silent atmosphere.

"We should go back now." Shen Yue said as he became sensitive to his surroundings.

"Yes, of course." Zi Yun took the offered arm and walked back towards to the square from where there is direct path to the lord's mansion.

"Let's meet up again next week if nothing happens." Shen Yue knew that according to the story’s timeline, she would go with Nie Li to visit Abyss Prison Realm and stay there for two weeks. If that happens, their next meeting would be in two weeks instead. Of course, he can’t mention that since he wasn’t sure if that will still happen with all the things he had changed.

"Ok. I'll see you next week." Zi Yun smiled at him and turned back to walk to her home.
Shen Yue looked at her back for a moment before turning back to head home as well. Things were moving quickly and he needed move on his own plans.
