Chapter 165 - Double Happiness, True Martial Immortal Emperor
The ancient warship of the Black Tortoise Emperor.
On the deck, Ying Wudi observed the numerous immortals and holy places sending their representatives to the Qingming Sect. He felt puzzled.
“Wow, the ancestors of each family have awakened at the same time. Is this some kind of telepathy?”
Suddenly, he noticed dozens of black jade chariots flying black dragon flags. A massive character, written in flowing script that seemed to dance with divine light, was emblazoned on the flags.
Zhu!
This was someone familiar.
Ying Wudi immediately called out, “Brother Zhu!”
A head popped out from one of the chariots. Seeing Ying Wudi on the deck, the figure smiled and said, “Well, if it isn’t Brother Wudi! I haven’t seen you since White Emperor City. I trust you’ve been doing well?”
“Not bad, not bad!” Ying Wudi smiled before asking, “May I ask why Brother Zhu is heading to the Qingming Sect?”
“My ancestor ordered me to personally deliver a treasure to Master Xu,” Zhu Zaohou replied, his tone carrying a hint of helplessness. He looked at Ying Wudi and asked, “And what about Brother Wudi?”
“I’m here for the same reason as you, Brother Zhu!” Ying Wudi replied with a frown.
“We’re both here to give gifts to Master Xu. What about the others?” Zhu Zaohou asked.
“Probably the same,” Ying Wudi replied.
Zhu Zaohou asked curiously, “So, is the Black Tortoise Emperor of the demon clan also heading to the Qingming Sect to deliver gifts to Master Xu?”
Ying Wudi responded, “Him? Deliver gifts? No, he’s going to challenge Master Xu!”
“Challenge Master Xu? Does he have a death wish?” Zhu Zaohou looked incredulous.
Even though the Black Tortoise Emperor was famous, Zhu Zaohou, having witnessed Master Xu’s unparalleled power during the White Emperor City incident, knew the truth. Master Xu had single-handedly killed six demon lords. In Zhu Zaohou’s eyes, no one in the younger generation could rival Master Xu. Although the Black Tortoise Emperor had defeated many divine sons in his realm, he was still far beneath Master Xu. To Zhu Zaohou, the only ones who could challenge Master Xu were ancient immortals or otherworldly old monsters.
To put it bluntly, the Black Tortoise Emperor simply wasn’t worthy.
“Maybe the Black Tortoise Emperor wants to test his own limits,” Ying Wudi speculated. He found it hard to understand the Emperor’s thinking—why willingly face such an unwinnable battle? Did the Emperor believe his Dao heart was too strong and needed to be tempered by failure?
“Who cares? He’s just a demon with thick skin and flesh. Even if he loses, he’ll survive!” Zhu Zaohou dismissed the matter. Then, glancing slyly at Ying Wudi, he said, “Brother Wudi, my chariot is much more spacious and comfortable than the Black Tortoise Emperor’s. I’ve even added some new beautiful maids. Care to join me?”
“Brother Zhu, it’s not wise to indulge in such pleasures. I’m focused on strengthening my weaknesses recently!” Ying Wudi replied seriously. Yet, moments later, he turned and called his followers to move their belongings over to Zhu Zaohou’s chariot.
The conversation between Ying Wudi and Zhu Zaohou had not been private. Every word reached the ears of the Black Tortoise Emperor, loud and clear.
Before the Emperor could express his anger, his followers erupted with indignation.
“How dare these humans be so arrogant? They’ve already declared you defeated before the fight has even started!”
“Where does their confidence come from? Don’t they know you’re a pure-blooded descendant?”
“What a waste of the Supreme Yang Physique! In ancient times, it was crushed by the God King Body. Now, these humans dare to boast and act presumptuously!”
These followers were no ordinary demons. Before surrendering to the Black Tortoise Emperor, they had been elites of their respective clans. Since even they had been defeated by the Emperor, how could a mere human like Xu Yang stand a chance?
“Speed up! Head to the Qingming Sect!” the Black Tortoise Emperor ordered coldly, his eyes flashing with chilling resolve.
