chapter 6
Is there anything… seems like there isn’t
“Well then…”
After having dinner with her mother and sending a thank-you message to Ayna, who had accompanied her for shopping today, I decided to write a brief character setting to organize the current situation.
Honestly, I vaguely understood that it was a waste of time, but I thought it was better than doing nothing. Ayna calling me “Master” was shocking, and I sensed that there was something closer than usual between us.
However, now I find myself scared of trying to understand that abnormal Ayna’s attitude and closeness were not unusual, and that was what was normal. There is fear… but I am resigning myself to the fact that this fear will soon disappear.
“Sasaki Osamu, Otonashi Ayna, Honjo Iori, Sasaki Kotone…”
I started writing down the information about the people I had recently met, but I didn’t notice anything significant. Regarding Osamu, it was a typical protagonist’s setting, and for Ayna, Iori, and Kotone, there was only information about their style, personality, likes, and dislikes.
There is no official site for “I Lost Everything in This World,” but I was quite confident in remembering the character introductions. As I recalled from memory and wrote on paper, my handwriting filled the paper with text.
“There’s really nothing about Osamu… Iori and Kotone seem similar. Ayna…”
This was what I wrote about Ayna.
– Childhood friend of Osamu and a girl from the neighborhood. Beautiful in appearance, kind in character, and popular among classmates. She harbors deep feelings for Osamu and is waiting for the right moment to confess.
“…It’s like a typical childhood friend heroine description, right?”
In the end, Touwa would be taken away by someone… I don’t get it.
Next, I wrote about myself in my current state, Yukiyo Touwa.
– Osamu’s best friend and a reliable male student for Ayna. Popular among both genders due to his appearance and personality, and like Ayna, he is highly respected by classmates. He used to play soccer until the second year of junior high but quit due to certain circumstances and is now a member of the homecoming club.
“…Pretty ordinary. He’s a refreshing handsome guy.”
I never imagined from the character illustration of Towa that I remember, and this introduction, that he was actually a character who would be stolen away. I was genuinely surprised at the time. Come to think of it, there was a setting that Towa played soccer. Writing this now, I remembered… It doesn’t seem to have any particular significance, so it’s probably best not to worry about it.
“Uchida Mari and Sasaki Hatsune… They are Shuu’s underclassman and mother, but there’s really nothing special… I just don’t get it!”
I knew from the start, but I really don’t understand anything.
I folded the paper where I wrote the above and stored it, then for some reason, I opened the drawer of the desk. What came out was an album, apparently containing photos that captured Towa’s life up to now.
Flipping through the pages, there were photos from a young age. Not just Towa, but also little Ayana and Shuu were in the pictures.
“Oh… this one’s rare.”
My attention was drawn to one particular photo.
It showed Ayana falling spectacularly, perhaps missing while trying to kick a soccer ball, with Shuu and Towa laughing heartily, holding their stomachs. Since they were all young, this scene of them playing together was very heartwarming.
“?”
However, as I looked through many photos, I noticed something.
Most of the photos showed the three of them together, with Towa in the center and Ayana and Shuu on either side. It bothered me that there wasn’t a single photo where Ayana and Shuu were next to each other… but maybe it doesn’t have any particular meaning.
As I unexpectedly spent time looking at the photos, when I checked the clock, it was already past 11 p.m. I was starting to feel a bit sleepy, so I decided it was time to go to bed. I tidied up the album and lay down on the bed. For some reason, I felt like I wanted to hear Ayana’s voice.
“Calling at this hour would be quite bothersome… Alright, if there’s no answer after two rings, I’ll hang up!”
If I end up waking her, I’ll apologize. If I end up putting her in a bad mood… well, I’ll just have to apologize.
I made up my mind. Let’s make the call!!
“I shouldn’t re-“
“Hello, Towa-kun?”
“…Yeah.”
…It was quite unexpected to be answered in the middle of the first ring.
Even though I was glad she picked up, I wasn’t sure what to say since I just wanted to hear her voice. As I hesitated with my words, Ayana chuckled.
“It seems like you didn’t think about what to talk about… is that right?”
Feeling my face flush even though we were on the phone due to her accurate observation, I couldn’t just stay silent, so I quickly responded to Ayana.
“To be honest, yeah. But I didn’t expect you to answer so quickly. Were you not asleep?”
“Yes. Maybe, I thought Towa-kun might call. So, I had my phone with me, and when it rang… hehehe, seems like our thoughts connected, right?”
How can she say such embarrassing things? Yet, she chooses words that make me happy. In Ayana’s case, these words are probably not calculated but sincere and honest. Maybe it was because of Ayana’s words that I was able to calm down and choose my words calmly.
“I wanted to hear Ayana’s voice.”
“My voice? Is that so?”
“Yeah. So, I’m really happy to hear Ayana’s voice now.”
“Ugh~!! Towa-kun! I’m really happy even though it’s over the phone, but next time, please say it to my face! And also… let’s hug each other!”
I heard a sound of something being hit. Ayana might have a habit of hitting something when she feels embarrassed. Imagining that scene was incredibly cute, and I couldn’t help but break into a big smile.
“If Ayana wants that, then I’ll do it. No, I want to do it.”
“It’s okay. Anytime. Even if Towa-kun doesn’t want to, I’ll do it.”
“Let’s think about a place.”
“Yes, somewhere where we can be alone… Ah!”
She’s a busy one. But talking to Ayana always makes me feel happy. Maybe it’s because of the influence of this body, but I long for Ayana. In the end, am I really Yukiyo Towa?
“…”
“Towa-kun.”
“What is it?”
Ayana’s voice turned slightly serious, and she continued.
“No matter what kind of Towa-kun you are, I love you. When ‘that time’ came, I accepted Towa-kun not out of pity, but because I wanted to be by your side, to support you.”
“…That is.”
What is Ayana talking about? When I tried to ask, a scene flowed through my mind. The image of Towa covered by Ayana, but his expression seemed so pained… And Ayana had a smile on her face, trying to reassure Towa. What on earth—
A sharp, indescribable pain shot through my head, bringing me back to reality.
“hahahaha, it’s starting to get a little embarrassing… Phew.”
As Ayana yawned, she glanced at the clock, realizing we had been talking a bit longer. Feeling bad for Ayana, I suggested we stop here, even though I was reluctant to end the conversation…
“Not yet… I still want to talk more.”
“I know I called, so it’s not right for me to say this, but it’s really late. How about tomorrow?”
“…I understand. I’ll endure it for today.”
She looked so adorable, seeming unwilling to hang up. While I also wanted to keep talking like Ayana, I decided to be strong and wait for tomorrow.
“Thank you for today. Really, for everything. Goodnight, Ayana.”
“Yes. Feel free to call me anytime, okay? Goodnight, Towa… Mwah.”
And so, the call ended. Was that the right sound effect at the end?
“Sigh…”
Talking to Ayana had lessened the loneliness I felt. Tonight, I feel like I’ll sleep more comfortably than usual. There are many things I’m curious about, things I want to investigate, but… maybe things will just unfold as they should. Or perhaps, it might be necessary to create an opportunity to talk openly with Ayana.
As I closed my eyes, feeling the drowsiness creeping in, my consciousness quickly faded away.
In a certain place, a man was playing a game.
Sitting in front of a computer, having reached the ending of the game he was playing, the man didn’t express joy but rather lamented.
“What is this? What kind of game is this? I knew it, though… Why bring in Ayana’s downfall scene right at the very end? How twisted is this game!!”
As he stared blankly at the rolling credits, the man, in a daze, remained motionless.
“Should I write a review or something.”
Having played the game, the man decided to share his thoughts as a player who had cleared it and delved into the internet. Suddenly, something caught his eye.
“Huh… A fan disc of ‘I Have Lost Everything’… Ayana’s story?”
What the man found was the fan disc of the game he had just played, which could be considered a sequel in a way. Although he was very intrigued, he didn’t feel like getting involved.
“A story from Ayana’s perspective, reliving her untold tale… Isn’t it just about delving into Ayana’s character with one intense scene? Who would even watch Ayana’s intense downfall scene after all this emotional damage!!”
Despite saying that, the curiosity to see scary things was there. The man didn’t intend to buy this fan disc himself, but out of curiosity, he decided to at least read what others had to say about it.
“It’s getting rave reviews.”
The man was surprised by the overwhelmingly positive feedback.
Starting from the top, the man read through the reviews that were written.
– “Since it’s a story not covered in the main game, I was curious and bought it. I was truly impressed… The change in perspective and delving into events not shown in the main game really alters one’s impression.”
– “If you have any attachment to Shu, it’s better not to buy it. There’s really no salvation, and above all, the image of the girl named Ayana gets turned upside down.”
– “There’s a scene where Ayana loses her virginity, but in that scene, Ayana is not a heroine who is cuckolded… She was just a goddess.”
– “I feel sorry for the junior and senior who got caught in the crossfire due to their closeness to Shu. But I’m satisfied since it was a great experience for me.”
– “Is this what a main game cuckold heroine is like? Just pure love, it was amazing.”
– “Ayana is just plain scary. But I wished I could have a girlfriend like her. Where can I find someone like her?”
– “I never thought soccer would play such a significant role. Towa, I can understand why you’d hold a grudge. I hope you find happiness with Ayana.”
– “I feel like a new world has opened up. But I don’t think there will be a story where the main game’s cuckold heroine is portrayed as the protagonist in a fan disc in the future. Both the story and the erotic scenes were fantastic.”
– “It’s a shame that Ayana’s mother was overlooked because of Ayana’s mercy. As someone who likes mature women, I wanted to see Ayana’s mom’s scene.”
And so on were the various reviews written.
The man, who had been silently reading them, slowly moved the cursor to the purchase button and clicked.