Since birth, he had never been so belittled. The thought enraged him.
He was determined to prove his worth through action. In front of the numerous human factions heading to the Qingming Sect to deliver their gifts, he would humiliate Xu Yang. He would drag Xu Yang, who had been raised to an altar by the masses, down into the mud for all to see.
That would be truly satisfying.
“Yes, Your Majesty!” his followers replied, their enthusiasm rising. They knew their master would not rest until Xu Yang was taught a harsh lesson.
Above the Qingming Sect
Bang!!!
Xu Yang smashed an Immortal Emperor’s imprint with a single punch, skillfully collecting the law fragments with a light shield and throwing them into the system space. His actions were smooth and seamless, executed with practiced ease.
This was the last of the ten Immortal Emperor imprints, and by far the most challenging. Its strange magical power had almost caused Xu Yang to suffer a great loss. Fortunately, he used the Meaning of Reincarnation to deflect the red feather arrow that had locked onto his head, letting it graze past his ear.
The arrow had left a scratch on his ear. Xu Yang quickly mobilized his divine power to heal the wound. Thankfully, the wound was healed in time; otherwise, it might have taken longer to recover naturally.
If the arrow had struck his head, it might have left a significant injury. While Xu Yang’s powerful Dao body would have allowed him to recover, the sight would surely have frightened his disciples and Xiao Hongluan to tears.
This thought made Xu Yang even more cautious.
He stopped passively enduring attacks and instead rushed toward the remaining Immortal Emperor marks. Like a wolf breaking into a flock of sheep, he began slaughtering them mercilessly.
One after another, the Immortal Emperor marks fell to his might.
After destroying one, he would quickly pounce on the next.
If the marks began to coordinate and besiege him, Xu Yang would immediately retreat. The marks lacked consciousness and operated more like machines. Once he retreated, their formation would collapse. Seizing the opportunity, Xu Yang would rush back in to defeat them one by one.
His strategy was simple: retreat when the enemy advances, harass when the enemy remains still, attack when the enemy tires, and pursue when the enemy retreats.
Xu Yang executed this sixteen-character strategy flawlessly.
Boom!!!
It seemed that the heavens were enraged by Xu Yang’s actions.
Above the sky, a terrifying thunder tribulation began to gather. Dark clouds loomed, and the world plunged into darkness as if thunder could strike at any moment to turn Xu Yang into ashes.
“Double the happiness—Heavens, you are too kind!” Xu Yang said, his eyes flickering with amusement as a smile spread across his face.
Normally, breaking through to the Void Shattering realm did not involve a thunder tribulation. Yet, the Heavenly Dao had specially prepared one for him. How considerate!
Last time, the thunder tribulation had ended so quickly that he hadn’t even had the chance to collect any thunder tribulation liquid, one of the ten great spiritual objects of heaven and earth.
This time, he resolved to harvest some from the tribulation cloud, no matter what.
With renewed determination, Xu Yang accelerated his efforts to eliminate the Immortal Emperor marks. Using his finger as a sword, he gently slashed at a nearby mark, unleashing a sharp sword intent.
This sword slash seemed capable of cutting through heaven and earth, reversing chaos for eternity.
The Immortal Emperor mark shattered easily, its figure turning into light and scattering like a dazzling firework blooming in the air.
Next, Xu Yang smashed another Immortal Emperor mark with a powerful punch.
Above the void, the dense cluster of Immortal Emperor marks began to dwindle at a visible speed.
Hundreds…
Dozens…
Tens…
Three…
Two…
One.
Only a single Immortal Emperor mark remained. By now, the thunder calamity in the sky had grown unimaginably terrifying, brimming with world-destroying power. Endless lightning crackled, and violent arcs of electricity made the very void tremble.
“True Martial Immortal Emperor?” Xu Yang murmured, narrowing his eyes as he studied the mark before him. Beneath the mark’s feet, turtles and snakes coiled together, glowing with a misty divine light. This unmistakably confirmed its identity.
